PJ's and block printed dressing gowns....
Knitwear
Indigo work wear denim jacket which refurbed my house

A woman who I used to work with (she retired recently) went to uni with Jamie and Jessica where they all studied archeology. She said it was all knitwear to begin with.

I remember buying a turquoise lambswool TOAST cardigan from TK Maxx years ago, maybe 15 years ago, for £15! In store.

I got acquainted with the Seaton's designs back in the days when they worked as designers for Rowan (yarn and knitting design company). It was back when the Seaton's, Kaffe Fassett, Alice Starmore and the likes were the top of the pops! And quite frankly, after that, handknitting designs has just been old wine on new bottles ;)

My memory of original Toast is that the name sprang from the Hygge aspect ;nightwear which I could only admire at that time, but I did buy a hot bottle thing full of cherry stones which had to be put in the oven.

When clothing started to appear it seemed very desirable on account of the beautifully produced catalogues, but functionally it was terrible ; skirts which had almost no overlap , pretty tops which shrank to nothing at the first wash. I stuck with it for a while but then avoided Toast for years , it seemed to be full of milkmaid dresses .
I came back when they started producing Margaret Howell style and IMO the choice and quality has much improved in the past 6 years.
I do feel extremely reluctant to buy anything made in China although I seem to have overcome my scruples on a couple of occasions!

In the early days, you'd get the sale list through the post, cross reference it with the catalogue you'd kept, then ring them up or send your order form in to arrive before it went live
I always over ordered because it was very hit and miss on what you'd get. But it would start at 60% off and go up to 80% off.

The sales were absolutely phenomenal! Such amazing buys.
I've loved Toast clothes for years and remember the fabulous catalogues. Do they even bother with these now?

lordloveadog · 25/01/2024 12:39

Anything new today?

Stoic123 · 25/01/2024 12:39

Came on to say that some nice reworn stuff uploaded.

I can recommend this - have a very similar one.

faustina · 25/01/2024 12:49

@BettinaInDenmark - I didn't realise that about Rowan knitting- how interesting!

There is one of the very nice yak shawls on the reworn and I was very tempted, but I really don't need another winter scarf

BettinaInDenmark · 25/01/2024 13:03

Just had a look at reworn - mostly very small sizes...

But seeing the Geo dress reminded me that I have the Geo skirt somewhere in totally unworn condition. I should probably look for it soon

Snowyowl78 · 25/01/2024 14:47

There’s a bargain jersey v neck jumpsuit and the velvet skirt in XL for someone lucky! Vouch for the jumpsuit, it’s brilliant

Snowyowl78 · 25/01/2024 14:48

I think the reworn is in size order actually

Countmeout · 25/01/2024 16:13

Nothing new I can see. We’ve seen everything in the look book. Has anyone been to the shops and seen anything new?

Burns Night . . . what shall I wear ???

I would have jumped for the velvet skirt, if I did not already have it in oil and night...

Tartan!!

neveradullmoment99 · 26/01/2024 08:48

Uniform research has extra bargains on some Toast stuff. I got the two white oxford shirts [to choose from] for around £56
Of course the website is so slow so they have probably sold out and I will get the usual email saying that is the case! It has happened on here and to me before.

Countmeout · 26/01/2024 11:42

Have to say Toast have obviously run out of tissue paper again 😁full price crinkle pinafore arrived without. Hush on the other hand sent sale stuff in a box , beautifully wrapped in nice tissue. I find it more than mildly annoying.

I have decided to risk my crinkle as the smaller size works really well with nothing underneath. The bigger is very gappy under the arms.
Has anyone this or the previous version and can confirm there is no shrinkage on washing?

What did you wear in the end @EDW ?

That sounds good @neveradullmoment99 . Hope they materialise.

OP posts:
faustina · 26/01/2024 17:00

Well my forward seam trousers didn't materialise, and they never bothered to let me know either, so I"m a bit pissed off about that - had to go on the chat again today to find out. Maybe if the walnut coloured pair aren't any good (they arrive tomorrow - last sale purchase) - I will see the russet forward seam pair in the next sale. I have also ordered the beautiful new bandana (the long one) - really looking forward to see what it's like!

neveradullmoment99 · 26/01/2024 18:21

Well they didn't materialise. Disappointed but expected. A bit annoyed that both shirts were OOS. What is the point? I wrote an email back to say I won't bother next time. No shirts at all.

neveradullmoment99 · 26/01/2024 18:22

That is now the second time that has happened to me.

FiddleFigs · 26/01/2024 19:31

@neveradullmoment99 - I ordered a shirt only to have it cancelled later too. I had hoped that meant that at least you got lucky - sorry to hear that you didn’t. Such a bore.

faustina · 26/01/2024 19:52

@neveradullmoment99 - that is annoying - and sad too because we all like to support shops like that, but not if they keep on being flaky

Countmeout · 26/01/2024 20:20

I think some of the websites are maybe clunky @neveradullmoment99 and that’s why things show as still available.
That makes it no less disappointing.

OP posts:
neveradullmoment99 · 27/01/2024 10:48

Well in good news they have just phoned me and offered me the two shirts at the original price out of goodwill, so win win!! Really pleased about that :)

TosstTastic · 27/01/2024 11:49

Hurrah! @neveradullmoment99

Sorting out the returns from the last sale order with the hatred of raglan sleeves ringing in my ears. And you are all right.

I desperately wanted to love the geo dress, wonderful colour, great neckline, lovely pencil shape around the hips, liked the tie, etc but the sleeves - I lift my arms and look like I'm filling a redbull wingsuit, with a bosom to rival Les Dawson.

The two material Bryn is going back, mostly because it made me wistful for jigsaw 2002.

Strong win for two jumpers, rocking one now.

Snowyowl78 · 27/01/2024 11:54

I wonder if there will be a 20% off code for anyone any time soon, I would like one! Holding off wearing anything new
