@BettinaInDenmark - they are very soft aren't they - and a nice weight for this time of year. They restocked the russet colour in most sizes today, but not mine, so I went on the chat and she is going to get me some (or so she said - I haven't heard back yet)

Maybe I should try that too

MiracleToast · 23/01/2024 17:08

Oh I love the hospital dresses! I can see them taking me right through summer. I do love baggy though and I’m envisioning myself cutting flowers and meandering around barefoot in the garden. Feels a long way off today whilst it’s so stormy. Now the sale is over I’m looking at seeds and things.

Popplebop · 23/01/2024 17:15

Ok so my sale tally has been the night velvet boxy jacket and night velvet pinafore this week (gorgeous), tank top and sage green padded jacket I bought on very first order. Plus some cards oh and a blanket 😂. Everything else has gone back! I feel like this sale has been going on forever and I don’t know about you but I feel I have tried on everyone’s orders as we went along which has been fun.

MiracleToast · 23/01/2024 17:16

@Popplebop That sounds like a great collection, especially the night velvet duo 😍

Dee1224 · 23/01/2024 19:38

Absolutely @Popplebop - I really like hearing what other people have bought/tried!

faustina · 23/01/2024 20:20

I get so much inspiration from you all - a big thank you to whoever recommended the big wrap scarf!

AFingerofFudge · 24/01/2024 07:29

Does anyone look at the Jones Arnhem website? They seem to have a confusing mix between really old pieces and never-seen-before new styles. There's a particularly interesting yellow dress!

Glad that sales are done and it was a pleasure to spend it in your company.

Like @Dee1224 , I spent yesterday morning putting things in and out of my basket. I just bought some more Angela Harding cards - order confirmed but I suspect may get cancelled as a previous attempt was (stock glitch).

I'm now on a self-imposed 40 day online shopping ban (weekly supermarket shop and experiences/travel booking excepted). Trying to reduce habit. Will see you back on this thread in March (avoiding sources of temptation) - to see who has succumbed to the hospital gown!

Isn't that the poplin Trapeze dress from last summer?
The Pintuck Chambray dress is €339.
I got a brand new one for £40 on a reselling site😅
How odd to still be selling the old collections full price.

Countmeout · 24/01/2024 09:22

I think it has a T-shirt/ jumper over the top @Alpacasoft @AFingerofFudge .
I can’t find it on the Jones site but I find it difficult to navigate.

Nothing much appealing at the moment in the new stuff ( one or two exceptions) . Not holding out much hope for tomorrow. The weather is rubbish anyway.

@Alpacasoft you're right!! I got very excited for a moment. @Countmeout it's a very difficult site to navigate!

BettinaInDenmark · 24/01/2024 11:44

Yes, I for one is also rather pleased that the sale is over ;)

After having done two way-too-big orders plus a last one during the feeding frenzy yesterday morning, I think I have exhausted both myself and my bank account...

Luckily/unluckily way too much did not go back - from the first two orders I am keeping:

Check crinkle dress in slate/pomelo
Check crinkle dress in copper/ecru
Crinkle swingy shirt in copper/ecru
Lime boat-neck sweater
Velvet jacket in Night
Velvet skirt in Night
Velvet trousers in Night
Cotton linen stripe sweater in orange/ecru
Cotton linen stripe sweater in blue/navy
Linen/cotton jersey shirt in Leaf
Scattered floral lounge dress
Pleat collar chambray shirt
Anja check cotton shirt in Dragonfly
Grid stitch socks in olive
Organic needlecord shirt in Thorn
Falke trainer socks
Maria la Rosa stripe socks in orange
Maria la Rosa stripe socks in i green
Textured rib socks in green
Stripe cotton cashmere socks in green
Indigo diamond poplin shirt
Marled British wool sweater
Forward seam cotton twill trousers in khaki
4 sheets of Lokta paper

Oooops, it seems a lot when listed like that...

TosstTastic · 24/01/2024 12:17

I call that efficient @BettinaInDenmark it took up headspace but you now have a decent amount of stuff in the wardrobe, most of which hopefully ties in with each other and any past or future purchases.

We've all done those food shops were you seem to have a dozen bags, cost a bomb and there's not a complete meal and now of it goes together.
You then end up doing a dozen to up shops....

I'd say, luckily I've been buying a decent amount of Toast clothes and accessories since Jamie and Jessica Seaton started the business in the late 90'es, and the styles and colours seems to go well together from year to year.

TosstTastic · 24/01/2024 13:40

Toast by Post - the sales really were something back in the day. I had all sorts of wonderful eccentric jackets.

We still have two wonderful Promenade coats in the house, which my daughter's are scrapping over as 'vintage'.

I hadn't bought anything much for years but my life has changed and so must my wardrobe. I've got one final sale parcel to arrive.

I might even start buying full price! Or does everything end up reduced, do the well priced, well designed items generally sell out fast?

faustina · 24/01/2024 13:46

They used to send out those folded (a4?) sheets of paper with the sale prices and the date of the sale in advance didn't they ? And you could plan exactly what you wanted. So much less stress! You could also find Toast at TKMaxx online. I'd be so happy if they started selling it at John Lewis again. I wonder why they stopped and whose decision it was?

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 24/01/2024 14:02

@Snowyowl78 so this is available to anyone spending £150, not just kindred?

Snowyowl78 · 24/01/2024 14:03

@Theteapotsbrokenspout looks like it, maybe there will be a kindred gift too at some point?

Dee1224 · 24/01/2024 19:38

My sister asked JL whose decision it was to stop stocking Toast and was told that Toast had ended the contract.

My theory is that Toast were sick of JL massively reducing their Toast stock at sale time.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t ‘into’ Toast in the JL days, so missed all bargains!

Countmeout · 24/01/2024 19:47

Yes the John Lewis reductions were fantastic. I wondered did they feel they cheapened the brand and were making it too accessible.

What is anyone hoping will appear in the drop in the morning? Do we think there will be much more?

OP posts:
Snowyowl78 · 24/01/2024 19:54

@Countmeout im hoping there will be a crinkled Olive jumpsuit. Or maybe a new version of the indigo/cord wrap jumpsuit

I remember someone on the thread said JL took a large cut and that was why.
I got some splendid bargains online and in my local JL plus it was nice to sneak in and try things without the hard sell.
Hoping for the pumps tomorrow 🙏

TosstTastic · 24/01/2024 20:43

In the early days, you'd get the sale list through the post, cross reference it with the catalogue you'd kept, then ring them up or send your order form in to arrive before it went live
I always over ordered because it was very hit and miss on what you'd get. But it would start at 60% off and go up to 80% off.

mizu · 24/01/2024 20:58

A woman who I used to work with (she retired recently) went to uni with Jamie and Jessica where they all studied archeology. She said it was all knitwear to begin with.

I remember buying a turquoise lambswool TOAST cardigan from TK Maxx years ago, maybe 15 years ago, for £15! In store.
