@OftenOrange I tried it and second @ScottishMouse . The fabric is lovely it’s just the fit (on the shoulders) that didn’t work for me. I was so tempted to try it a size up, but thought it might be a bit too voluminous.

ScottishMouse · 21/01/2024 21:22

I had exactly the same problem @No1Mousie I hate raglan sleeves, they just don’t work for me. So many Toast shirts have them recently. I did try the larger size, but it was massive everywhere else.

Dee1224 · 21/01/2024 21:24

Ah, thanks @Stoic123 and @OftenOrange - I will reconsider it tomorrow- I do like a hat!

@faustina - I bought the coat at a s/s till and there was no warning it was non-returnable- but it says on my receipt so I guess I am stuck with it. I was quite happy with it until I saw it in daylight! It’s a perfectly nice quilted coat, just a bright… very bright…postbox red and makes me feel either about five or ancient, depending on viewpoint.

What on earth was I thinking🙀? I am going to look like a cross between little red riding hood and the terrifying killer from Don’t Look Now!

I have even found myself wondering if it would take a dye, but I have a very poor track record with dye 😿

alliscalm · 21/01/2024 21:26

Thanks @Stoic123 and @OftenOrange . I bought the Bryn at the start of the sale at £20 dearer. Is it too late to claim the difference with customer services now?

OftenOrange · 21/01/2024 21:33

@alliscalmI did get a refund of the difference on that dress because it was within the 14 days return window, I rang them and said I could return it and re order for the lower price, the lady said , no need we will refund you. So nothing lost ringing them and asking .
@No1Mousie@ScottishMouse It’s good to hear that it’s lovely in person. I bought the Ash shirt on EBay , similar cut , and it’s weird across the shoulders .
Anyway based on your thumbs up I’m going to give it a go !
@Dee Red is THE colour I believe so why not do your nicest hair and face , step out in it and hear the compliments !
I zoomed a friend yesterday she was full on bright red; glasses, dress and lipstick and she looked fantastic. Not very Toast ( very different sense of style) but really good.

BettinaInDenmark · 21/01/2024 14:47

I bought that harlequin dress largest size in the sales, because I liked the pattern. Unfortunately it is quite restrictive on top, at least my breast got squashed. Plenty of room for me on hips. So back it goes.
I got the shirt too, but am not sure that I will keep it at 220 Euro...

Well, it will most likely go back ! Sounds like a straight jacket for me 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Thanks for your response. I like it but I'm not too bothered.

I can't wear raglan sleeves either.

I did try owning some Toast raglan shirts but ended up selling them on. Every time I wore them I kept seeing that Holbein portrait of Henry VIII. Nope.

Dee1224 · 21/01/2024 21:42

Thanks @OftenOrange I will see how it goes!

Stoic123 · 21/01/2024 21:45

@Dee1224 - also a red fan. Can you post a photo?

Dee1224 · 21/01/2024 22:10

I don’t think I dare @Stoic123 😹I will try it on again tomorrow, (seeing as I am stuck with it). It is nice, imo, apart from its brightness, combined with its quiltiness, and then there’s a hood…

Dee1224 · 21/01/2024 22:13

I agree with you on raglan sleeves @Stoic123 - they do nothing for my body shape 😿

AFingerofFudge · 22/01/2024 07:22

@OftenOrange the yellow tablecloth shirt was the only thing I bought full price that season. I have worn it loads and absolutely love it!

Countmeout · 22/01/2024 09:03

I, too, like the hat on you. And I like red.
I have quite a few ragland sleeved shirts. I may be delusional that they look good. I have quite bony shoulders although the rest of me isn’t.

OP posts:
lordloveadog · 22/01/2024 09:06

I think bony/slight shoulders must be what you need for raglan sleeves if you don't want the wife-beheading vibe. I have broad shoulders and solid chest and look like I'm sharpening my axe.

lordloveadog · 22/01/2024 09:08

Was there a rumour of new nice things to look at on Thursday? I'm postponing buying anything at EU prices and will wait until am in UK one day, but do like looking!

OftenOrange · 22/01/2024 09:27

@AFingerofFudge That’s what I wanted to hear , shirt on it’s way !

I’m okay with Raglan , fairly wide bony shoulders Hilarious discussion and

definitely appropriate for my forest green needlecord shirt which is very Henry 😂!

PretLea · 22/01/2024 14:32

I tried it on during this sale @Teamustbefromateapot and whilst I really like the Maya style (and hoped this would be similar) I didn’t get on with it. Just felt it was too voluminous and didn’t flatter.

TosstTastic · 22/01/2024 14:39

Interesting about the raglan sleeve on the broad shouldered , would love to hear you @lordloveadog nailing the truth on Toast Love.

TosstTastic · 22/01/2024 14:46

So what dress shape does suit the broad shouldered menopausal spread figure.

The embroidered textured cotton dress has seen a lot of wear
https://www.toa.st/products/embroidered-textured-cotton-dress-anthracite

Sent back in the sale the tie neck fluid dress which just seemed too big

But have had a wobbly moment and sent for the abstract print Bryn, which reminded me of wearing Jigsaw in 2001 with a proper hourglass figure.

And the tie waist geometric dress....which appealed to my imaginary, slender alter ego.

Any particular style I could be confident about going for?

Dee1224 · 22/01/2024 15:00

Thanks @Countmeout - I tried it on again this morning before work, (stupidly making myself late in the process!)

Put the red coat on, then chickened out before I got to the door😿

Dee1224 · 22/01/2024 15:05

I meant to say yesterday @Stoic123 - that jumper looks lovely on you. My sister has it too.

MiracleToast · 22/01/2024 15:42

Hi @Dee1224 Here is the lovely watering can. Sorry I’m a bit late to it.
