Do you mean the Breton Cire waxed hat @MiracleToast? I’m quite tempted…

ScottishMouse · 21/01/2024 13:46

My final sales tally is:

-Chambray shirt (now collarless)
-Wrap style scattered floral pyjamas (love them as I find button up pyjama tops are usually too small if the bottoms fit, hope they repeat this style although I seem to be the only person who likes them)
-Crinkle gauze quilt in grey/pearl (perfect in my dd’s bedroom to coat it up a bit)
-Stitched linen quilt in golden reed (far more green than the yellow I hoped for, but looks good and I can’t resist a Toast quilt)

Everything else went back or is packed up to go back. I was pretty discerning about what I kept, so pleased with that.

Stoic123 · 21/01/2024 13:57

I've already listed my haul and am very happy with it. Wearing the Shetland jumper today with the Maple Herringbone trousers from the summer sale.

Slightly overdid the Xmas gubbins but I will have a magnificant mantlepiece and table setting come December. Overegged it with 2 sets of table gifts - and 5 large baubles too 😬.

I've found the last couple of sales less fraught as I now avoid some categories and know certain styles (Toast repeats) don't suit me. Only one return this time (check cotton wool trousers).

Lovely to see your successes listed.

Snowyowl78 · 21/01/2024 14:09

@Nanasueathome @faustina how are you wearing the check trousers? I keep putting them on but thinking they look pyjamary. Are you wearing them for now or saving for better weather?

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 21/01/2024 14:14

I listed my haul previously and have managed not to purchase anything else, although I was nearly tempted by the blue patchwork quilt.

I've also realised that I have worn at least one piece of toast clothing every day since 23rd December, testament to the ever increasing percentage of toast in my wardrobe.

MiracleToast · 21/01/2024 14:16

@PretLea yes, that’s the one. Some reviews said it was small, which I sort of agree with, but it’s small in a good way that means it stays on my head!

MrsRadichio · 21/01/2024 14:28

Despite buying so much over the course of the sale I have so far only kept the wool tencel mix top with red / white stripes.

I am still debating the batik dress :)

I will probably buy a few more final fling items tomorrow if they have a restock. I should really try to restrain myself though!

it’s nice to hear of everyone else’s purchases. I don’t tend to buy much home stuff but think I should remedy this!

Today I am wearing a (non-toast) jumpsuit with the sleeveless button up cardigan from the summer sale which is a useful additional layer but is sadly already looking a bit shabby (could well be my washing style tho).

faustina · 21/01/2024 14:39

@Dee1224 - I've had that Beton Cire hat for a few years and don't find it too small (maybe I have a small head?) You can buy them in different sizes from Beton Cire if it doesn't work but you like it? I must admit it hasn't had much use but I think that's more me than the hat

The preparation bowls aren't huge but will be useful - also for serving bowls maybe? In the meantime they are beautiful to look at

@Snowyowl78 - I haven't worn mine yet! I've been in a jeans and jumper rut because it's been so cold, but hopefully I'll manage to haul myself out of it soon

I am dithering about the forward seam trousers still. Every time I think I'll just try them russet, I go to order and they've vanished in my size. Perhaps I'll see if they restock tomorrow and then decide

Countmeout · 21/01/2024 14:45

@Dee1224 I am still using my Emma Bridgewater Christmas bowls but envisage using the prep bowls in a similar way, putting out small portions of salad, nibbles and dips that I shouldn’t be nibbling with a glass of wine, that sort of thing. Mine will have to live in one of the crockery drawers once I swop over the Christmas stuff which will go into another cupboard.I don’t have anyway to display them currently ( and I’m worried the cat might swipe at them) They’re not huge.

Do we think there will be a restock, time is running out.

Ive ordered the dress with the ties at the top - Tie shoulder harlequin. With the reviews, i'm not giving it much hope with my post menopausal belly. Most say its tight in that part and bias cut but I just wanted to see cause I love it. Anyone have it? I have ordered my normal size but am on a journey to lose weight. I might make it my goal if I really like it.

I bought that harlequin dress largest size in the sales, because I liked the pattern. Unfortunately it is quite restrictive on top, at least my breast got squashed. Plenty of room for me on hips. So back it goes.
I got the shirt too, but am not sure that I will keep it at 220 Euro...

Haven’t worn mine yet
saving for nicer weather and going out
will wear with a plain white tshirt

Dee1224 · 21/01/2024 15:01

Thanks @faustina and @Countmeout - I wish I had bought the bowls.

Are we talking about the same hat @faustina ?

This is the one I ordered. It fitted, but I felt it looked weird.

Toasties enjoying our sale buys and springing into a new season
faustina · 21/01/2024 15:04

@Dee1224 - wrong hat! Or rather wrong person - it was the Beton Cire rain hat I was talking about and should have aimed it towards @PretLea - sorry!

I think that looks quite nice on you though!

Dee1224 · 21/01/2024 15:05

I am sending back the blue/white striped shirt as I have just realised it has mother of pearl buttons. I have leather shoes and leather bags, but I try to avoid other animal products if I can. I was on the fence anyway, so this decided me.

I also forgot that I bought the floral nightie, so sending the shirt back is making me feel-slightly-better about my purchases!

Dee1224 · 21/01/2024 15:09

Thanks @faustina . I do love my brown Fairisle tam and I have a bit of a hat fetish, so maybe I should reconsider!

It’s not going to go with the weird coat I panic bought in the M&S clearance sale yesterday as a temporary replacement for the coat I loved that the dog ate. (I have been trawling the shops and the internet for anything vaguely similar but in vain.)

It’s non-returnable and, quite frankly, I am embarrassed in the cold light of Sunday to get it out of the bag, much less wear it🙀

PretLea · 21/01/2024 15:10

Thanks @MiracleToast and @faustina I just purchased it. I have a smallish head, so I’m hopeful it will fit!

alliscalm · 21/01/2024 15:27

Final sale tally: Bryn two pattern dress, slubby check frill collar shirt, cotton wool shirt dress.
I bitterly regret not buying the citrus dress when it was in my size. I’ve seen several people wearing it (bizarrely, two separate sightings on Hungerford Bridge in London ) and it looks stunning on everyone. Going to have to stalk Vinted or the FB group…

lordloveadog · 21/01/2024 16:34

Sale tally: that nice brown duffle coat over which I dithered but is great; a pair of socks; a stripy wool midlayer top; 2 useful vests in blue and one in white.

Very moderate, I think, except that the coat was expensive.

BettinaInDenmark · 21/01/2024 17:08

Does any of you have the indigo Textured Duffle Coat? How is sizing?
I'm wondering if it will be way too long for me, and if it will actually cater for my large upper and short torso...

faustina · 21/01/2024 20:15

@Dee1224 - oh dear, that sounds awful! How come you can't return if it's M&S? Not even for a credit?

OftenOrange · 21/01/2024 20:24

@Dee1224 That hat looks gorgeous on you , it would look so nice with your toast outfits in the Spring too .
Maybe you’re eye is too critical.
Tempted to try the Breton Cire after reading here…
@alliscalm The citrus dress could come up in the next sale , so often that happens,so don’t give up.
Don’t you just love the 2 fabric Bryn ? It’s one that has to be tried and obviously not many did because the sale price was brilliant.

OftenOrange · 21/01/2024 20:32

My first take was ‘tablecloth’ but now I’m wondering if it could seen as a fresh zesty shirt in the Spring .
Since I’d never buy it full price, why am I about to buy it?

Toasties enjoying our sale buys and springing into a new season
ScottishMouse · 21/01/2024 20:42

@OftenOrange i tried that shirt when it first came out and loved it. But I couldn’t get the sizing to work. I would definitely have paid full price, I think it’s really unusual colours and would look great with navy, denim, ecru/white in summer.

Stoic123 · 21/01/2024 20:56

@Dee1224 - another vote for the hat on you.

@alliscalm - yes, there are often late returns from shops etc. Make sure you save to your wishlist so you can go straight to it on the next sale.
