Suprise pom bear there!

oddandelsewhere · 20/01/2024 15:34

When you are talking about the green crinkle dress, so you mean the ones described as darkest olive, or the bright green one called spruce I think? I bought a deepest olive one, and I like it but hoped it would be green. Actually it's brown!

alliscalm · 20/01/2024 16:56

The check cotton wool dress has arrived and I love it! It came back into sale stock and I’m so glad I pounced. It's not as woolly and warm as I expected but perfect for spring and early summer and was a really good price. So I’m pleased with my three sale items and feel I have been quite restrained.

neveradullmoment99 · 20/01/2024 19:00

Ive ordered the dress with the ties at the top - Tie shoulder harlequin. With the reviews, i'm not giving it much hope with my post menopausal belly. Most say its tight in that part and bias cut but I just wanted to see cause I love it. Anyone have it? I have ordered my normal size but am on a journey to lose weight. I might make it my goal if I really like it.

neveradullmoment99 · 20/01/2024 19:04

@JustforToast I really wanted to keep the skirt and from the front all looks good. I have a pretty short waist and it just was shapeless on me because of that. There was zero definition. I've seen it on others on instagram and it looks fabulous but from the side it just stuck out. I tried it on a few times but I am not the type of person that wears stuff tucked in. I like to wear tops that are the correct length but tbh, I looked like a box from the side. It may be different on you. I did however get the velvet pinafore dress. It is beautiful and I have worn it once but it collects so much fluff. Also a thought to bear in mind.

PretLea · 20/01/2024 19:26

Hi @Stoic123 - I wanted to ask about the citrus fluid dress…is it the same fit and sizing as the Greta harlequin dress? And is the green super bright? Reviews seem to be mixed…

Stoic123 · 20/01/2024 19:50

@PretLea - iI haven't tried the Greta so not sure. It's identical in shape to the the two Mila dresses I own in case that helps. Same material as the Mila Meadow (heavier than the Pinwheel).

The citrus is vibrant but warm- a chartreuse. I don't suit acids or true brights - I'm a dark/deep autumn (if that means anything to you). It looks as good against my skin tone as chocolates, navy and hunter green do.

PretLea · 20/01/2024 21:00

That’s so helpful thanks @Stoic123. I’m not familiar with the Mila style, but the cut looks so nice. I’m going to get my usual size and hope the shoulders on it aren’t narrow.

I’m a soft autumn, but still learning what colours suit me best. It does sound like it might work though, so going to give it a try.

Snowyowl78 · 20/01/2024 22:03

@oddandelsewhere yes the deepest olive v neck crinkle. I’m not seeing brown though I think it’s like a khaki green. Deepest olive is pretty accurate I thought

oddandelsewhere · 20/01/2024 23:32

@Snowyowl78 it's so strange, mine is the crinkle boat neck one with the checks on the outside. In the photographs the fabric looks the same as the v neck one, and definitely green. In reality it looks like a different colour of the same fabric.
I don't know how to put a photo on here, but I'll try to work it out tomorrow!

lordloveadog · 21/01/2024 08:46

Stoic that's very helpful! I assumed I couldn't wear that citrus dress, but it sounds like the colours might work.

Dee1224 · 21/01/2024 09:11

Morning! Has anyone got the blue/white raised stripe shirt from the sale? I ordered one as I have been eyeing it for a while.

It’s a lot thicker than expected and the material is almost identical in texture and appearance to one of my grandad’s pj tops. Despite this, (or maybe because!), I like it, but DH has pointed out it’s a bit clingy on the lower back from behind.

My questions are: Does it shrink? How do you wear it?

Thanks

Dee1224 · 21/01/2024 09:15

My total from the sale is:

Five large baubles 🙀
Crackers
Furoshiku boxes
Maeve dress in Kelp
Cord tie neck shirt in Slate

Still thinking about the blue/white raised stripe shirt.

After a slow start, I seem to have bought quite a lot, so I really mustn’t buy anything else!

What are other people’s final hauls? Make me feel better, please!

Noeggsontoast · 21/01/2024 09:26

My total purchases are:

Greta dress
Grass alpaca collared jumper
2x socks
Cashmere wool wrap (but bought for me as a gift)
Breen striped tee

I also bought one non-sale item during the sale:

Daisy patch pocket shirt.

Dee1224 · 21/01/2024 09:32

I loved the breen @Noeggsontoast - sadly it did not love me 😿That green alpaca jumper looks adorable.

Countmeout · 21/01/2024 10:35

My final purchases
cashmere wrap
Alix x 2 - the green check and a fine stripe
2 seasoning pots
the table gifts
Velvet skirt
1 sheet of wrapping paper
the Leach bowls
I can allocate some of these to non clothing budget 😳

I have returned the full price gingham trousers but now have ordered the crinkle check pinafore which I hoped might go into sale but didn’t and I think I want to wear now. I tried on when in London but still have ordered 2 sizes to see being mindful of comments upthread about losing the crinkle if too tight in the bust.

sonjadog · 21/01/2024 11:30

From the sale I ended up with:

Velvet skirt in oil
Checked linen dress which is currently at the tailor's being adjusted
Checked wool scarf

I am not interested in the new collection so far. I might like the new shape denim pinafore but not sure about it. The front looks good but the back a bit odd. I might try it next time I am back in the UK as then I can send it back for free if it looks weird.

faustina · 21/01/2024 11:54

So far:

wool/cashmere wrap (worn so much already)
cotton/wool check pull on trousers
preparation bowls
1.5 salt bowls
Palo Alto incense (not keen on this)

Still thinking over keeping the forward seam trousers

Sending back the fair isle jumper and the cotton linen wide leg trousers

Nanasueathome · 21/01/2024 12:04

My haul
Boat neck cotton gingham dress
Check cotton/wool pull on trousers
Furoshika table gifts
Tie shoulder harlequin flower print dress
Tie waist geometric print dress
Casa de folklore small platter bowl

Im done now……until next weekend when it’s my birthday and I’ll have more Toast gift cards to spend. I love the little cloth bags the gift cards come in.

Dee1224 · 21/01/2024 12:44

I am enjoying reading about your lovely purchases.

@Countmeout and @faustina re: the prep bowls: What will you use them for? I was so tempted as they look lovely, but I have nowhere to display them and wasn’t sure on sizing.

If they ever come back in stock I would be very tempted.

I am sending back the tam, (just a weird fit, even on my small head), the voile dress and probably the blue striped shirt. Will decide tomorrow. I may reorder the voile in s/m if/when it reappears in a future sale as I did like it, but not good at the back😿

MiracleToast · 21/01/2024 12:47

Toastie final count—

•Waxed hat—had its first outing yesterday in wind and rain. Love it.
•Gingham apron—already had lots of wear for baking / painting !
•Pressed flower cards—underwhelming and a bit stuck together but I kept as inspiration to make my own this year.
•Tassel pillowcase—completing the pair.
•Green stripe pyjama—in a Large! Have I been eating too many cakes or is the sizing truly bizarre?
•Stoneware watering can—so beautiful, arrived in lovely packaging. My gift to future flowers.

Dee1224 · 21/01/2024 12:47

Has anyone ‘circled’ today? I almost went but was a bit undecided on whether to part with the dress in question. Will aim for the next one.

Dee1224 · 21/01/2024 12:48

I wanted the watering can @MiracleToast but couldn’t work out where I would put it. Could you post a pic of it in situ so I can see it in a ‘real’ setting?

MiracleToast · 21/01/2024 12:56

@Dee1224 yes, of course, I’ll post later x

Dee1224 · 21/01/2024 13:22

Thanks @MiracleToast
