@mizu May have to rejoin Amazon Prime to watch Saltburn !
That thing seemed to attach itself to my post randomly , hope no one is offended😚

OftenOrange · 14/01/2024 10:30

Did anyone notice that Suzanne ,the wife of Mr Bates in the Post Office ITV
drana was wearing Toast .? Think I ID the recent Breton and also the pale blue Oxford shirt.

Countmeout · 14/01/2024 10:43

Thank you @OftenOrange

Ha ha, thanks for that @Alpacasoft The new colours would work better in my wardrobe I think. Will have to try on as skirts can be very hit and miss with me. I only have one that I wear (which was previously a dress that no longer fit on top), but would love to add a couple
more.

Dee1224 · 14/01/2024 12:30

Hi, thanks for your help yesterday with dress dilemma!

Here are some more pictures. What do you think? The Selma has a really nasty crease in the material on one side. I am assuming it would wash out.

An unexpected errand this morning put me very close to my local Toast store, so I went and tried on the green crinkle skirt. It’s a no for me. I hadn’t noticed, but there are pleats at the front and this made the fabric gather weirdly. The back looked quite flat and not gathered and the front looked like all the fabric was bunched up there. So that was a shame, but some money saved I guess. Nothing else in store tempted me even though I was open to trying and spending. I’m off home now to put on my new pjs and poncho (keeping the poncho, returned the scarf) and cosy up for the afternoon.

ScottishMouse · 14/01/2024 13:27

I like the Selma better with the top underneath, but I still prefer the Maeve on you@Dee1224.

Dee1224 · 14/01/2024 13:39

Thanks @ScottishMouse - I think I will keep the Maeve as I like wearing dresses in summer, (and it reminds me of a vintage dress from the 50s that I own, but don’t think I will fit into again 😿). I have also been eyeing it up for months.

I quite like the Selma, but it is a bit dark and it’s a little tight on the chest, but too big on the shoulders, (I agree, better with something underneath). I will think about it between now and tomorrow, which is when I will do my returns.

If it was a bit cheaper, then I would probably keep it as it’s the sort of dress that can be worn in three seasons, (personally I think it’s too dark for summer in that colourway).

I have been a bit disappointed with this sale - no new additions as the sale progressed, (not in quantities that I have noticed, anyway), and really slow restocking. In previous sales, restocking has happened regularly, (albeit at really weird times like 3am).

I am wondering if there will be a ‘final reductions’ this week with some proper restocking.

PretLea · 14/01/2024 13:44

@Dee1224 I was going to say we need to ask @Saurus72 about your dresses, because she always has the best dress advice. But have not seen her pop up on this thread.

Dee1224 · 14/01/2024 13:52

Yes @PretLea ! I am also very keen to know how these dresses wash, as I can’t afford any shrinkage! I suspect both will ‘need’ ironing, (which they won’t be getting if they stay here, as I don’t have an iron!)

Countmeout · 14/01/2024 13:53

I like the Maeve too @Dee1224 . I do think the Selma is very dark and it’s cotton too isn’t it? So sort of odd as not really a summer dress.

Dee1224 · 14/01/2024 13:55

I agree @Countmeout - the blue/black colour seems more autumnal to me!

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 14/01/2024 13:59

@ScottishMouse Shame about the green crinkle skirt, but looking at the product page I can see what you mean about the pleats at the front.

I think I’m done with the sale now, even if they reduce further. I’m keeping the Paraboot Veley lace up shoes and sending back the non-crinkle jumpsuit. I shall have to tally up what I’ve bought as it included several random Christmas decorations.

whinsome · 14/01/2024 14:05

Has anyone tried the new denim side button pinafore dress? I've nearly bought it a couple of times but then I look at the back view and it seems to hang funny. Love it from the front.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 14/01/2024 14:08

Final sale spend

2 Christmas tree toppers
Blossom garland
Hanging rosette set
Table gifts
Leach preparation bowls
Liz Vidal jug
4 tea towels
4 Napkins
4 pairs of socks
Pintuck Gingham Top
Indigo Duffle Jacket
Paraboot Veley Shoes

Oh dear, that seems a lot Blush

Alpacasoft · 14/01/2024 14:14

I still prefer the Selma.
Navy/ black/ olive green/ denim are my most worn summer colours along with chambray blue.

Interesting that I'm in the minority but I'm pale and blonde so look terrible in pastels.

Aaah that's a shame @ScottishMouse
I didn't find it was a problem for me in the black but will see if I can try the olive in store.

OftenOrange · 14/01/2024 14:53

@ScottishMouse I very much liked the poncho on you , hope it sees lots of useful action.
@Dee1224 The Maeve looks nicest in these photos , it’s such a lovely fabric and the colours seem very good on you.

sonjadog · 14/01/2024 15:03

I like both dresses on you. I think they are for different occasions. The Maeve one is great summer and holiday dress, while the Selma is good for spring or autumn, and work wear. If you don't have to send one back, I would keep them both.

Dee1224 · 14/01/2024 15:19

Thanks very much, @OftenOrange and @sonjadog

No1Mousie · 14/01/2024 15:47

Here’s my sales haul. All from Toast bar the cord Annie’s which came from uniform research ‘cos I was worried about missing them.

@Dee1224 the Selma looks much nicer with a top under, I guess it’s a question of how useful they will be ? I don’t think you will make a mistake either way.

I love the blanket stitch blouse in cream. Is it quite thick? What's the sizing like?

Dee1224 · 14/01/2024 16:00

Thanks @No1Mousie!

You have bought some lovely clothes. My sister has the white/blue shirt and the tee from the sale. (She sent back the orangey/cream stripe even though it suited her!)

What’s the orange/black harlequin dress like on? I was tempted by that myself.

faustina · 14/01/2024 16:11

I think that Selma dress would look amazing in the summer - navy and black always look great with a slight tan- they are two very different dresses though and it's hard to compare. Could you possibly keep both @Dee1224 😀?

I haven't finished with the sale yet - partly because, as others have said, it's been so slow this year! I have only kept the wool cotton check trousers, the beautiful wrap/scarf, the salt pot and the preparation bowls (and the incense which isn't that nice tbh). Waiting to see if the trousers I'm after come back into stock

Dee1224 · 14/01/2024 16:20

Thanks @faustina - I usually send things back asap but I think I need more time to ponder!

I liked the look of the salt pot - so cute!

No1Mousie · 14/01/2024 16:27

@neveradullmoment99 it has a nice texture, not particularly thick, but not see through either. I ordered a 12 and it seemed TTS. When I tried it on it seemed quite voluminous but I washed it and the other two and then wore them un-ironed and liked the fit better that way.

@Dee1224 thanks! I had them in my saved list and had all fingers crossed they’d show up in the sale. The Harelquin dress I ordered in a 10 (irl 12/14) and it’s a lovely fit, neat but not tight. I’m on high dose steroids at the mo’, so it will fit more loosely later in the spring. I may hem it, but will decide once the steroid weight is off.

@faustina I agree darker colours look fab with a slight tan in summer.
