@Snowyowl78 these are the instructions on the product page:

To recreate the effect, wait for it to completely dry after washing. Gather it up with your fingers, then twist it into a long roll, securing each end with string. Then, tie it in two knots to store.

But, as far as I understand, once it’s been ironed it can’t be recrinkled.

Snowyowl78 · 13/01/2024 12:32

@Theteapotsbrokenspout ooh thank you! So weird that they sent you an ironed version. I guess someone did it at home and then returned it?!

Or the warehouse got it back, thought, 'this is a bit crumpled', gave it a good steam and folded it neatly to go into stock again 😆.

Hi all, my two bauble orders arrived. One has joined the others on display. I am saving the other for a present.

I had to chase up a refund today - they are obviously having lots of problems as I didn’t get any argument or requests for umpteen emails, just ‘very sorry, here’s your refund’!

I am pleased it was resolved so quickly, but we really shouldn’t be having to do this. I know they are admitting to problems this sale, but it’s happened to me numerous times in the past as well 🙀

I hope others having refund issues get them sorted.

Dee1224 · 13/01/2024 13:20

The Selma dress, the Maeve and the dark blue drawstring collar dress also arrived today.

They all fitted, (which was a pleasant surprise, but confusing as I then spent several hours trying them on with various combinations of clothes, deciding whether to keep!)

The drawstring dress was a bit of a close fit in the Small, but would have been tent like in Medium. I quite liked it, but DH said it looked like a sack! We both agreed that it was a bit stiff and coat like.

What clinched a return was the ironed pleat down the middle, which would have had to have been put back in after every wash to make it hang right. I don’t even own an iron, so that was that!

Dee1224 · 13/01/2024 13:27

I loved the Maeve in the green/black colourway. 12 fitted me, but the buttons are too widely spaced so it pulled a little, showed gaps from the side. Sizing up wouldn’t have been the answer as it was a bit too big elsewhere.

I spent ages trying it with a tee underneath/over, different bras, but it’s going back. Should it return in a future sale, if/when I lose a bit of weight at the front, I will reorder.

The Selma was also big everywhere in 12 except a little pulling over my chest - I didn’t think this was as much of an issue as with the Maeve and it also looked ok with a jumper over it or with a tee underneath and a couple of buttons undone. DH actually liked it, (and he hates Toast), so I think it’s a keeper.

TosstTastic · 13/01/2024 13:28

Due to previous refund problems was going to go direct to store but Kilver Court, SM is apparently still closed until the 15th. I thought it was ambitious turning it around just in a couple of days earlier in the week.
Risking the postal system now. So sadly no selfies with the pretty store things 😔

Stoic123 · 13/01/2024 13:30

@Theteapotsbrokenspout - shame. So much nicer crinkled.

Final sales order arrived (I'm stalking returns for one item but have low expectations as went quickly). I'm keeping the denim patchwork jacket which is just so much nicer in real life- I think the studio lighting made it look quite garish in photos but it isn't. It joins the 70s Shetland Jumper and drawstring tunic dress from day one. I'm returning the cotton wool checked trousers - nice but not flattering on me. I've also kept a bunch of Xmas stuff, small home items, socks and stationery (some are gifts)- all lovely. A medium damage sale.

Another order also came today- a couple of full price wool cashmere neat jumpers. New season one (striped in reds) is going back as the olive one was nicer than expected- greener. It is a surprisingly different shade to the olive wool cashmere wrap that is now back in stock- online they look a closer match (see photo - still not exact but for contrast).

Love those colours @Stoic123

Dee1224 · 13/01/2024 13:36

What has everyone kept this sale?

I have:

Four baubles 😹
The crackers
The furoshiki boxes
The very old stock cord tie-neck navy shirt

Still on the fence about:

Floral nightie
Selma dress - I know I said I was keeping it, but am not 100% sure

Stoic123 · 13/01/2024 13:40

@Dee1224 - 4 baubles for me too. I also doubled up on the table gifts as they looked so nice on the mantlepiece - one set to use, one set for decs. As I also got some crackers- I didn't need a set to use 😳

Dee1224 · 13/01/2024 13:42

Good choices, @Stoic123! Which baubles did you get?

Dee1224 · 13/01/2024 13:47

Hi guys, Can I have people’s opinions these two dresses?

Looking at the pictures again, I just don’t think the Selma is right on top on its own.

It looked nice with a 3/4 sleeve tee underneath and buttons partly undone and ok with a navy jumper over the top.

Looking at the Maeve again, I think it could work, especially as I have remembered that I have a nice crochet lace mini poncho thing that seems to look good thrown over everything come summer.

Thanks

Dee1224 · 13/01/2024 13:48

Also, if anyone has either of these two dresses, how do they wash? Any shrinkage?

Thanks

Dee1224 · 13/01/2024 13:42

Good choices, @Stoic123! Which baubles did you get?

I got 3 Red Alliums for my tree (I like things in 3s) and an Olive Firle for mantle (to join the harlequin which I bought full price and some from last year). You?

Stoic123 · 13/01/2024 14:14

@Dee1224 - I think I like the Maeve best.

I think both look good. I reckon th Selma really needs to have a button or so undone.
I have the maeve. It's a beautiful dress. I wear it with a layer under it.
It washes fine.

neveradullmoment99 · 13/01/2024 14:18

If its a choice between the two, the maeve wins.

Dee1224 · 13/01/2024 14:33

Thanks, guys - I will think about it over the weekend. If I have the energy, I will take a pic of the Selma with a top underneath and buttons undone.

I find pictures really helpful for revealing things that you might not notice yourself when wearing.

I really do need to go on a diet - the irony of me saying this whilst on the sofa watching K-drama with a box of leftover from Xmas chocolate next to me is not escaping me!

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 13/01/2024 14:38

I like the Maeve best @Dee1224 although I’ve got the skirt in that colour way and I think it’s a gorgeous material so I may be a bit biased.

Countmeout · 13/01/2024 14:38

I really like them both on you @Dee1224 .The Maeve looks lovely and summery.

Dee1224 · 13/01/2024 14:39

@Stoic123 - I got the red allium, the prism in red/black, and one orangey and one green/gold (same pattern), but can’t find their name.

Apparently you are supposed to put three of each type of bauble on a tree, so you have chosen wisely!

Mine - together with the two orangey/cream ones from SM are in a bowl on my windowsill. I will use the silver metal Toast baubles and the mini painted ones for my tree.

Dee1224 · 13/01/2024 14:42

Thanks for your feedback, everyone. I am leaning back towards the Maeve, although with amendments, I suspect I would get more wear out of the Selma.

DH has said he will buy one of them as a belated birthday present, (but as we share finances it’s a bit of a moot point and doesn’t really defray the cost😹). Given all my other sale purchases outside Toastworld, I really can’t justify both…

Dee1224 · 13/01/2024 14:49

Here they are. I want a glass bowl to display them as this 1930s black/pink vase doesn’t match our colour scheme but at least it’s getting some use after years of languishing in a cupboard!

@Dee1224 i like the Maeve better on you if it’s a choice.
