Well, my delivery finally happened - after it sitting in Peterborough for three days. Not toast's fault, but annoying all the same. I had already sent back the humbug jumper in a Large because I didn't want to lose the chance of a refund, and it was really annoying not to be able to try them on together to compare. I have sent back the Medium too now - it just wasn't perfect. The very slow processing of orders plus this particular Royal Mail cockup just meant things didn't work as they should and I am trying not to make expensive mistakes.

The preparation bowls are beautiful, though a bit small, and the salt bowl is also beautiful but arrived with a broken spoon, so they've refunded and are sending a replacement bowl and spoon with express delivery which is nice of them. I can keep the other bowl - not sure what to put in it but it's so tactile, I might just have it as a cache-tout (and defensive weapon).

The big ochre wool cashmere wrap also came (ordered yesterday and paid for DHL) and it is amazing - the colour is just right for my skin tone! Very glad they seem to be putting returns back on the site more quickly now. Toast sales don't really work unless they do that!

Dee1224 · 12/01/2024 16:44

I love ochre @faustina - can we see a picture?

faustina · 12/01/2024 16:52

@Dee1224 It's quite hard to capture how pretty the colour is, as it's a kind of marl - also it's dark now, but it's so nice I wore it straightaway!

@faustina - gorgeous colour.

Such lovely wraps - I succumbed to the blue and olive ones a few months ago.

faustina · 12/01/2024 16:56

@Stoic123 - I can see why! I was looking at the olive but it's sold out. It's quite big but not suffocatingly so

Dee1224 · 12/01/2024 17:06

Such a lovely colour @faustina - thanks for posting. Was it a sale purchase?

faustina · 12/01/2024 17:14

@Dee1224 - yes it was but not hugely reduced- £110 but worth every penny. I have a huge chartouche from Brora in a similar size though it's woven and 100% cashmere and that was much more expensive and not as nice as the toast wrap

Dee1224 · 12/01/2024 17:23

Thanks @faustina

MiracleToast · 12/01/2024 17:34

Lovely wrap @faustina I’m forever hoping Toast will bring out a straight beige / cream version of the wool cashmere wrap. I love them so much

Stoic123 · 12/01/2024 18:20

@MiracleToast - I'd love a pale neutral too- a winter white/ecru version.

faustina · 12/01/2024 18:23

I loved that gingham yak square wrap too, that Scottishmouse modelled for us

mizu · 12/01/2024 18:34

@faustina ooh gorgeous, my kind of colour too.

MiracleToast · 12/01/2024 18:42

Yesss @Stoic123 that would be so perfect. I hope Toast hears us 🙏🏽

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 12/01/2024 18:47

I would like a heavy cotton wrap. I do like this tapioca scarf , but it's not a winter weight like the cashmere wraps. Surely its possible to make something for those of us who can't wear wool.

Island Gingham Hand Woven Scarf | Tapioca

Island Gingham Hand Woven Scarf | Tapioca

Our lightweight gauzy scarf is handwoven from cotton with a check pattern and bright contrasting stripe at the fringed ends. Available in Tapioca.

My ruffled collar slubby blouse arrived and it’s definitely staying. It’s funny how when you know you know… I should try to bottle this feeling and save spending days dithering trying to make things work before eventually sending them back. My only other sale purchase has been the Bryn two colour dress. Compared with other Januarys, a frugal year!

ScottishMouse · 12/01/2024 19:25

So lovely @faustina. The yak scarf went back, it was just too much scarf for me. Would be good for draping around the shoulders shawl-like, but I don’t tend to wear scarves like that. The poncho is still sitting in my bedroom, I’m still considering it.
So my sale buys are: two pairs of pyjamas, and the chambray frill collar (now no collar!) shirt. I have another quilt on the way, the Gala one was given the thumbs down by my DD, and that is it. Nothing else I am stalking returns of, would just like if they made the sale go away soon now.

faustina · 12/01/2024 19:30

@Theteapotsbrokenspout - maybe a heavy jersey wrap would do the trick? I actually have a really ancient MIH denim big wrap. They sent it to me as an apology once when I ordered a pair of jeans and their website went bananas and charged me for 12 pairs (and they were very expensive jeans too!) Something like that in one of Toast's lovely garment dyed denims would be really nice.

It's such a shame you can't wear wool though.

@alliscalm - that is why I sent back the humbug jumper - trying not to buy unless perfect

faustina · 12/01/2024 19:31

@ScottishMouse - it was quite a lot of scarf, I agree, but it did look lovely on you. Mathildawears has it on Instagram and it looks lovely on her too

ScottishMouse · 12/01/2024 19:48

Yes I saw it on her @faustina, it suits her. When I returned it, the sales assistant in store was also wearing it and it looked great on her. Almost made me not return it, but I know I would mostly wear it over pjs sitting on the couch and that isn’t a good use of money.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 12/01/2024 19:48

@faustina Interesting experience with MIH, almost worth it for the wrap I would imagine. And yes, a jersey wrap would work. I hope that the toast personnel that lurk on this thread are taking note.

oddandelsewhere · 12/01/2024 10:48

@Countmeout the colour of the gingham trousers is REALLY lovely. Think Farrow and Ball Calke Green! But the fabric is really soft and floppy. I would only wear them on the hottest day, however things look so different on different people don't they, they might look great on you.

Thanks @oddandelsewhere Calke green is good.

My Paraboot Veley arrived today, they've obviously done the rounds as the box is very tatty, but the shoes are lovely.
I do need to be sure about the sizing, I thought they would be too big as I think you generally need to go down a half size in paraboots, but these are so narrow they do seem to fit ok.
I'm going to try them over the weekend to make sure but I know they would be a useful addition to my shoe collection.

@Theteapotsbrokenspout 💙They are beautiful shoes , I hope they work out for you ; and with those socks just brilliant.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 13/01/2024 12:16

How did you get on with your crinkle jumpsuit @Snowyowl78 ? The M they sent me is an ironed version with none of the ties for making it crinkled. I shall try it on for size but that’s not how I want it. If the size is ok I’ll chase cs for returns I think.

Snowyowl78 · 13/01/2024 12:21

@Theteapotsbrokenspout really?! That’s very odd. Yes I’m keeping mine, it’s quite large, hopefully not too large, I only tried it on quickly, will try again before a final decision. I would complain about the non crinkles. Actually, once washed, how do you make it crinkly again?
