I like that jacket @JustforToast

@Alpacasoft - it’s not too late for a dibber- one had reappeared at SM when I was there in November!

Keeping with the gardening theme: I don’t know if anyone else has been looking at the watering cans in the sale. I am drawn to the totally ridiculous terracotta one, but hoping it would reduce in price. I saw it instore and had to explain to the assistant how it worked. Does anyone have it?

FiddleFigs · 12/01/2024 08:16

It’s not been a terribly successful sale for me (though successful in terms of low spend!). I only kept the breton tee. Everything else was too short in the arm or body. I’m 5”10’, but haven’t had that problem with the sweaters and tops in previous seasons, so I wonder if it’s the new sizing?

I missed the live yesterday - will try to catch up today. I love the colour palette of what I’ve seen in New In.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 12/01/2024 08:33

Thank you @JustforToast I suspect I’ll have trouble with the sizing, I might wait until I can get to a store to try it.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 12/01/2024 08:34

@Dee1224 There's still lots of baubles in the sale Grin .

whinsome · 12/01/2024 08:35

I won't have kept anything from the sales.

Have decided to return the cotton cashmere check trousers. The dropped waist gave me a nappy crotch, and these are trousers that I wanted to wear out the house. Also the material was a bit rough. I already have a pair of nappy crotch trousers which I adore. They are lovely and soft and I only wear them where people who love me can see them ... 😆

The hot water bottle cover was a disappointment as well. It was the patchwork one and is fraying at the edges so not keeping that.

Bummer. But happy bank balance.

Firesideknitting · 12/01/2024 09:00

Ooooo just had a look at the new arrived stock, have to say there’s some good pieces I feel, linen trousers are my goto from April onwards so a good selection of those. Blouses always a winner here and a dress or two I’d see myself in… I’ve saved what I think I may purchase, I’ll come back to it a few times before actually paying … how’s everyone found the new items ??

Brackenfield · 12/01/2024 09:15

Oh gosh, I'm on a new year buy nothing resolve, but the colours of the new drops are just lovely, all those soft greens and blues...

oddandelsewhere · 12/01/2024 09:18

I thought the new things looked lovely online, but I was in the Harrogate shop yesterday and was fairly underwhelmed in real life (for me, I 'm sure they will suit other people).
The check cotton dress was much more muted than it looks in the photos, with slight washed out tablecloth vibes. I tried the green gingham trousers by the material was so soft and floppy they definitely looked like pyjamas on me but I am probably twice as old as everyone else here!
I bought the dark olive dress which I think looks much better on than off, but that might be just because it suits my colouring. That's my favourite dress shape so I know it will get worn. I hope everyone else has better luck!

Dee1224 · 12/01/2024 09:46

Just had another browse round the sale - a few returns have been added since this morning.

@Theteapotsbrokenspout - I am resisting the reappeared baubles😹, although I do like the garlands!

Went to the hairdressers at 8am this morning and am all dressed up with nowhere to go- contemplating the resumption of the great coat hunt 2024…

Snowyowl78 · 12/01/2024 10:10

I got some sales packages today- velvet skirt going back looked quite bulky on me. I also tried the men’s dusky pink jacket, but it looked quite uninspiring. I like pink and we don’t get it in the ladies range but I think I’ll return it.
The batik dress, I love, it’s so well fitted and love the pattern and the sleeves. However, when will I wear it?? I wish it was about £70 cheaper then I’d definitely keep it.

Snowyowl78 · 12/01/2024 10:24

@MrsRadichio did you decide to keep the batik and when/where will you wear it?
I love the fit especially the top, I think it looks great from a side view. I got my usual toast 12, but lots of people said to size up. Did you go for your usual size?

Countmeout · 12/01/2024 10:29

Sorry the velvet skirt was unsuccessful for you @Snowyowl78 .

The Peacoat arrived. Not for me. Too much of a swing at the back. The material was slightly disappointing for me, I wanted it to be softer. I am trying to replace a Boden navy coat from 6/7 years ago which I realised has got slightly shabby in places. I love it so much this is difficult.

I thought the cabin dress was underwhelming colour wise on the video @oddandelsewhere . The colour of things is often so.
Are you able to describe the colour of the green gingham trousers so I can be disappointed in advance of mine arriving on Monday?

OP posts:
oddandelsewhere · 12/01/2024 10:48

@Countmeout the colour of the gingham trousers is REALLY lovely. Think Farrow and Ball Calke Green! But the fabric is really soft and floppy. I would only wear them on the hottest day, however things look so different on different people don't they, they might look great on you.

BettinaInDenmark · 12/01/2024 11:37

Today I'm wearing the velvet jacket in "night", the short sleeve chambray shirt with the clown collar and the slate (blue) forward seam trousers - the latter from the sale prior to this one. And I'm a happy camper 😀 Was contemplating to wear the velvet skirt too instead of the trousers, but reconsidered as it might look too formal for todays tasks at the office.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 12/01/2024 12:02

I've just caught up with the Kindred live and I found quite a few of the colours looked more washed out than the on the product pages, I don't know if it's my screen or the true colours.
I liked the new Bryn dress but I'm wary of viscose, and prefer cotton, so I don't know if that's for me. I also liked the Utility jacket, although its a shame it's not lined.
Hopefully there will be a few of the new crinkle pieces in next weeks live as I would like to see those, especially the Lydia shapes.

MrsRadichio · 12/01/2024 12:10

@Snowyowl78 i am still considering it! I think it is mainly the price giving me pause. I think I will wear it casually - I tried it on with a striped layering top underneath yesterday and it looked good I thought so I would try to wear it through the seasons (need to at that price!) I bought my usual toast size too.

I watched the live - not too much I liked enough to think of buying but I did like the khaki green utility trousers. I thought the check dress looked lovely on the lady modelling it, kind of a vintage vibe but the colours would not be for me.

Thank you for posting this. I, too, have been sorely tempted by the Peacoat as my Boden navy coat from about the same time as yours (with the orange backing under the collar?!) is starting to look rather worn so I'm very grateful to hear (and learn from) your experience.

MsDastardley · 12/01/2024 14:00

@Theteapotsbrokenspout what background colour is the new Bryn dress? Can't make up my mind whether it's brown or black... I really don't like brown, but would give it a go if black. I love the cover print. Thanks

Ignore above - just realised you saw it on video, I thought you had been in a shop. Was it a Kindred event, I can't find anything on the website.

MrsCat1 · 12/01/2024 14:03

@MsDastardley I asked exactly the same question re the background colour on the web chat and was told dark brown. I would have tried it if it were grey or black.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 12/01/2024 14:07

@MsDastardley Yes, a Kindred event. It did look dark brown to me as confirmed by @MrsCat1 .

MsDastardley · 12/01/2024 14:16

Thanks @Theteapotsbrokenspout and @MrsCat1 it will be a no from me then 😥

Countmeout · 12/01/2024 14:25

@Boiledeggandtoast mine is a knee length navy (Sophie) but the length is probably a bit dated never mind the wear. The blanket stitch coat is beautiful , saw it in the flesh, but a bit spendy for me. Might be tempted by it or the jacket if they went into sale. Thought about the duffle but not sure about the length of it either.

Boiledeggandtoast · 12/01/2024 14:50

Ha, thanks Countmeout. Mine was a reefer-type jacket so I'm looking more for that style, but I will follow your pursuit with interest! And I agree with you about the blanket stitch coat, beautiful but sadly way beyond my budget.

Snowyowl78 · 12/01/2024 16:08

@TerrierOrTerror ive ordered that, I would really like them to also bring it out in a jumpsuit. Maybe it’s on the way! I’ve ordered the blue jersey jumpsuit but I am thinking darker colours might be best in that one.
