What do you wear to do the housework?

I'm fed up of wearing a dressing gown , I don't want to spoil my day clothes and I don't want to wear old clothes

What should I buy that isn't depressing and unglamorous but taht I don't want to keep for outside wear?

Oh dear. I scrub floors because on the infrequent occasions I clean my hard floors, they are encrusted with grot. I also use an e-cloth but would regard what I do with it as scrubbing. Hence my belief that it would take longer than 2 mins to do the floor!

Of course, if I did the floor after every meal like you're supposed to, there would be no scrubbing, presumably.

TheFallenMadonna · 14/03/2008 16:15

I mop. Am I hopelessly old fashioned? Are e cloths the must-have kitchen accessory?

Anna8888 · 14/03/2008 16:17

I have an e-cloth mop, too .

But it doesn't get the floor really clean like washing it does . The mop is for in-between quick clean ups. But I recommend it.

Yes, e-cloths are essential IMO. Makes cleaning so much quicker. I import them from England

wow, i'm doing something right on the housework front

sorry, when I say I have an e-cloth, I mean an e-cloth mop. I don't get down on my knees and scrub except where there are lumps of grot. Because when I believed I had to get down on my knees to clean the floor, I literally never did. Whereas now that I have the mop, I probably clean the floor, ooh, every month.

TheFallenMadonna · 14/03/2008 16:27

I have microfibre cloths. Aren't they just unbranded e cloths?

My floor looks OK on just a mop TBH. Thank the Lord I don't have white floor tiles in my kitchen...

Yes Califrau....you must change for the housework and change again and put a pretty ribbon in your hair for when your DH comes home. And a little makeup!

RustyBear · 14/03/2008 16:34

I used to clean the shower wearing nothing at all, but have recently discovered that I have to wear my glasses to do a good job.

DH nearly had a heart attack laughing at me the other day....

What's so bad about wanting to look attractive when your DH/DP sets eyes on you at the end of the day? [eye roll at 1970s feminists emoticon]

I'm with Anna, I don't wear my day clothes for propoer housework. Of course I wear whatever I'm wearing to wash up, tidy stuff away etc but for my proper hosework - when I'm bottoming the house on my hands and knees I wear trackie bottoms and a t shirt.

Then I'd showr and chamge before leaving the house.

Othersideofthechannel · 14/03/2008 16:49

Except that Anna doesn't own any T shirts!

DrNortherner · 14/03/2008 16:50

Oh I missed that bit.

She has no t shirts?

Othersideofthechannel · 14/03/2008 16:52

No track suit bottoms. No t-shirts.

But this digresses from Anna's question
'What's so bad about wanting to look attractive when your DH/DP sets eyes on you at the end of the day? '

DrNortherner · 14/03/2008 16:57

How can you not own a t shirt?!!!

Whos is this Anna woman. What does she do for a living? What does she wear on a day to day basis?

Does she not have any exercise wear?
