Luxury* candle

I'm posting here partly because this topic is more live and let live about spending and disposable income imo and also because this is the board of beautiful things!

I'm treating myself to a luxury candle. Something with a beautiful fragrance and good longevity and reasonable throw.

I'm looking at Miller Harris, Bon Parfumeur, Bob & Eight, Diptyque, ESPA, AERIN, Moncler, Goutal, Tom Dixon, maybe Rituals and Molton Brown. Have ruled out Jo Malone, Tom Ford and Neom. Anybody have any recommendations or ones to avoid out of those brands? It is a long list I know but decisions are hard when I'm stressed which only emphasises that it is time to do something nice for myself!

*definitions may vary 😉

White Company candles are my favourite and probably better value than a lot of the ones you've listed.

Ah see I tried White Company before but I wasn't too keen on them.

I'm a fussy sod, I know. I'm really just hoping someone comes along saying one brand is terrible or brilliant 😂I'll take another nosy at the fragrance notes of the candles I'm looking at

I like White Company when buying but also loved the Diptyque I was gifted.

shockeditellyou · 09/12/2023 16:53

Byredo

SophiaElise · 09/12/2023 16:53

Diptyque are my go-to luxury candles. I like Feu de Bois but you may find it too woody.

shockeditellyou · 09/12/2023 16:53

Also Trudon.

ImTheGoat · 09/12/2023 16:54

Neom is my favourite- could I ask why you've ruled it out? Otherwise Diptyque. Not keen on Molton Brown and agree about ruling out Jo Malone.

MrsCharlieD · 09/12/2023 16:55

Dyptique Violette is my absolute favourite. It's the one little luxury I always re buy. As soon as it's running low, I replace it.

kjv1234 · 09/12/2023 16:57

I've recently tried a Missspirit candle and they're amazing- so long- lasting. They also do room sprays and I can still smell it hours after I've sprayed.

Ginandjuice57884 · 09/12/2023 16:59

Try Potters Crouch. They're really good. Dunno if they're "luxury" but I love them.

atthebottomofthehill · 09/12/2023 16:59

Trudon are the only candles I buy. They're a class above everything else.

EdinaMonsoon · 09/12/2023 17:00

Diptyque Tuberose or Ambre are both beautiful. Liberty’s candles are gorgeous too, as are Ormonde Jayne.

sidsgranny · 09/12/2023 17:02

Chase & Wonder. Beautiful!

ComfyBoobs · 09/12/2023 17:02

Frederic Malle’s cafe society is absolutely the most wonderful scent ever. Hints of coffee, leather and lavender with a sweetness to it and superbly blended so that it is a cohesive and distinctive smell of its own. Great for winter. I’d bathe in it if I could.

CurlsnSunshinetime4tea · 09/12/2023 17:04

How about pure beeswax from a local bee keeper?

RepetitiveMotion · 09/12/2023 17:08

This is the candle Nigel Slater recommends in the Christmas Chronicles, and everyone knows he is The Arbiter of Good Taste.

It's not on your list but the Anthropologie candles are great

dullandgrey · 09/12/2023 17:14

Diptyque Ambre is my favourite this time of year

troppibambini6 · 09/12/2023 17:41

Another one saying dyptique. Gorgeous!

Southpoint · 09/12/2023 17:42

Dyptyque and go as large as possible in size.

User1343 · 09/12/2023 17:44

I love a candle - I’m interested why 2 people are ruling out Jo Malone? I see them as out of my price range but when I want luxury, I love their small ones as a treat.

feralunderclass · 09/12/2023 17:49

Watching. I bought a JM one last year as a present after posters said they smell brilliant even when not lit. Mine arrived, I was so excited, but it was such a disappointment. I could hardly smell it. The Home Bargains knock off was better!

SiobahnRoy · 09/12/2023 17:57

Beauty pie have some amazing candles at £20

JoeyDoesntShareFoood · 09/12/2023 18:05

I recently discovered Pure Natural Therapy for candles. They are beautiful.

I can’t bear Jo Malone candles, and ruled out any that use fragrance oils instead of essential oils.
