Luxury* candle

I'm posting here partly because this topic is more live and let live about spending and disposable income imo and also because this is the board of beautiful things!

I'm treating myself to a luxury candle. Something with a beautiful fragrance and good longevity and reasonable throw.

I'm looking at Miller Harris, Bon Parfumeur, Bob & Eight, Diptyque, ESPA, AERIN, Moncler, Goutal, Tom Dixon, maybe Rituals and Molton Brown. Have ruled out Jo Malone, Tom Ford and Neom. Anybody have any recommendations or ones to avoid out of those brands? It is a long list I know but decisions are hard when I'm stressed which only emphasises that it is time to do something nice for myself!

*definitions may vary 😉

Friend bought me one and it was very long lasting

Malin+Goetz , Cire Trudon, Diptyque, Loewe.

SwooningCamille · 09/12/2023 21:32

Sand and Fog via TK Maxx.

Also Aldi/Lidl Jo Malone fakes.

Diptyque Narguile and Choisya are two of my favourites. But I also wouldn’t discount Neom, their happiness candle is lovely.

Alchemistress · 09/12/2023 21:45

Trudon are the 😘👌🏼

Solis Rex and Spiritus Sancti are my two favourites. The Moroccan mint tea one is also lovely.

Liberty's collab with Diptyque 'insolite' candle is absolutely gorgeous.

Jo Malone used to be fantastic but not any more

These are brilliant and ethical www.contentbeautywellbeing.com/collections/eym

I have a lovely Diptyque Rose candle at the moment.

I don’t know what their candles are like, but I use Esteban oils in my diffuser, and they are lovely.

MAISON Balzac candles are gorgeous but v hard to find. I did just order some from Australia- the Black Friday discount just about made it worth it. The miel d’hiver is my favourite scent ever

field day (NI company) are also very nice and a bit more simple than some of the others mentioned. Getting a bit more popular in chi chi nonsense shops in SW London so might be worth a try. Scent is good.

PinkArt · 09/12/2023 23:28

Diptyque is my no 1 brand but I'm also a big fan of Jo Loves (their Christmas scents are lovely), Boy Smells, the Overdose patisserie ones, Cire Trudon at Christmas and Acqua di Parma. Yes, I do have a candle problem!
OP, do you know what kind of smells you are after - floral, spicy, fresh, gourmand etc - as that might help folks give you some more specific recommendations?

Their perfumes are beautiful but have such poor longevity on my skin. Do their candles fare any better?

Not the PP but Penhaligon’s are the best I’ve found. And can get some of them discounted at the Bicester outlet (or mail order from them via WhatsApp)

next best is beauty pie!

Both are strongly scented with depth and layered scent and can be smelled unlit from across the room!

I have a billion candles of all sorts. Everything from Aldi to all the brands mentioned above, plus a lot of artisan stuff. I'm officially addicted.

Currently burning my first Diptyque candle (Sapin) and it's bloody awesome. For some reason, I'd never bought one of theirs before last month, though loved them elsewhere. They definitely are a league above, though so they should be for the price.

Mama Moon candles are excellent but more witchy. I had her focus candles burning most of last year and my office still smells lush, despite me running out in October. Her healing one is gorgeous. Wild Planet candles also excellent, they last for ages and their fragrances are lovely. I have their room sprays too, there's a midsummer or something like that which is a favourite
