What's weird is if it was planned surgery why were appts booked in to now have to be cancelled? Surely they would have done that already.
Very odd

I read elsewhere that “planned” just means “not an emergency”. So surgery can be scheduled at very short notice and still be considered “planned”.

I guess there's also the bit that engagements are planned months and months in advance. If a number of them had all been cancelled with no formal announcement there would have been gossip that there was a problem somewhere. And if they make a formal announcement prior to her being admitted it would overshadow every engagement in the interim (and no doubt lead to some inappropriate questions being asked to W&K directly).

I'm not sure there's an easy way to communicate without lots of speculation about the details. You only have to see the other thread...

Maireas · 17/01/2024 15:23

Anyway, fingers crossed she's up and about soon 🤞

Best wishes to her. To keep to the spirit of this thread, I hope she is resting comfortably in fabulous satin pyjamas!

justasking111 · 17/01/2024 15:43

Ah bless her. The children Will miss mummy as all children do.

eggandonion · 17/01/2024 15:56

I hope the food is good for so long a stay🙂 poor King is also having a procedure. He might discover the joys of daytime telly.

MotherofPearl · 17/01/2024 16:18

I see she's going to be off work for a few months. Like others, I wish her well.

My main - very selfish - thought is that here on RS&B we're going to be deprived of her lovely fashions for ages. Blush

paradyning · 17/01/2024 16:33

Fair point (and one I should know!)

So. What jammies would she wear?!

Hopefully something comfortable!

justasking111 · 17/01/2024 16:58

Charles procedure is no walk in the park. OH had it done as a younger man. Took a while to recover.

I'm really glad Camilla has her sister at her side. He'll be crotchety 😂

hopeishere · 17/01/2024 17:38

Hope she's ok. And poor Charles too!

Just because it's planned doesn't mean that it hasn't become urgent. Actually on this thread we have commented that Kate has looked very tired in recent months so perhaps it is a condition that has worsened and caused increasing pain.

I'm really glad that William has also chosen to scale back his engagements to support his wife and the children rather than the stiff "duty first approach". I always thought it was terrible that CPV was forced to go on an an overseas trip to Greenland (with Fred and Haakon) while her new fiancé, Daniel, underwent his kidney transplant. The official statement was that it was a "family decision" but I always read this as pressure from the Palace and especially the King that she continue her duty.

MotherofPearl · 17/01/2024 18:22

Sophie at an event at the French Residence in London. The black metallic dress is great on her and I think she looks really stylish. It's just her hair that lets her down for me. It's secured at the back with a scrunchie, it seems. A chic bun or chignon would give a more polished finish imo.

MotherofPearl · 17/01/2024 18:23

Photos would help!

Love Sophie’s dress - the sparkle
etc.

I hope Kate has a shedload of Olivia von Halle silk pjs with her. And her kindle. Hospital
sucks, even if you’re in a lovely smart one.

RomainesToBeSeen · 17/01/2024 18:51

Sophie looks lovely in that black dress but yes, the scrunchie, even if it's a royal scrunchie, lets the outfit down.

justasking111 · 17/01/2024 19:05

Is Sophie wearing a friendship bracelet?

Incogg · 17/01/2024 20:02

I loved a velvet scrunchie in the 90s. This brings back memories.

paradyning · 17/01/2024 20:06

Those Olivia Von Halle pjs are something else!

paradyning · 17/01/2024 20:09

And a most excellent eye mask to sleep during the day having been kept up all night from obs and beeping machines.

GrouchyKiwi · 17/01/2024 20:14

Love the fabric of Sophie's dress. She does look very chic, apart from the scrunchie. (I use scrunchies all the time now as they don't get stuck in your hair like thinner hair ties. First got them as DD3 had beautiful ringlets [that have now disappeared, SOB.) It does look like a friendship bracelet on her wrist!

Dear lord, I think I need smelling salts myself after seeing the price of it! Shock

Gooseysgirl · 17/01/2024 20:23

That's my favourite frock that I've seen on Sophie in a very long time. I wish she would stick more to this style, it suits her so well! Would love to see her be a bit more adventurous with her hair..

Maireas · 17/01/2024 20:24

Yes, I think the proportions are just right.
