I really liked the Barbara Sturm serum that was in a beauty drop box earlier this year and eeked out every last drop so I'm hoping for a similar experience with this. i'd have liked a slightly bigger tube though 20ml seems a bit miserly

Bimblesalong · 04/12/2023 08:32

Those asking about the SR serum, I layer face cream over the top.

today’s looks good - perfect for taking away on holidays!

RudolfsLeftToe · 04/12/2023 08:50

I‘m a bit annoyed but I don’t know if I’m being picky, my calendar has two 1 drawers and no number 17 and only a few have the little card that goes with the item. Wondering whether to complain or not, I reuse the calendars for my DC so the two number 1s will be an annoyance for years to come…

Jellycats4life · 04/12/2023 09:28

The only card I’ve received is the one that came with the Seated Queen serum.

Having two #1 boxes is very strange though @RudolfsLeftToe. I’d definitely contact customer services about that. Probably worth checking what’s inside too.

Edit: there should have been a big card with a QR code that you can scan each day and read all about the product. Also a good way of checking you have the correct thing in the correct drawer!

Customer service is really good, so I'd contact them

QueefofSheena · 04/12/2023 09:30

I checked the price of the BS cream. 20ml is £55 😱

Orcadianrythyms · 04/12/2023 09:31

@RudolfsLeftToe - I would message, I had an empty drawer 3 yesterday and looked at the QR sheet and had my husband look in the drawer above and below in case there were two items. The oil was in drawer 24 but now that’s empty so I messaged and got a lovely reply saying they’ll send out the item. It’s very annoying at the price point but I was really impressed with the customer service.
Totally first world problems but I love Christmas Eve and that empty drawer would have been a bit of a downer. I have had a shitty year and just wanted this wee treat to be right.

Starlightdarkness · 04/12/2023 11:30

I've got the big card with the QR code on (word of warning they're not locked so you can open any day at any time) but not any little cards in the drawers. I saw someone on insta had little tickets in each draw, does everyone else have that or is that just for influencer type people?

RudolfsLeftToe · 04/12/2023 12:43

Thanks everyone, I’ve emailed them! I’m actually missing drawer 19 and I know it’s very cheeky but if anyone doesn’t reuse the calendar and throws it out please could I have drawer 19 for next year 🙈
I know it’s a minor mistake but I know it will annoy me every year and for the cost of the calendar you do expect it to be perfect.
The last two calendars had a little description card in every drawer so it’s a shame if they've stopped that.

lozzerjam650 · 04/12/2023 12:54

Omg is it @QueefofSheena !

I'm looking forward to trying it as heard good things but did think 20ml was a bit mean. But maybe not at that price.

clowniform · 04/12/2023 13:34

The cream is a nice basic moisturiser but I'm not sure the radish ferment does much except amuse me and it doesn't amuse me that much. 😮

Buster27 · 04/12/2023 17:00

I wasn't fussed on the BS serum in a previous beauty drop (but I was very much in the minority!) but still looking forward to trying this, I do like a good face cream.

countdowntonap · 04/12/2023 18:13

Can someone share a pic of today’s please. It doesn’t sound like what I’ve got.

Waspie · 04/12/2023 18:25

Oooh, a thread about this advent calendar! My partner bought me one of these this year. Absolutely gorgeous box; I'm definitely going to keep it and bring it out each year.

I don't wear make up, so this is probably a huge waste of his money and I feel bad about this. I have no idea what the different oils, creams and serums are supposed to do or when/where I'm supposed to use them. They will end up in a drawer in the bathroom I expect Xmas Sad

Waspie · 04/12/2023 18:26

Cross posted with Jellycats4life. This is a useful link, thanks

countdowntonap · 04/12/2023 18:27

@Jellycats4life hmm, that’s confirmed my item for today is wrong then. I do actually like it, but would prefer what you’ve all had. Hopefully it’ll crop up in another box.

Jellycats4life · 04/12/2023 18:27

@Waspie The link I’ve posted above will show you information about each product on the Liberty website. It certainly would be a massive waste of money to throw everything into a drawer 😱

Today’s product

Fatlegs46 · 04/12/2023 20:10

Oh! Hi I can join this year!
Very pleased with the Sunday Riley- they are one of my favourite brands. Seated Queen, my skin didn’t reacted well to the cream cleanser last year, the drops will get used though. Tudor I was looking forward to trying, I liked it- but it disappeared after drying down.

Today’s is fine. It’ll be handy if I go away. I’m never massively impressed by Barbara Sturm, but maybe this time?

This is my 3rd calendar and I get the beauty drop too. A word of warning, you’ll end up falling in love with very expensive products and fragrances!!

Netaporter · 05/12/2023 03:35

@Waspie good skincare products can be confusing. I’d recommend looking at Caroline Hiron’s insta page for help on skincare. Essentially you need to know that routines are:

  1. Clean- Cleansers
  2. Follow up with Acid Toner if you use one depending on your skin
  3. Treat - could be a serum /Vit c (brightening and usually AM) or Vit A/Retinol PM
  4. Moisturise
  5. SPF if daytime
if you receive an oil, I usually use it in place of step 3 and depending upon how dry my skin is/the type of oil, I may not moisturise on top of it.

Obviously there are other products you can layer/include.

Re:make up, this calendar tends to have lovely products that suit most colourings.

Hope you enjoy it, it is a lovely treat!

Hadenough2022 · 05/12/2023 06:49

They haven’t had the individual cards in drawers for 2 years now. You can look on the website for details of the product now.

RudolfsLeftToe · 05/12/2023 09:20

@Hadenough2022 I thought mine had them last year, maybe I was just less picky then!
I’ve got the starting of a cold so still haven’t smelt Tudor in all its glory, I’m hoping it’s that and it’s not that it’s too faint for me.
Excited to try the Luna and today’s cream, will wait until the weekend as I’m out on Friday and worried it might start a purge.

Fatlegs46 · 05/12/2023 09:27

Happy today- will get used, rarely get a terrible one!

Jellycats4life · 05/12/2023 09:44

I need a mascara but didn’t buy one because I knew there had to be a mascara in the AC. Have never tried a tubing mascara either, so that’s a bonus.
