I’m sat in our local independent cinema with teenage DD1 waiting for It’s a Wonderful Life to start. Madness really as I have all my wrapping to do and our Christmas plans have been thrown into disarray as my elderly mum has come down with a D&V bug. In the spirit of the thread, I’m wearing the crinkle pinafore I bought in the last flash sale, a Margaret Howell grey cashmere jumper, Falke merino tights and my latest obsession - a pair of Grenson Nanette boots. I realise that I am several years late to the Nanette party. Oh, and because the cinema is always a bit nippy, a Toast big wool wrap scarf. Merry Christmas one and all!

BettinaInDenmark · 24/12/2023 11:01

Thanks, @Saurus72 , for the sales heads up!

You asked about the rinkled dress: I have ordered it in both colours, cause I love those kind of garments. Hopefully they will be delivered between x-mas and new year.

I had another look at the sale last night. There has definitely been added some items since I ordered in the middle of the night between Friday and Saturday. Hmm, I actually like some of the additions.

BettinaInDenmark · 24/12/2023 11:04

And a merry x-mas to all of you!
Here in Denmark, the big event is tonight, with dancing around the christmas tree and gift giving; I guess most of you will have to wait for the gifts till tomorrow morning.

Noeggsontoast · 24/12/2023 11:12

Merry Christmas Eve to all. I've just collected the turkey and am now prepping the roast potatoes before baking cheese scones, a quiche and making gentleman's relish (the store bought is not gluten free) for DH.

We had dinner out last night and in the area we were sitting there were three of us in different Toast dresses.

I'm wearing another Toast dress today bought just before Xmas last year (teal and gold floral) with a Brora mohair cardigan - a recent purchase which is already earning its keep with my dress collection.

My orders are also still pending and no despatch emails yet. I expected that though due to the weekend.

@WhompingWillows sorry to hear about your mum, hope she gets better soon.

HolidayAtNight · 24/12/2023 12:04

The sale is now showing up to non-Kindred! I have a few things on the saved list but holding fire for now in case any of the things I've had my eye on make it in.

agnesmartin · 24/12/2023 12:18

I’ve just received a despatch email. Was half hoping that the Toast elves would have the weekend + Christmas off but also excited to try my purchases.

Snowyowl78 · 24/12/2023 12:19

I got a despatch email too for my first order

MiracleToast · 24/12/2023 12:23

Happy cooking and baking everybody! Wishing everyone a peaceful Christmas 💛

MrsCat1 · 24/12/2023 12:31

Happy Christmas everyone!

@Dee1224
Cake looks rustic but tastes great. Pear sank into it which is lovely. Not too sweet. Yum!

@Saurus72 I know that feeling ,we all thought the crinkle dress was too Bodenesque , but like you having seen it in store I really like it and would love to hear from anyone how it wears IRL

@MrsCat1 That cake !!! Brilliant and very cheery photo !
Loving the sound of the Stilton crackers and various cakes , it all sounds gorgeous.
My Christmas offerings are never very successful : soggy roast potatoes etc because I never normally cook that type of thing. I’ve been given some tips to improve them by a friend so hoping for success!

Wishing all a happy time , and looking forward to our Toast parcel unwrapping !

Dee1224 · 24/12/2023 12:59

Looks so lovely @MrsCat1 !

ScottishMouse · 24/12/2023 13:22

Merry Christmas to all! I am doing my usual Christmas Eve frantic clean of the house (no idea why!), but looking forward to an afternoon eating and reading.
I just got a despatch note for the 3rd of 4 orders (I know I can admit that number here without judgement!). Nothing for the others though.

faustina · 24/12/2023 13:38

Very envious of both the wonderful cooking and baking, and the fact that some orders have been despatched.

I went off piste several Christmases ago and now just make things which we all decide we'd like so no turkey-stress here thank goodness!

I loved that crinkle dress so much, I am quite tempted but I seem to have gone off dresses completely

Countmeout · 24/12/2023 14:39

Cake looks yum @MrsCat1 .

No dispatch emails here.
I thought so long about the Peacoat it went out of stock in my size.

Christmas Eve dressing with Toast! Anyone got this dress??

How beautiful! Now I feel the need for a beautiful crepe ish Toast dress (that doesn't suit my lifestyle for 362 days of the year) to wear for Christmas Eve ...

and Christmas

and New Year

Maybe I 'need' 3 ... 🤔

A day of baking/food prep for us too. OH prepping veggies and I’m making the meringue for a pavlova plus dough for Stilton crackers that I’ll bake for the cheeseboard tomorrow evening - both v reliable Nigella recipes from years ago.

Has anyone tried/does anyone have the check crinkle dress https://www.toa.st/products/check-crinkle-cotton-dress-copper-ecru? It’s so funny because I remember when they were first added to the website thinking they looked awful, really dowdy. But I then saw one in a store and the fabric is lovely. Might be perfect for wfh because the top looks like a smart shirt. Any views gratefully received.

I thought exactly the same as you when I saw the dress online but when I tried it on in the shop I liked it much better in real life but it wasn’t a priority at the time so I didn’t buy it. I’ve just ordered one now. I’m a size 12 and I ordered a medium. Some reviews recommend going down a size but another review said the bodice was quite slim fitting which can be an issue for me so I stuck to my regular size. I remember it being fairly long ( I’m 5ft 7) around half way down my calf I think. I preferred the crinkle version to the one they’d ironed in the shop - apparently once you iron it you never get the crinkles back. I like the idea of it being worn with an oversize boxy charcoal grey cardigan. Very easy to wear and felt comfortable on. I’ll be interested to see if I still like it when it arrives.

Stoic123 · 24/12/2023 16:50

I have cake envy @MrsCat1

Have continued to browse the sales but nothing else is catching my eye. I like the crinkle dresses but know the colours won't look great on me.

Noeggsontoast · 24/12/2023 17:00

@MrsCat1 me too!

I am laughing at the thought of the assistants ironing the bespoke crinkle dress: they must have been cursing the packaging from Toast Towers (a bit like we moan on here when our garments arrive in a crumpled heap.)

No1Mousie · 24/12/2023 17:04

🤣 DH, just forwarded the Toast sale email, with an ironic ‘oh no’ message.

Should I tell him I had early access? 🙈it invariably means a few trips to the post office for him!

Nah! Just send him a screen shot of your orders summary…

I think quite a few customers expressed dissatisfaction with the crinkle idea so Nikki on one of her videos explained the crinkles could be ironed out as an alternative. Toast shop was demonstrating this. I definitely thought the crinkles added to the dress in real
life although I thought it looked awful online !

No1Mousie · 24/12/2023 17:14

@WhompingWillows 🤣 that would be interesting!
