What's classy for nails

I'm travelling to London in a few weeks to see my son. While I'm there I'm meeting his girlfriend's parents for the first time. We're going out to dinner. They are a few years younger and a lot wealthier than me. I have no hangups about that. I'm a confident career professional myself..but they are very wealthy financial services people. I will very much go as myself but do want to get hair and nails done. My style is understated so definitely no bright strong colours, no nail extensions so will be quite short..any recommendations for what's low key and classy in my 50s

I think the teddy BIAB is more "me" than string colours.

I googled milky manicures as suggested and liked these, minus the beautiful long fingers and the cool ring 😀

I'm normally a nude/pale sort of person but decided to go bright red this time and have had lots of compliments!

The more I look at them the classier I think they look.

Nude-look

Shortish. Slightly rounded and in a plain, rich colour. Had mine done today in a dark chocolate brown. But also love a dark claret or navy blue x

I think navy always looks classy or biab in a natural colour , I have that on atm with little gold moons and stars on , understated but a bit different .

Shortish and natural or shortish and red - either bold red or dark red

Definitely natural looking nails that will go with any outfit choice. Coloured nails can run the risk of looking tacky.

Great question OP, I’m currently looking at my awful outgrown acrylics (panicked at a last minute party invite and did them as a one off) and wondering what I can do next! Love the teddy biab manicure above, so elegant.

Slight derail - To those of you who have biab manicures - do you know if it can be done straight after having acrylics removed please?

This is what my nails are like this minute. I'll be getting them done in 3 weeks so will be a little longer. I'm thinking same shape and nude gel polish. The salon I usually go to does shellac or EMI brands. Anyone familiar with a nice nude from these?

Having now seen your nails I would highly recommend a rich dark colour rather than a nude. You don't have very long nail beds (like me) so a pale, nude colour just makes your nails look wider. A dark nail colour is the equivalent of wearing black to look slimmer. And don't forget lashings of cuticle oil at least once a day x

Rouge noir by Chanel or nude.

Interesting @Bookist. I thought a strong colour would emphasise how short they are... dark blobs on the end of my fingers look 😄

When I want an understated nail, I normally go for a translucent pink like @verrymerryberry suggested.

I go with very dark, I have a matte navy and a matte deep forest green. Or I use a really dark burgundy, so dark it could almost be black, can’t remember what the colour is called but I absolutely love it!

love those orange nails @Doggymummar - I have neon orange on my toes!

I think you can't go wrong with a French manicure on top of BIAB! I also love a red too.

The nude BIAB colours are great imho
