Or will you start opening in November?

Either way, it's not long now......time to make your choice (s).

@Watchingpaintdrying

I spent over 145 so I got all 3 sets . Here's a pic of all of them

I am tempted as I love Clarins stuff but it would just be so wasteful of me as I already have a huge stash to get through from last year!

Pinenu · 19/11/2023 09:38

Selfridges now looks to be properly sold out.

I’m still open for a discount next week but feeling it’s less likely as time goes on.

pinkchampagne1 · 19/11/2023 09:50

My sister was bought the Selfridges one from her DH. It looks very impressive.

Twinsandsome · 19/11/2023 09:55

I’m so surprised cult hasn’t put a hefty discount on their to get rid.

Twinsandsome · 19/11/2023 09:56

I would have been tempted by fenwicks purely for Efg but I ordered it on eBay for £50

Pinenu · 19/11/2023 10:15

Huge reductions for the likes of CB may mean they struggle next year as people will hold out for similar discounts instead of buying full price.

But! I did buy Selfridges for 50% off last year and wouldn’t have expected a similar reduction this year as they massively upped their game. So CB could always take a leaf out of their book…

pinkchampagne1 · 19/11/2023 10:26

CB still seems overpriced at £200 as it has lots of small products in. I wonder if they will reduce further or add a gwp.

pinkchampagne1 · 19/11/2023 10:31

I was tempted into Fenwicks for the EFG serum and the expensive moisturiser alongside the good gwp that they still had in store. The following weekend there was no sign of the gift set so I am glad I went for it.
Wondering now whether to leave it as a 12 day calendar or get DH to fill my last year JL calendar with the advent items and some of the bits from the gift set to make it a 25 day one.

narniabusiness · 19/11/2023 10:40

I think any company that reduces their calendar before 1st Dec will end up massively upsetting those who’ve already bought it who will be their loyal customers. So I wouldn’t expect to see reductions until it is too late for them to be delivered by 1st December. What do you think?

pinkchampagne1 · 19/11/2023 10:54

Last year I think they reduced Selfridges by 50% at the end of November. Harrods also reduced by I think 30% and someone said SpaceNK reduced their calendar around Black Friday. All 3 of those have now sold out so who knows. I am kind of hoping there aren’t any massive tempting discounts as I really don’t need any more beauty bits or advent calendars but not sure how strong my resistance would be if there are big discounts!

I disagree. Last year there were loads of fantastic discounts on ACs in November. I was lucky to get the half price Selfridges , Flannels, Cowshed and the amazing £20 Bare minerals glitch.

pinkchampagne1 · 19/11/2023 11:03

Oh and didn’t the Fenwicks one get reduced to half price at the end of November last year? 🤔

Housewife2010 · 19/11/2023 11:06

My Selfridges AC was delivered on 30th November last year. I remember telling the postman/courier what it was & that it was just in time.

FelicityGraceSpoon · 19/11/2023 11:07

I wouldn't touch Elle (for the poster who asked about it)! as it's such a weird buying process. They don't guarantee you one and you're actually buying a subscription that you then have to remember to cancel so all in all, seems a faff

I bought Harrods, Selfridges, Mintd and Space NK and I was gifted the John Lewis. In an attack of guilt at having so many, I sold the Space NK on eBay at cost price and well ... could have sold it 100 times over!

diamondsandrose · 19/11/2023 11:27

I am holding off for a bargain too , keeping the faith . I think a lot of peoples minds don't work like ours and think , oh well it's too late now I'll not buy it . They don't know about Jadvent ! Or at this rate some of us will be doing Febvent and why not I say

diamondsandrose · 19/11/2023 11:30

Also was it on this thread someone asked about face footner?
That was me that called it that years ago! It was an M&S peel , long discontinued.
It was great.
However body shop does a similar product, in a green pump bottle which I've used and liked. Leaves you very smooth and all the gross bits that come off ( yes most of it is the product but the point is that dead skin cells etc come off WITH the product )
You can tell as the gunk is dark brown (!) presume old fake tan , and the product goes on clear / white

shinny · 19/11/2023 11:58

I’ll be gutted if I don’t get one this year so maybe I should stop being stingy and buy one. My beauty stash is very much under control having sold/ used/ gifted lots. Then again I was going to sign up to the beauty drop so maybe I’ll just wait for that.

Yep. I picked up the Cowshed for an amazing £40 last year.

TBF, Fenwick's was a 24 day calendar the last few years and last year's was considerably more expensive with small products. I think last year was a stumble, hence this year's 12 day calendar instead.

It used to be lovely and the boxes were always amazing. The sizes of the products put me off last year, though, so didn't get it.

itsalongwaybackfromsorry · 19/11/2023 13:09

At least John Lewis offers a refund of the difference to shoppers when they drop their calendar's price.

I haven't opened mine yet. I think it will be Jadvent. This fab group meant I got it for £40 too. I complained about the missing full size serum (there was a mistake where they publicised the 2021's calendar contents which contained the serum, but sent the 2022 infamous emery board one instead) and they sent me the serum which I've put in the final drawer.

Pinenu · 19/11/2023 13:35

I hope we don’t see more GWP/points offers on those ACs still in stock, they’ve tried that already.

I’d go for CB, Sephora or Liberty with a decent discount.

I complained about the lack of serum as well, but they ran out of it, so instead they surprisingly refunded the entire £40. Hadn't expected that! I think I was in the minority on that resolution, though.

Yes. Although last year they reduced it the day after that refund could be claimed by people who bought it on day of release. So not that lovely of them.

PomRuns · 19/11/2023 13:44

Agre@Doubleraspberry they wouldn’t refund me.
