Beauty Advent Calendars 2023 Part D- waiting till December?

1000 replies

Stoic123 · 31/10/2023 22:18

Or will you start opening in November?

Either way, it's not long now......time to make your choice (s).

Continuing the thread.

"This is a thread to discuss the buying of beauty calendars and not the opening of them. There may be general discussion about contents of a calendar but please do not share information about what is behind a specific door you've opened. Thank you"

Thanks for the new thread. Still nothing else that interests me, did have a look at M&S one again as I'm going there later but nothing catches my eye. Maybe Vogue if that has 66% off!

medianewbie · 01/11/2023 07:55

I've never bought myself a beauty Advent calendar before (too broke). Still broke but in need of a treat. Would M&S be a good place to start please? (budget £50 or less ...)

Possimpible · 01/11/2023 07:57

@Stoic123 yes I'd prefer if anyone is opening that they use a separate thread - I'm a traditionalist and it's not December! I think if you report your post MNHQ can edit for you

Emmmmz9 · 01/11/2023 07:58

I agree might be better to have a separate thread for opening spoilers

medianewbie · 01/11/2023 08:00

Oops! I just looked & it's £340. Ah, well.

AprilLady · 01/11/2023 08:05

Thanks for the new thread @Stoic123 . Agree this should be a buying thread.

I’ll be waiting for December to open mine. Hopefully Vogue will be dispatched in the next few days. I’ll be opening that and Sephora in December.

AprilLady · 01/11/2023 08:07

@medianewbie M&S is £45 provided you spend £35 on other (non food) items from M&S. If you are shopping online just put it all in your basket and the price will adjust.

I do think it’s a very good under £50 option if you’ve never had one before.

poorchurchmouse · 01/11/2023 08:11

I cracked and got M&S as well as H&B. I won’t open either till December, though - I want to save one for January.

CountryCob · 01/11/2023 08:17

I am waiting until December with cowshed but unsure as to whether I will get another before then. Doing a big product clear out as part of house renovation so have a stash to clear. I do like the look of M&S too...

TheChosenTwo · 01/11/2023 08:21

Have had my space nk one waiting patiently in my office since September, I almost forgot I had it until reading this!
I only bought the one so I’m waiting until December. Not long to go now.

tryingsomethingnew · 01/11/2023 08:23

Adding to my watchlist. Thank you for organising all of this.

I'm holding out for a discount code or offer.
Went o space NK store yesterday and she said they were sold out in stores and online.

pinkchampagne1 · 01/11/2023 08:24

M&S drops to £45 if you spend £35 on non sale items in store or online. Looks like it has a nice selection of things in it.
Think there is a code to get the No7 one down to £39 too. Have had that calendar in the past and it was good.

TreesinthePark · 01/11/2023 08:25

Thanks for the new thread.
I'm tempted by the Space NK fragrance calendar despite not knowing what most of them smell like!

Puravida23 · 01/11/2023 08:25

@medianewbie isn’t M&S pricing crazy I wonder how many other people reject the advent calendar initially because they think it is £340 without realising there is an offer attached . I know I watched their own unboxing on the day it launched which had an online chat attached and there was lots of confusion from callers then on how much it was how to get it reduced , does it need a code etc
Despite this M&S is a great under £50 option with lots of brilliant brands in

tryingsomethingnew · 01/11/2023 08:25

Yes Martin Lewis mentioned it last night, made me chuckle as I was thinking of our threads.

tryingsomethingnew · 01/11/2023 08:28

Also, sorry but I guess you've moved on much, but did anyone recommend a more make up beauty calendar? Id like a mixture but not keen on trying new skincare so more of a treat box, more make up. Thank you!

Bimblesalong · 01/11/2023 08:34

I’ve got Liberty for Dec and think I’ll save my space nk for gloomy January.

BaconAndAvocado · 01/11/2023 08:35

I second this being just a buying thread and NOT an opening one.

Would appreciate a heads up Stoic123 when you have time.

@medianewbie as others have mentioned, it reduces if you buy £35 worth of stuff. It's worth noting that if you need to return what you have purchased, you get to keep the calendar as they don't accept returns on it.

narniabusiness · 01/11/2023 09:04

@medianewbie I had the M&S last year and it was. very good value with a nice mix of skincare, hair are, perfume and makeup. At a quick glance it seemed to have a similar mix this year. The two years before that I had Holland and Barret which is mostly skincare with some hair care but no makeup. I thought they were good products if those eco brands are something you like.

medianewbie · 01/11/2023 09:12

@narniabusiness - Thank you! Dd needs some new period pants (20% off at M&S) so that's a result! @OchonAgusOchonOh - the H&B one sounds nice too, I'm off to have a look. I have a Jan b'day so could defo cope with one for Dec & one for Jan. I'm assuming they sell out rather than overstock & reduce so I'd better choose quickly! x

QueefofSheena · 01/11/2023 09:13

I would also prefer this to be a buying thread. We are going to start seeing reductions from now so having unboxing too could be a bit chaotic.

Debenhams have the Clarins 12 day AC for £55.25 now as they've started their Black Friday offers early. They also had a couple of Yankee ACs reduced and about £15 off of the Debenhams one. That went right down to £36 last year, so I'm going to watch and wait to see what happens.

PomRuns · 01/11/2023 09:16

Thanks for the new thread. I’m still in the wilderness but likely to get Liberty.

QueefofSheena · 01/11/2023 09:17

Sorry @Stoic123 forgot to say thanks for the new thread!

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 01/11/2023 09:50

Just caved with the M&S one-you can get it for £45 currently (on sale for £340) if you spend £35 on other stuff so bought the kids some PJs for Christmas Eve.
