Flattering jumpers for big bust?

I've lost a lot of weight so am trying to put together a new wardrobe. It should be exciting but I could weep at how awful/frumpy/poor quality everything seems to be atm. I'm a tall size 16 with big boobs and an hourglass figure so chunky knits, oversized and high-necked jumpers and cardigans make me look like a barrage balloon. And it seems like that's ALL there is out there. I also find the endless beige, black and navy options really dreary and unflattering on me - I love colour and pattern! I need fine-knits in a v-neck/square/sweetheart neckline, ideally not in block colours. Am I searching for the impossible? Can anyone recommend any brands I should look into? Thanks!

I find raglan sleeves very flattering

I got some lovely fine knit wool jumpers from Uniqlo, they had great colours too. I wasn’t looking for different necklines though as I can manage a round neck.

I can’t tell if this is a serious suggestion or a joke. That’s the ugliest jumper I have ever seen and it’s 80%viscose and 20%nylon so wtf is the point of it? No warmth and hideous with it.

KirstenBlest · 31/10/2023 20:42

@CaptainBarnaclesandthevegemals , quite.

https://fairliecurved.com/ specialise in clothes for the large of nork. The jumpers tend to be drop shoulder which don't seem to flatter my G cups, but most people rave about them.

bendmeoverbackwards · 31/10/2023 23:20

@PaperBlinds I have this cardigan in grey, bought last year. It’s lovely on and very flattering. I wear a vest top underneath it.

I would look at wrap cardigans, but if you prefer jumpers, then look for those with slouchy neck, or low neck. They show your decolletage and stop the matronly look
Avoid polo necks and crew necks.

You can still get bravissimo/pepperberry tops on vinted and eBay
ASOS do fuller busy range too

I was going to suggest Uniqlo, as someone has already done. I have the fine knit merino one in a lovely burgundy. It's warm but thin and light and really good value. I'm going to get more colours as it's so fab.
Have to say though, I find cardies easier than chunky knits, so you can wear a T, vest or even silky/smart top underneath. I have a cream rib one with balloon sleeves which goes with most stuff and is much more flattering on me than the equivalent chunky jumper would be.

gratedbluecheese · 01/11/2023 10:58

yes definitely cardigans. I favour long cardis with a fitted top underneath.

Also, warm zip up hoodies can be good! you can go for looser with a fitted top underneath worn cardigan style, or more fitted.

jurassictart · 01/11/2023 11:03

Arket has some very good thin merino jumpers at the moment which are good for curves / big busts.

KnittedCardi · 01/11/2023 11:14

Another vote for Uniqlo v necked merino. Isn't it telling that they are the only option though!

Personally wrap never works, they are never wrapped enough, always gape, and M&S are never long enough to take account of big norks, they just get bigger and bigger all over especially, for some reason the arms, weird.

I am shortish, with a 32HH, so small, but top heavy. I am an overall size 10/12, but boobs are classified as an 18. It's really hard to find clothes.

Mint velvet or phase eight batwing jumpers

Hobbs?

I'm always looking for V or sweetheart neck jumpers but not in wool. Can't wear it, nope not even merino or cashmere. I'm ADHD with eczema and big boobs. Like a pp I also can't wear wrap over tops because they gape.

EwwSprouts · 01/11/2023 14:40

I think this from Sosander would look fab on an hour glass figure https://www.marksandspencer.com/cotton-blend-v-neck-button-detail-jumper/p/clp22572871#intid=pid_pg1pip48g4r7c3|prodflag_Online%20Only

Mint velvet or phase eight batwing jumpers

The only Mint Velvet batwing jumpers I’ve seen have a really high neck and are not great for bigger boobs. Just my opinion though. I love a batwing generally.

Boopear · 01/11/2023 18:59

Have just bought a Sosander top I really didn’t need 😳. Thanks @EwwSprouts - hope it is as lovely as it looks!

PaperBlinds · 01/11/2023 19:07

@bendmeoverbackwards oh that's great to hear - so nice to have a personal endorsement! I thought a vest or even a nice cami would work!

Firefretted · 01/11/2023 19:19

Thanks, all! Lots of great suggestions to look into
