Flattering jumpers for big bust?

I've lost a lot of weight so am trying to put together a new wardrobe. It should be exciting but I could weep at how awful/frumpy/poor quality everything seems to be atm. I'm a tall size 16 with big boobs and an hourglass figure so chunky knits, oversized and high-necked jumpers and cardigans make me look like a barrage balloon. And it seems like that's ALL there is out there. I also find the endless beige, black and navy options really dreary and unflattering on me - I love colour and pattern! I need fine-knits in a v-neck/square/sweetheart neckline, ideally not in block colours. Am I searching for the impossible? Can anyone recommend any brands I should look into? Thanks!

Have just bought a Sosander top I really didn’t need 😳. Thanks @EwwSprouts - hope it is as lovely as it looks!

You are welcome! Very tempted myself.

I'm always looking for V or sweetheart neck jumpers but not in wool. Can't wear it, nope not even merino or cashmere. I'm ADHD with eczema and big boobs. Like a pp I also can't wear wrap over tops because they gape.

Primark and Tesco have some soft v neck jumpers. I also have ADHD and sensory issues, I could never wear wool.

Wouldn’t that gape on a big bust?

This! I have 3!

Again, gape alert!

I really like raglan sleeves too. Always avoid a dropped shoulder where the shoulder is actually sitting on your upper arm. That's so unflattering I find.

@CaptainBarnaclesandthevegemals I can’t tell if this is a serious suggestion or a joke. That’s the ugliest jumper I have ever seen and it’s 80%viscose and 20%nylon so wtf is the point of it? No warmth and hideous with it.

I'm glad someone said it.
I guess if it's for sale then there must be buyers but that is one fugly jumper

I never understand why people recommend wrap tops/dresses for big boobs. I have big boobs and wrap tops either gape open, or the wrap side falls under my boob which is not a flattering look!

@wesurecouldstandgladioli

I am a 32 DDD, it does not gape. It hugs.

Aria999 · 02/11/2023 11:27

It's not even especially low cut.

I am also a size 16 with large breasts. Unfortunately, I tend to carry weight on my tummy - a classic apple - so that is tricky. I find that v-necked jumpers, slightly larger (not baggy) that are very soft and with a slight stretch tend to work best. I have a lovely cashmere one from Mint Velvet a year or two ago that I still wear. This season, if I was buying, I'd look at this one but wouldd be worried the cotton wouldn't offer enough flex or this one

I do also like a bit of a pattern or texture. I've had a couple from Boden over the years but tend to find that if my tummy is feeling bit bigger, they're bad!

I quite like this even though a horizontal stripe stresses me out.

If you want to wear something over something else, I have a long line cashmere jumper that I absolutely love. It skims over all the right places and is super warm even though it's not particularly thick. It IS more on the casual side however.

I have had versions of this John Lewis cashmere v-necked jumper over the years. The quality is not as high as I'd like, but they tend to be very nice. But I buy size 18. The colours this year are quite nice - they've been a bit wishy washy in previous years and/or had weird sleeves/hems.

I'm sorry but those Roman jumpers are hideous, and are all synthetic, so it's a no from me.

No. It's not actually wrap, just looks it.

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 02/11/2023 17:03

The Sosander one is nice, but cotton and viscose aren't warm.

Cashmere is warm, I think.

madeinmanc · 02/11/2023 17:36

Can we not say "norks" please? 😬

floofbag · 02/11/2023 17:46

If you are hourglass then west right tops or bodies and cardis if you want to show your figure .

Darklane · 02/11/2023 18:50

Woolover have lots of colours in all their things. The v neck Marino/ cashmere mix are particularly soft & wear really well. I have several that are years old but still like new.

I'm glad it's not just me..........blimey; it's truly hideous.

Boopear · 02/11/2023 18:55

Thought I'd report back on the Sosander one. Not bad on my 34JJ 's and surprisingly warm. And no gaping!

I’m hourglassy and find things with waist shaping the most flattering, but hard to find!. Pure Collection do some v neck cardigans which taper at the waist - 100% cashmere, so very snuggly and a bit stretchy. Not the cheapest, but they last well if you take care of them. Normally they have a wide colour range, bit more restricted this year but I heard that ‘safe’ colours and fewer choices is industry-wide this year.
