Was on the MN email but I deleted it in a fit of tidyness!

Its a full length coat that was described as being like wearing a sleeping bag......iirc was about £130.

A word of warning on the Uniqlo down jackets - if they have zip pockets, the quality of them can be awful. Both of my pocket zips failed within a couple of months. I did wash the jacket in the end because it was filthy and it was OK the first couple of times but now the down won’t fluff any more and seems to have disintegrated. So now I have a sort of empty jacket which is far too big and has broken zips.

I won’t be buying a replacement!

I have one from lands end and a sleeveless one from LTS. Great for dog walks and being out in the cold.

Tiddlywinkly · 20/10/2023 18:14

I've had this type of coat since a holiday to Iceland in February 2022. That was cold and I was very grateful for it (Uniqlo). Wool sometimes doesn't cut it!

Tiddlywinkly · 20/10/2023 18:15

No probs with quality of Uniqlo for me

Could be the outdoor Oodie? https://theoodie.co.uk/collections/outdoor-oodies/products/copy-of-black-zip-through-outdoor-oodie, although the Superdry one is nicer

This is taking things too far….

I managed to get this half price in the sale: https://www.didriksons.com/en/women/jackets/winter-jackets/li-women-s-parka-3-504490-300
I travel to Eastern Europe for work a lot and it is AMAZING.

Love it, the colour is great too.

It won't link but this one . It's fitted and there is 20% off for members at the mo .

Honestly I've had these coats for years and am considered stylish and it's great value .

The quality of Matalan is often underrated for the price !

This is brilliant. Have just ordered one! I’m with you re Matalan - I’ve had some great stuff from them over the years and the quality is pretty good.

I have had my North face arctic parka for about 15 years. It is the ugliest coat and I have bought many since. But when the chips are down and it’s -10, nothing comes close and I care not what I look like. I was going to invest in a new coat this year but winter is short ( but brutal) where I live so I am going to sit on my hands and wait for Spring!

floofbag · 22/10/2023 10:24

@MachineBee hope you like it 🤩

I’m sure I will. The picture look good. And with discount it was an absolute bargain.

macbethany · 22/10/2023 17:51

Biggest laugh I've had all day. (I also thought it looked tailored to a hot water cylinder)

Tusue · 05/11/2023 21:34

I am rather a short arse and a big one at that I’d look liKe one of Ken Dodds didymium men if I wore that coat ( go on google images if you’re too young to remember the daddy men)

I bought a german army issue parka from a shop in Waterloo when I went to Iceland. It is also rather cool looking and the - very heavy - inside woolly bit can be taken out so you just have a more lightweight parka to waft about in come spring. I actually found it too warm with the inner attached! Cost a bargain £45 too. Unfortunately, I have had men of a certain age have a go at me because of the tiny German flag on the arm. I just point out they are raging at a coat...

I bought this puffy one from M&S last year in a sort of olive colour as I loved the orange detailing it had and it didn't seem too Michelin man. It is very warm and I like the way it hangs. Apparently now only in black with lime detailing though. https://www.marksandspencer.com/stormwear-fleece-lined-longline-parka/p/clp60604588?prevPage=srp#intid=pid_pg1pip48g4r2c2

Never do this! it will dry unevenly and clumpy and smell damp
Down needs a low temperature tumble drier and you can re-proof anything waterproof easily in washing machine

Wannabegreenfingers · 06/11/2023 11:31

From my experience Superdry coats are poor quality. I went through 2 in 2 years.

nunsflipflop · 06/11/2023 12:00

I am on the larger side, and short, but we work at outside events at the weekends. I bought the Oodie coat, in pink. I look like a giant marshmallow, it I care not a jot because I am warm and cosy in it

DancyNancy · 06/11/2023 19:42

I got a lovely down filled long coat in Mountain Warehouse. It's so cosy!
It was 50% off paid €130. Think sale has ended/price increased now.

This one.

I'm 5'10" and it's about upper calf length on me.
Seems to repel water well too, any rain I've been in so far has beaded and rolled off.
The double layer at the front is really nice to keep chest cosy walking into wind.

Ordered my normal size and it has generous room for layers underneath.
It's certainly not flattering but very cosy.

I bought a Seasalt one in the sale last year for about £80 iirc, it's puffa and waterproof, I'm 5'10 so got a tall one, I shall get it out again this year

I have one from Sweary Betty but it’s too big to fold down into the car and if I bend over when I wear it I feel like the Michelin Man. But it’s very good for country walks as long as you’re careful about brushing next to twigs. My husband hates it but I was in Coal Drops Yard recently and they were everywhere.

Sweary Betty? 😁 I like it.

SeenYourArse · 06/11/2023 22:32

I have a gorgeous almost ankle length (but I am 5’3) black, down filled puffer coat from Tommy Hilfiger it was a splurge at £360 but it’s absolutely lovely, so warm and cosy but importantly it’s shaped so it’s as flattering as a down jacket can be! Cut v nicely and the softest warmers pockets ever! I literally adore it
