Was on the MN email but I deleted it in a fit of tidyness!

Its a full length coat that was described as being like wearing a sleeping bag......iirc was about £130.

Thanks!

I'm 5 foot and size 8 and dupe dry swamps me ..

I got the Matalan one that no one will buy because they don't trust that it's nice lol but I'll link it anyways .

It's much nicer than the black super dry one and vegan and much cheaper .

floofbag · 19/10/2023 05:59

It won't link but this one . It's fitted and there is 20% off for members at the mo .

Honestly I've had these coats for years and am considered stylish and it's great value .

The quality of Matalan is often underrated for the price !

@floofbag I like this!! can I ask how it fits? I'm usually a size 10-12 and 5.4 but pregnant atm !

I went to Matalan once. I bought a bra. When I got it home I realised it had a Möbius strap.

McIntire · 19/10/2023 06:11

I’ve got one from Uniqlo

RedSquirrelsRock · 19/10/2023 06:14

In a nutshell they look bloody awful, but each to their own opinion it's a free country.

RedSquirrelsRock · 19/10/2023 06:15

Aaos and Rick Ownens style shown that is.

RedSquirrelsRock · 19/10/2023 06:16

Asos and Rick Owens !!😊

floofbag · 19/10/2023 06:17

@crankit it's really fab for the price .

It's fitted and I got the 8. There is a different style which isn't fitted and I don't think the material is as nice if you needed less shape to it .

I'd go 12 if you are usually slim or 14 if you want it bigger

I think next do maternity puffers in their £60 ish range and they are nicer material this year ( I work there ) .. hang on I'll look

I have one from Sweary Betty but it’s too big to fold down into the car and if I bend over when I wear it I feel like the Michelin Man. But it’s very good for country walks as long as you’re careful about brushing next to twigs. My husband hates it but I was in Coal Drops Yard recently and they were everywhere.

Big fan of Sweary Betty over here! 😁Best autocorrect of the day and it's barely 7am!

Coatsrus · 19/10/2023 07:43

I’m partial to these ones:

I don't know if it's always you or if other posters do this as well but that's a link to the Next app, not the item of clothing.

Definitely think I’d suit “Sweary Betty” better than Sweaty Betty 😆

If you don't care too much about style and want to be warm, I recommend Land's End. They have half price sales and are very good quality: deep pockets, efficient hoods, soft.... Much sneered at on here but honestly I can't see the difference between them and any other long puffer. Certainly better than some above.

Graciebobcat · 19/10/2023 08:16

It's similar to all the other long down coats that have been around for ten years+.

I got one from Lands End in 2013, just replaced it with another last winter.

goody2shooz · 19/10/2023 08:33

@PyongyangKipperbang have you looked at Uniqlo? I have a couple of their ultra light down numbers - as a fellow ‘cauld tattie’ I find them v cosy, have a coat and a jacket. And they pack away to next to nothing…..

Neriah · 19/10/2023 08:34

PyongyangKipperbang · 19/10/2023 02:03

I would put my biggest jumper on, try them both and keep the one that still allows for half a stone of "winter padding"! But that just me!

Actually I have the Asos one - although from a couple of years back - and deliberately bought it two sizes too big! I am disabled and you wouldn't believe the wind-chill factor on a mobiluty scooter in winter whilst walking the dog in a park at the top of very high hills! I can fit the thermal vest / leggings, the "ordinary" winter clothes, and a super thick fleece or similar and still have room for another layer if it really is that cold.

floofbag · 19/10/2023 08:47

@NatashaDancing sorry it's the share link from the app and I presume it worked 🙈

Basically next have a couple of maternity puffers for around £60 on their website .

Actual next ones not branded ones .

VeronicaBeccabunga · 19/10/2023 09:03

Word of caution: I thought my Uniqlo coat was washable, but it says 'hand wash only, do not spin, do not tumble dry, do not dry clean'

I imagine trying to wash this vast bag of feathers and it hanging about all soggy and never getting dry again.

I may have to replace it simply because it's dirty.

My shorter polyester filled jacket washes and tumbling dry with tennis balls or those wool dryer balls makes it good as new.

Medlady · 19/10/2023 09:31

I’ve always washed
my down coats and jackets, most of which have been from Uniqlo
