Am considering a blind buy of Laura Mercier's Vanille, can't get to a John Lewis at the moment and our Boots don't stock it.

I already have Milk Musk by Molten Brown but there's something in there that I really don't get along with, plus it really doesn't last. I like a mature, sensual scent, can be gourmand, but I would prefer non-unisex.
I want a warm hug with a bit of ambiguity. Sweet yet subtle. Somewhat multifaceted, but each note needs to sing. So this is a winter thing, so not particularly fresh but not oriental either.

Perfumes that I just don't get along with or fade too quickly:
By the Fireside (just harsh on me).
All Byredo and Diptyque!
All Jo Malone.
Chanel and Dior.

What I do get along with, at least historically:
Cookies and Cashmere (clinique?).
Body Shop's blue musk - but it does not last aaagh!
Orange soleia by Guerlain (but for summer only, and again no longevity).
Some rose scents.

I am not a perfume snob and love Lidl's Chantou, it actually sticks around, but it isn't quite 'me'. I am happy to pay up to £80 or thereabouts.

Thierry Mugler Angel is very vanilla-y

thedevilinablackdress · 05/10/2023 21:12

I used to love Serge Lutens Une Bois vanille. I think it would fit your criteria but may well be over £80 these days!

Guineapiggiesmalls · 05/10/2023 21:17

Floral street’s wild vanilla orchid?

ShellySarah · 05/10/2023 21:19

Lancome hypnose is very vanilla bit not sure if still around. I think discontinued

echinaceadreams · 05/10/2023 21:19

Killian - angels share. Get a sample first though. It's boozy but there definite vanilla in the dry down

Shadyboots23 · 05/10/2023 21:19

Kayali vanilla?

Kayali vanilla?

Ah was going to suggest this one also was just checking the name on the bottle. This one is definitely vanilla

Fizzadora · 05/10/2023 21:21

Guerlain's Shalimar was always quite vanilla.

Somewhat amazingly I am a big fan of Eilish by Billie Eilish. It's very vanilla-y which is what I was searching for, and lasts really well.

JMSA · 05/10/2023 21:22

The Victoria's Secret vanilla one? It's certainly a body spray, but perhaps they have it in perfume form too.

BeansOnToast32 · 05/10/2023 21:23

My autumn/winter fragrance is Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille.

I bought a small bottle of the Huda Beauty Vanilla 28 to try last year that some users on here raved about but I really don't like it. I don't get much of a vanilla scent and it gives me a headache.

GenialHarryGr0ut · 05/10/2023 21:24

Another vote for Serge Lutens Une Bois vanille.

TotalOverhaul · 05/10/2023 21:25

Vanille Tonka by Nicolai might sit you as the Tonka bean scent is slightly spicy so more sensual.

I love Amour du Cacao, delicious, everyone complements me on the fragrance

Mix56 · 05/10/2023 21:30

Sorry it in french but you can find it in english, several vanilla choices

DrMarshaFieldstone · 05/10/2023 21:31

I know this sounds mad but good-quality vanilla extract (not essence) can be applied to the skin as a fragrance!

Shadyboots23 · 05/10/2023 21:32

Few more to look up (I use Fragrantica)

Clean reserve skin
Signature mont black
Montale vanille absolu
4160 Tuesdays creamy vanilla crumble

The absolute best vanilla is made by a small indie brand called Kyse, bonbon vanille but they're not U.K. based
They do samples though and I recommend them if you fancied a try

Graasspp · 05/10/2023 21:38

I love fragrantica website, you can search perfumes by notes and lots of info there

Graasspp · 05/10/2023 21:39

I cam spend hours on here

My favourite is DKNY Pure with a drop of vanilla, but sadly it's no longer made so can be tricky to get hold of. I'm interested in some of the suggestions on here and hope to try some when in town tomorrow. Maybe I've found its replacement.

mdinbc · 05/10/2023 22:05

I recently bought Devotion by Dolce and Gabbana. I had gone to my local drug store beauty counter and asked the woman to recommend something citrusy with warm undertones, and she suggested this.

I've been wearing it as a daytime fragrance and loving it. It's a cosy warm fragrance for fall and winter.

Wotwotwotwotwot · 05/10/2023 22:07

Hypnotic Poison by Dior is my most complemented vanilla

LittleBoxesOnAHillside · 05/10/2023 22:11

OMG thank you!!! I hadn't thought about searching that site via ingredient!

Loving all of these and will be taking a closer look.

Zara have got a whole vanilla collection. I haven't tried any of them but I'm a big fan of their perfumes. I was looking at reviews on them on frangrantica yesterday but decided to stick to my usual rather than blind buy.
