Nigella Lawson's secret

GreenMushrooms · 27/09/2023 21:04

Just watched Nigella Lawson (filmed in 2017): At my Table, and I have to say that she looks great! I haven't seen her recently, but what's her secret? Other than being incredibly wealthy. How can I get her look? Is she still looking fabulous at 60??

Good genes
Good make up
Good lighting
Botox
Fillers

MissLucyEyelesbarrow · 27/09/2023 21:07

I hope this doesn't sound catty, because it's not meant to be, but one factor is that she is a bit heavier than 90% of female celebs. And she looks so much better for it.

TheMurderousGoose · 27/09/2023 21:09

She's most likely had a facelift at some point.

She's diligent about protecting her skin from the sun.

The lighting on all her shows is incredibly flattering.

Plus she was beautiful to begin with which always helps!

WhereAreWeNow · 27/09/2023 21:20

She's always been a beautiful woman.
She also has loads of money for the best beauty treatments etc
Fillers/botox/maybe surgery.

Libraryloiterer · 27/09/2023 21:26

I saw her in person a few years ago and she certainly didn't look like she'd had a face-lift because I remember the softness around her jaw and how refreshingly natural it looked. Weirdly I also noticed her wrists and said to my partner how they added to her overall femininty - she really is strikingly gorgeous.

FitAt50 · 27/09/2023 21:28

She is also a genuinely lovely person, one of life's thoroughly kind people.

Murpe · 27/09/2023 21:32

She says it's because she eats a lot of fat, "moisturise from the inside". I am selflessly prepared to become a human guinea pig exploring this theory, and follow her example.

What’s her secret?

Cocaine.

What’s her secret?

Cocaine.

a predictable gag to make but not one that really works in this context. cocaine is not beauty enhancing.

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 27/09/2023 21:38

What’s her secret?

Cocaine.

If cocaine was a beauty secret then half the female population of SW London would look drop dead gorgeous.

But they don't.

I think she just has good genes and looks after herself.

Farmageddon · 27/09/2023 21:44

I love her, but honestly I think she overdid it with the fillers for a while. I saw her at an event a few years ago, and while standing 20 feet away she looked fantastic - but up close you could see her cheeks were quite puffy and her eyes looked a bit squinty. I think maybe whatever fillers she had just hadn't settled or something.
Anyway her secret is money and effort.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 27/09/2023 21:48

Money
Genetics from her mother
Money
Good food
Avoiding sun damage
Money
Plastic surgery
Filler
Botox
Money

Curvaceous is probably the word you are looking for. Like Marilyn Monroe.
Far more attractive than the starved string beans and the inflated boobs/tiny waist/huge arse/huge lips type

TravellingT · 27/09/2023 22:18

Really good shapewear, classic clothes. She knows how to do her makeup (or her artists do) to highlight her face. Plenty of fillers too but she looks fab.

Fluckle · 27/09/2023 22:28

Having met her in real life, close up, in normal light though she was wearing makeup, she's got the most amazing porcelain like skin, I couldn't stop staring at her it was so striking. No obvious signs of work, so it was very good if she has. She also wasn't "heavier", she was actually much smaller than I thought she would be, very doll like. Maybe the assumption that she's bigger comes from many famous women of her age being frighteningly thin?

gogomoto · 27/09/2023 22:42

Hair extensions I suspect too, her hair is very thick for 60+

therealcookiemonster · 27/09/2023 22:42

@MissLucyEyelesbarrow come on, give it up! she's a great cook and she loves food. who are we to judge. also she's been through some serious tough times. she is actually one of the few celebrities I would love to meet

That's exactly my point. I didn't say she was overweight. But I said - and you sound like you're agreeing with me - that she is heavier than most other female celebs.

therealcookiemonster · 27/09/2023 22:46

@Fluckle I'm jealous you got to meet her! what was she like personality wise?

therealcookiemonster · 27/09/2023 22:51

tbh I am finding this thread quite catty. here is a woman, who has found success, she is beautiful (not that her looks should matter), she has suffered tragedy, she is a mother, she inspires others (me certainly!) to eat good food, enjoy life etc. etc. as other women, we should be celebrating her, not tearing her down. she might have had some work done, if that makes her happy it's none of our business. she developed a drug habit, yes - again not for us to pass judgement.

And what in me saying that she is heavier than the typical size 6 celeb contradicts that? She looks good: they look skeletal.

Lots of projection going on here. I'm not calling you fat, Hun. Does that help?

Are you saying it’s not ok to judge someone who uses cocaine and contributes to a terrible, terrible industry that destroys countless lives every year?

Almostwelsh · 27/09/2023 22:56

Looking at her figure, I think she wears a corset. A woman of her age probably doesn't have a natural hourglass figure.

I wish I knew where to get one like she has, she looks great.

therealcookiemonster · 27/09/2023 23:12

@MissLucyEyelesbarrow awww look at you trying to patronise me with assumptions about my mental state and weight, how lovely.

Well that is not how your initial post came across. you simply stated that she is heavier than other celebs of her age cohort. and heavy is a negative term when used in reference to the female body.

my point, if I wasn't clear is commenting on women's bodies (unless you are someone helping that individual become healthier) is neither pleasant, nor helpful.
