Parked very near by too! Anyway, had a lovely fish lunch and ahem - a fair bit of wine.

OftenOrange · 06/10/2023 17:45

Loving the Space check shorts @Countmeout@ilovecherries and the. tiered sundress must be beautiful .

@dudsville I empathise with your mixed feelings about Jessa dungarees , ( one of my most worn Toast items cost per wear etc)
Sometimes I’ve done the same , tried and discounted ,only to later try again and love.
I think some of that is getting used to a new look , it sounds as if the ecru barrel legs ( which I had taken off my sale order grrrz) have opened you to different possibilities. Have you tried a denim pinafore dress ?

@Snowyowl78 I tried the Flower Mountain trainers in Toast in my usual size …massive. Today I went specially to the Folk women’s store which I frequented before COVID , T hey have different colourways but are almost sold out with just a few sizes left.
I tried a size down in a gorgeous brown/ purple/ cerise mix with a sturdier fuzzy material in mottled browny pinks in place of that cream fleece. Unfortunately the smaller was comfy but my toes hit the end , I preferred them in the richer colours but leff. empty handed.

OftenOrange · 06/10/2023 18:48

Could anyone advise on the fit of this dress around the bodice please
It seems to be very snug?

@OftenOrange - the palm poplin dress isn't snug around the bodice. Picture just shows the belt drawn in tightly.

I’m a 32FF/G and have loads of room in mine. I have a 12 but could easily wear a 10.

dudsville · 06/10/2023 20:12

That makes sense@OftenOrange and leaves me feeling less embarrassed! And i haven't bought a denim pinafore but i did make the denim wrap dress into one and do love it similarly.

And, like @stoic says, i have that palm print in my actual high street size, it's loose but not way way loose.

dudsville · 06/10/2023 20:29

There's a space check tiered dress on vinted size 6, but not cheap. If anyone's considering it who hasn't tried it word of warning, I'm a hs 14 and bought a 10.

clowniform · 06/10/2023 22:23

@dudsville Forgot to say this earlier but I really enjoyed reading your dungaree deliberations and felt less alone/mad for giving so much headspace to clothes 😁I'm a proper adult with responsibilities, honest (and having a bit of a stressful time lately too) but this thread is a place of serious joy. ❤

Enjoying holidaying vicariously through @ilovecherries too, please do keep the outfit posts coming (I for one am not fussed if they're not Toast!)

@Dee1224 the label advises dry clean (hahaha no) or cold handwash, but I bunged it in frontloader on a 30º wool cycle and it's perfect. Any commercial knitwear will have been scoured in hot water and hardcore detergents to remove the machine oils before making it to the consumer, so there's really no need to baby it IME. It's the combo of heat and agitation which shrinks/felts wool so as a general rule, pick just one and you should be good.
You are definitely not alone in experiencing skin sensitivity changes. I know serveral knitty friends who've cycled through being un/able to tolerate various fibres. Processing methods/chemicals are constantly evolving and likely play a part too.

@MsDastardley Oh, cringe! I actually thought that collection looked quite nice in the Brora window before reading that copy. Admittedly not nice enough to actually go in, but now I'm actively repelled.😀

@Noodle421 Navygrey is definitely on my list to try based on previous chat about them. If anything they're too up my street, so I'm really not in need of anything they offer, especially having already succumbed to 2 Uniqlo CWK cashmere jumpers this year....in navy and grey. 😅

PretLea · 07/10/2023 08:32

@clowniform I don’t own anything from Uniqlo - what is the quality of the knitwear like? Wool and cashmere specifically. Some nice styles and good prices, so just wondering…

Dee1224 · 07/10/2023 08:53

Thanks for the info @clowniform

dudsville · 07/10/2023 09:36

😁@clowniform ! I'm also now at risk of wearing them everyday!

Not sure what I'm going to wear today, what's everyoe else going for?

ilovecherries · 07/10/2023 10:40

Toast on top only today. And yes, what can I say, I also have the dress in this fabric. In colour analysis terms I shouldn’t even own them, but I love them both. Both great ebay finds. Incidentally, I’m sure it’s getting hotter everyday, which can’t be normal for October.

I like that top and dress a lot, and I certainly enjoy things that are a stretch for me too, but i can't tell that this is the case from your pics!

I've opted for this. Can't remember who o motivated me get get these trousers but I love them.

AmethystMoonShine · 07/10/2023 11:38

Love that top@ilovecherries

I’ve gone for Levi 501s, black toast boat neck long sleeve top, my new bright blue sideline cardigan, finistere wool socks and fracap mules in black which are my favourite shoes at the moment.

No doubt I’ll be boiling by this afternoon!

Dee1224 · 07/10/2023 13:37

Love those tops @dudsville and @ilovecherries . I am wearing my circle black linen dress today, (despite the bleach mark😱), as it’s so warm.

Countmeout · 07/10/2023 14:07

Normal for early October in my experience @ilovecherries . Rained here last night. Shirts again today with the Nikki top.
If you’re stuck a tour to The Alhambra will have tickets.

OftenOrange · 07/10/2023 14:46

@Countmeout The ‘Nikki’ top is lovely with those shorts , it was one of my favourite things to wear when I was in France , packed away now!

OftenOrange · 07/10/2023 14:49

Thanks to those who commented on sizing of the Palm Prent dress , it’s en route now and I’m looking forward to seeing it IRL . I hope I’ll be able to wear it with cardigans and the green Fracap boots.
Who was it that posted a photo of themselves in it a couple of months ago ?
I fell for those colours and was so happy to find it.

applecatchers36 · 07/10/2023 14:57

Absolutely belting it down here. All last night and so far the whole of the day. Really hideous weather.

faustina · 07/10/2023 15:03

@PretLea - about the Uniqlo cashmere. I can't answer for the CWK range because I ordered two sizes and they were both huge and then I gave up. I really like the regular range cashmere though. I have four of them and they've lasted really well and wash beautifully in the machine (on wool cycle). I always buy large or XL because I like them to be slouchy.

My new favourite cashmere is by Cos - it's much chunkier and the cut/styling is really lovely - slightly shorter, and a bit boxy

I'm off Brora - still have a few of their jumpers but honestly don't reach for them first. They do nice alpaca jumpers if you can dodge some of the slightly odd colour combinations

OftenOrange · 07/10/2023 15:05

Trying to wear one of several items that’s too hot for Summer, far, far, too cold for Winter .
Am in the Forest Green Needlecord Shirt and Ecru Jeans ( Cos) for a day of photographing and EBaying

SissySpacekAteMyHamster · 07/10/2023 15:23

Damn you Toasties, I've gone and ordered a lovely lime boat neck jumper, which I know I will love and then I will shrink!
