Hi all, I work in a school, I need some winter boots/shoes that have good grip and that I can run in if need be ( I don’t want to be slipping and sliding on the grass) that are also super comfortable for all day wear.
Any advice is appreciated! Thank you!

Can’t offer any shoe/boot advice except I bought some sheepskin insoles online (you can get relatively cheap ones, or £££) and they are an absolute game changer. Convert any regular boots into super snuggly ones.

Notellinganyone · 26/09/2023 16:53

The Fly London ankle boots are super comfortable. Mine lasted for years as well.

I ended up walking around school in my socks when I bought these! Hideously uncomfortable.

Ooh I need some sheepskin insoles.

I have a few pairs of boots / shoes I wear to work as a teacher (I don't really have work/ non-work shoes).

DM Chelsea boots.
The Clarks boots linked to earlier - or at least the version they did 4 years ago.
These are my favourite shoes whether I am working or not.

Black leather trainers.
Flat knee high boots from Asda - bought about 6 or 7 years ago. These are the only 'work only' ones I have. This is the current version they do https://direct.asda.com/george/women/shoes/black-leather-riding-boots/GEM1030864,default,pd.html?cgid=D1M1G20C20

All of these are fine in the rain and would probably be OK for running after small people. I am peripatetic and they are fine for traipsing from school to school - including across a muddy dirt track car park.

Black Leather Riding Boots | Women | George at ASDA

• Zip up side fastening • Backstay tabs • Elasticated inserts • Knee length • Leather upper • Gripped outer sole. Shop from our latest range in Women.

Reiker boots for sure, some dodgy styles but some gems. Sturdy, supportive to the soles for long days and slip safe

QueenOfWeeds · 26/09/2023 20:37

@RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie do it! Absolute game changer.

I have a pair of little ankle wellies for the gloomy 5am morning commute and enjoyed arriving with dry feet but always had chilly toes. Never again!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 26/09/2023 21:23

I had a pair years ago from a garden centre in Wales but never seen them in a shop again, so had forgotten about their loveliness.

cansu · 26/09/2023 21:41

Teacher here. I bought moshulu fruit drop ankle boots. They have been comfy right from the first wear.

Susuwatariandkodama · 26/09/2023 21:58

I really love the suggestion of sheepskin insoles so I’ll definitely be adding those to my list! Thank you everyone you’ve all been super helpful! I’ve now got to decide what I want to go for as I’ve found too many that I like!

😆 Barefoot and prone to shoving people over for no reason.

For the first part, I was going to make the same comment.

For the second part, there was no shove. That was an innocent trip.

supermom23 · 26/09/2023 22:48

exactly

movinghouse23 · 26/09/2023 22:51

Honestly the attitude 🙄

OP, I also live in the fur lined DMs and they are very comfy and practical for running round after certain children. I've had them for nearly 4 years now and I count down the days until I can get them out. Good luck and I hope you find something suitable.

Another vote for Doc Martens, we went to Bruges last year I had Doc Martens on and my husband had Timberlands on, when it was particularly icy one day I was walking on the icy cobbled streets like normal, he was like Bambi on ice!

Yes it is like a super deterrent .. if someone did this to me, I would hesitate to post again ever. Atleast few people called that out ..

Storywriter · 27/09/2023 12:39

Hi,
What are the soles like on these? No photos on the Seasalt site.
Thanks

No, defending Zola budd from the spurious accusations that destroyed her and her career.

I just ignored it, I should have mentioned I work in a SEN school in my OP as it’s a completely different environment to mainstream which is why I need good grip!

Nope but if you're under 40 you may not get the reference. 🤗
