Kate was just up the road within view from my sons workplace in Pudsey yesterday looking at the mill. He didn't slip out to take a photo for me because he hadn't heard about it 😪

I feel the same. the big events etc are all very well and good, but I agree - I want day to day royals turning up at church fetes, school openings, widget manufacturers etc.

Same here. Letizia is well known for taking exercise seriously and enjoying it. I can only admire her dedication, it takes more than money to stick to a good exercise routine when you are in your 50s. I should know 😞

Kate is a beautiful woman but, most of the time, I'm bored with her wardrobe. She repeats the same style over and over with colour being the only difference.

She looks fabulous when she is informally dressed in jeans, casual tops and flats or running shoes. It's like she's decided to wear a "uniform"for official occasions, and doesn't want to take any style innovations.

I suspect uniform is what she's going for so that the project she's visiting gets the limelight.

I was just about to say the same thing just.

I’m not a huge fan of the suits and do think the more casual look suits her better.

That said, folk will get gussied up for her and she has to make a wee bit effort. It is respectful to do so.

Tricky time of year for wafting about in a frock too.

I’m sure they would be delighted to see her even if she turned up in an auld fisherman’s sock.

I've never heard the phrase 'gussied up' @ArcaneWireless but I think it's my new favourite! 😊

We've talked many times on these threads about rewears and I do think that a lot of Kate's more recent work outfits lend themselves to being worn again over the coming years (maybe with some tweaks to trouser length, cut, buttons etc). It still doesn't explain 'The Scandal of The Green Coats - Volume 6' but maybe she's planning to do a Princess Anne and be seen to have work outfits that last for a long time.

And yes to engagements involving widget factories, ship yards, bake sales and hospital wings. It's ok to have preferred projects and areas of interest but important (at least to me) that Kate and Williams do the other stuff.

Anne is so invested in the Scottish people with her visits to the least glamorous places. I remember her visiting a fish factory. When OH takes over the kitchen to gut and fillet his catch the kitchen door is firmly closed, back door and windows open. The smell still escapes. I remember when our quay had a processing plant, you needed to hold your nose

"Gussied up" is a common phrase in these parts of the US. It's a great expression.

I agree that Kate probably dresses conservatively to deflect attention from herself. She could definitely pull off more adventurous looks, but then the press coverage would be all about the clothes.

It's all about her clothes anyway. The press doesn't care about the patronages they support (and this goes for every monarchy with an interesting royal woman).

Kate may as well discharge the uniform and choose her own style. Her causes may even receive more attention.

I'm assuming that this is an old outfit - if I'm being honest I'm not sure that the fabric and style has aged as well as some of her others.

I like Anne in the purple. She was in Sheffield the other day. Bin depots, sewers (yes, she went down them), everyday projects, not glamorous, always sharp, always does her homework. I agree that Kate is trying to find a uniform like the late Queen did. Lovely to see her at the textile mill!

I love the POW's updo today though I'm afraid I'm not a fan of the curtain bangs which just look untidy to me.
