Tu clothes: pleasantly surprised

I have never bought from Tu but I bought a cord dress recently for the princely sum of £12, and was pleasantly surprised by the decent quality. Soft and fit well. Not flouncy. Better than more expensive stuff I have.

What else could I be buying? Knickers? Cotton tees?

They do seem to be able to do really good things with cord! I have a great skirt and also a pinny dress that has a crossover front which is really flattering.

FabFitFifties · 14/09/2023 16:28

I have their boyfriend sweatshirt in loads of colours, washes great, long, I love them.

SarahAndQuack · 14/09/2023 16:30

I absolutely love their knitwear. I have two heavy, hooded cardigans from them, which are 4/5 years old now, and they're still absolutely great - colours still bright, not bobbled, not gone shapeless. I wear them masses for work, so not lightly used.

MattDamon · 14/09/2023 16:37

Darn you, OP. Just bought some shoes I didn't need. 🤑

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 14/09/2023 16:39

I tend to go to the really big Sainsbos twice a year and restock my wardrobe

ActDottie · 14/09/2023 16:43

Love TU get most of my clothes from there

Lampzade · 14/09/2023 16:57

My favourite pair of jeans are from TU.I paid £14 about five years ago. Has lasted longer than all my designer jeans that

PoshPineapple · 14/09/2023 17:03

I rarely buy clothes from anywhere other than TU or M&S. And the TU ones last and last and last!

icebearforpresident · 14/09/2023 17:17

I get loads of stuff from Tu, I’m a size 22 and they have a good selection, especially online. I bought a fab summer dress this year, which I didn’t get to wear over the summer (I swear it arrived the day after the heatwave ended back in June) but wore a few times last week when it was warm and got loads of compliments.

AngelinaFibres · 14/09/2023 17:36

Their jeans are fab. I'm a 12. If I buy a Tu 12 they fit me perfectly. I'm 5'4" and the length is perfect. They wash really well too. Bought a dark blue denim pair for £16.00 and a white pair in the sale for £12.00. Fabulous. Really impressed.
My husband loves the half zip jumpers for men. Wash and last much better than the Joules ones which were far more expensive.

Alleycat1 · 14/09/2023 17:38

I buy jeans and trousers from TU as they fit me really well. Also knickers and tops. I have 2 pairs of cord jeans and a linen jacket all bought several years ago and are still like new.

AngelinaFibres · 14/09/2023 17:46

I agree with PP about their summer t shirts having saggy necks but I did buy a very nice blue and white striped long sleeved t shirt type top last week. Good weight. Not clingy and not see through. Ideal for cooler days . Proper ribbed cuffs. Really nice.

Willmafrockfit · 14/09/2023 17:49

they have nice colours i think and a blue light discount currently

Comedycook · 14/09/2023 17:50

Tu is definitely my favourite out of all supermarket clothing.

Willmafrockfit · 14/09/2023 17:50

i bought a t shirt but the neck was unflattering so i returned it.

SunnieShine · 14/09/2023 17:51

I love their pyjamas

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 14/09/2023 17:54

Every time I've bought something from there it's worn out really quickly.

Weatherwax13 · 14/09/2023 17:58

I had to buy practical knickers in a rush and as i was in Sainsbury anyway I bought those big, lace topped ones PP mentioned. So comfortable and have washed really well. Since then I always stock up on a few Tu things when I'm in the UK. I have a gorgeous pleated skirt I bought for about $12 in the sale and a pair of $24 jeans I've worn to death. Also a pair of linen trousers.
Agree that the T shirts can be hit and miss but I have two in my drawer that have been in rotation since last year and they're still in good nick.

Weatherwax13 · 14/09/2023 18:00

Sorry that should be pounds, not dollars I just realised! Don't have the GBP symbol on this phone

EachandEveryone · 14/09/2023 18:03

I’ve just ordered the cord dress and the knickers!!!

AngelinaFibres · 14/09/2023 18:05

Just looked at their website. The styling of the Tu clothes is awful. Good job the clothes themselves are actually nice.

CharlotteRumpling · 14/09/2023 18:11

Gosh, this got busy. I haven't washed the dress yet. Too warm to wear it now. May turn into a rag! Seems luck of the draw.

I've had a handful of things from Tu and been really pleased with them all. I haven't tried trousers or dresses as I'm petite so careful but i always look in their sale. I have fab pjs with pockets from asda! I've never got anything else from asda so maybe I was just lucky that day

sunnyseed · 14/09/2023 18:25

I like some of their clothes but the sizing on their leggings is ridiculous. I’m a small size 8 but the tu leggings are so small. The last few pairs I bought are size 12 and even those feel too tight around the waist. I think for them to feel comfortable I’d have to go up to a 14 or even 16

SarahAndQuack · 14/09/2023 18:28

That's strange - I find their leggings quite generous. I'm a size 14 and have lots of their 14s, but bought a 12 by mistake recently and discovered it was fine. I do think you are more aware of the band round the waist than with other supermarket brands, but IMO that's because the elastic is quite a bit thicker than Nutmeg or the Tesco version. Quite happy with that as I don't want them descending unexpectedly! Grin
