What are you wearing around the house . . .

That's not a fully dressed outfit like jeans/top etc and isn't leggings/gym wear.

I'm looking for inspiration to be dressed on the days I'm not really going anywhere but need to nip to the school, shop for milk etc.

Gym leggings etc aren't comfortable on me (tried many brands).

Does anyone have any inspiration or do I have a non problem and need to just get dressed properly each day.

Cheapest - brightly coloured joggers with lots of pockets from Primark. Don’t last long but good enough for opening the door to delivery people.

Alternatively - cotton flannel or cord trousers from Uniqlo. Often in the sales at the end of the A/W season. Soft and comfortable to wear - the cords are good enough to run to the PO or drop in on family / friends.

More - Community Clothing joggers; good enough to be seen in by visitors, or worn with a jacket and trainers / clogs / sandals into the nearest town.

All the above worn with the right level of t shirt / sweater from old and shabby to more presentable.

Highest home level - soft, unstructured dresses from American Vintage. Work Zoom meetings.

I Wfh full time and need to be comfy. I've been wearing a few pairs of wide legged loose linen (or similar) drawstring pants on rotation with tshirts tucked in. Feels a bit more 'properly dressed' than joggers or leggings and no waistband to dig in! I need to find some similar in a warmer fabric soon though and will throw a chunky cardi on top (plus the heated blanket!)

Laurdo · 12/09/2023 09:43

I WFH and I have a collection of jogging suits I wear around the house and on the school run.

Tesco have a few nice ones in just now. I've gotten a few from boohoo.

Those flannel trousers look good. What is the sizing like? Is the waistband comfortable?

rosydreams · 12/09/2023 09:47

i wear a simple t shirt dress or cami style dress ,if it colder black leggings and a cami top.I change if i need to go out ,i wear the most comfy for inside then jeggings/t shift for nipping out

Gruelle · 12/09/2023 10:08

This type, @Yoyoyo1?

https://www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/product/flannel-trousers-461762.html?dwvar_461762_color=COL53&dwvar_461762_size=SMA001

I find them very soft and comfortable. Though it’s wise to size up (even 2x) to account for shrinkage. I did make the mistake of buying the men’s’ version once because I preferred the colours, but they were horribly straight up and down with no allowance for hips.

The women’s are lovely, as long as you accept that you’re only getting what you paid for. If you want much weightier fabric or more generous proportions these wouldn’t be the right choice. But far better than a dressing gown when you have to leap out of bed for an unexpectedly early delivery. Or if your wfh mostly involves lying on the sofa, scrolling …

Leggytigberk · 12/09/2023 11:14

Skirts are my favourite. In the hotter weather, light weight fabric to finish around knee level. If alone shorter skirt, a crop top/ soft top like a weak sports bra, easy to add a blouse for a Zoom.
Most of my home only clothes are older well washed and soft, but decent. Slightly smarter, a button through dress in floral (last year style! ).

SaltyGod · 12/09/2023 11:18

Not really the answer that you’re looking for but honestly I just wear whatever I’d normally wear outdoors. Today in a shirt dress and sandals, otherwise jeans and blouse, maxi dress, or trousers and a jumper etc.

My most casual would be jersey trousers and an oversized linen shirt or cashmere jumper. That’s if I’m having an off colour day.

OneRingToRuleThemAll · 12/09/2023 11:20

Maxi dress from Next. I have one in every colour.

Passthecoffee · 12/09/2023 17:28

Thanks for all your suggestions. I've just ordered some cord trousers from Uniqlo with a few long sleeved tops from there as well.

The next maxi dress looks fab - I'll be keeping that in mind for next summer.

Thanks for all the inspiration Flowers

I'm currently wearing a linen dress

I've been wearing short dresses in the warmer weather

In the winter I wear maxi dresses around the house and when it's the darkest part of winter I sometimes get straight into my PJs as soon as I walk through the door because it's dark so in my head it's ok.

HappiDaze · 13/09/2023 13:22

I layer up with hoodies if I feel chilly

Leggytigberk · 13/09/2023 14:00

Today as I have a low key meeting, I have a button through floral print dress calf length. Brown loafers.
When it gets colder I have longer skirts and add full length slip.

cactidream · 13/09/2023 14:27

As soon as I get back home, I change into sweatpants. (Ii have 9 pairs and they are all the same)
They are so soft and comfortable- honestly, I cannot imagine wearing jeans at home.
I got a skinny, low waist fit, so they don't look too bad.
Top- depends on the weather, just a standard t-shirt or sweatshirt (again)
Quiet often, I stay with top from work (if it's not a shirt)

I would love to be bothered to dress better at home. 😕

TotalOverhaul · 13/09/2023 14:43

Today I'm wearing bamboo joggers and a chunky jumper from Uniqlo because the weather has turned. Before today I was wearing maxi and midi dresses or linen trousers with blouses from Zara. i often wear chambray or cord wide legs with a shirt or chunky knitwear when the weather is cooler. I like to look dressed rather than in that kind of loungewear that could almost be PJs.

Leggytigberk · 13/09/2023 14:49

I like to look and feel feminine, even around the house for myself. It is nice to have a friend who appreciates the look.

GettingStuffed · 13/09/2023 14:54

My nightdress and dressing gown, I can't be arsed getting dressed if I'm not going out.

YukoandHiro · 13/09/2023 14:55

I have a jumpsuit from Joules that I love for days like these. It looks pulled together if anyone comes to the door or on the school run but it feels like PJs on.

fleur89 · 13/09/2023 14:57

Pjs 😂

Batatahara · 13/09/2023 14:59

I have a jumpsuit from Thought and Lucy and Yak trousers that I usually wear on WFH days

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 13/09/2023 19:24

Jazzy wide-legged trousers and a vest. Stick a shirt or jacket over according to temperature.

Or a 'house dress' - a loose, long dress.

housethatbuiltme · 14/09/2023 14:43

Depends, my house wear includes:

3x spandex flared trousers
2x of thick leggings
1x of soft leggings
3x playsuits
1x of 'hareem' pants
1x fleece PJ bottoms.

For tops usually just bralet, vests or leave on my t-shirts.

Hi, what is the jumpsuit?
