What are you wearing around the house . . .

That's not a fully dressed outfit like jeans/top etc and isn't leggings/gym wear.

I'm looking for inspiration to be dressed on the days I'm not really going anywhere but need to nip to the school, shop for milk etc.

Gym leggings etc aren't comfortable on me (tried many brands).

Does anyone have any inspiration or do I have a non problem and need to just get dressed properly each day.

@Leggytigberk

thanks for replying! I tend to dress according to what I like and looking current and what’s in fashion rather than a focus on looking feminine. So Im happy to go with the current oversized clothes trend.

Chipsahoy · 19/09/2023 12:18

I do a mix. So today I’m in thin black tights, blue denim skirt and black jumper. I have been out shopping but won’t change until I shower tonight.
Yesterday I wore an oversized jumper and black leggings as it was very very rainy and I was home doing housework and decorating for autumn.

Its nice to see the ideas on this thread because I always either dress up or wear leggings.

It's still warm here in the US where I live. I have several loosely fitting T-shirt dresses I bought at the beginning of lockdown that have nice necklines appropriate for virtual meetings. I got them from Lands End. I am still wearing them on days I don't go into the office.

Dungarees! Easy. Comfy and suit everyone

Lovemusic82 · 19/09/2023 14:44

I am a dog walker so when I get home I’m often wet and cold (in the autumn and winter) so I sometimes wear joggers and a hoodie, I often wear dungarees and jumpsuits too as they are comfy. Just discovered Lucy & yak Alexas which are my new comfy house (and outside the house) trousers.

Thurlarder · 19/09/2023 15:49

Cotton leggings from boody (ie not gym style), long vest top and sweatshirt.

bluecloudme · 19/09/2023 16:45

Yoga leggings and oversize hoody if I’m just at my desk or jeans and a checked shirt with a smart gillet if I’m on a zoom.

Oh I wish this was true! Dungarees don't suit me :-(

Flutterbye22 · 19/09/2023 20:23

Leggings (Varley, Sweaty Betty, Lululemon) and a nice vest top or long sleeve top or roll neck currently.

somrtines nice pair of joggers with the above or a casual blouse

TR888 · 19/09/2023 20:45

I feel the cold badly as I sit at my computer for hours at a time. My lower legs get really cold, even at this time of the year. Some of the suggestions here wouldn't work for me at all as they aren't want enough.

Anybody else like me out there?

Mirabai · 19/09/2023 20:58

Wfh so I HAVE to be comfy and warm. I wear plaid brushed cotton shirt dresses by Jack Wills with tights and wedge pumps. Jumper dresses + sheepskin boots when it’s colder.

Britpopbaby · 19/09/2023 21:13

Joggers and old t shorts that are ok for popping to the shop in but that I wouldn’t wear going on to town etc!

GreenTuraco · 19/09/2023 21:20

Today have been wearing a striped jersey dress over leggings and chunky socks (I get cold feet). Often joggers or yoga pants with various jersey tops or sweat tops, or jersey dresses, comfy stuff that looks ok on teams for work and if someone knocks on the door.

mdinbc · 19/09/2023 21:35

I'm a jeans and t-shirt person. Straight leg jeans for comfort, and a selection of short and long sleeved t's. Insulated but not puffy vest (gillet) for overtop in fall and winter.

I also have some wide-leg lululemon similar to the m&S ones, and if I do yoga after work I tend to stay in leggings but will throw on a sweatshirt style dress overtop if I go out.

Has anyone seen a knit hoodie zip up? I have a nice one from Banana Republic, but it's on it's last legs, and I can't find similar.

Passthecoffee · 19/09/2023 22:21

@mdinbc something like this?

Great ideas here!

Leggytigberk · 20/09/2023 15:47

Meetings with professional types so visibly all fully matching and 'correct'.

The Times supplement fashion pages feature White Skirts. Yer What! it's Autumn!! They do carry it off. H&M £33.00. Mango £46, ankle length and a slit.

I bought some Harem Pants, charity hop in a student area. Much fuller than the ones up thread. I 'll see how they wash.

Bump

Cocteautriplet · 01/10/2023 15:55

I love Gudrun woven harem trousers they are extremely comfy but flattering and smart enough for trips out of the house. They are surprisingly warm but in the colder months I wear a thin pair of leggings underneath to make them extra cosy.

I pair mine with a stretchy spaghetti strap vest and a big Uniqlo 3D knit jumper ( I have them in black, oatmeal and brown) then slip on a pair of converse when I go out.

Those Gudrun ones look good, they fit well at the back.
The ones I bought are a bit sagging around my bum. I think I can alter the seam though.
The very lightweight ones I bought will be for bedtime.

dudsville · 01/10/2023 16:34

I feel like I've recently grown up in this area. I have a bunch of comfy but smart dresses that I can really lounge in, but also leave me feeling like the best dressed person at the corner shop. Also a few pairs of linen wool elasticated waist trousers with great tees. I'm never embarrassed to answer the door anymore!

Rina66 · 01/10/2023 16:41

Today:
Navy wide leg jersey pull on trousers with pockets - M & S
Navy & white stripe v neck drapey t shirt - Kit & Kaboodle
Navy maxi length jersey cardigan - Manamou
Popped out earlier, just put on R & B white slip on puffy trainers.

I wear lots of long cardigans/jackets in sweatshirt material, wool or jersey. I do like them to have a tightish sleeve though.

As it gets colder, I like a knitted loungewear set too, knitted leggings and a matching bum covering loose-ish jumper - either with a long knitted cardigan over, long fur gilet or faux sheepskin long gilet. I'll wear these with ankle boots if I have to pop out.
