What are you wearing around the house . . .

That's not a fully dressed outfit like jeans/top etc and isn't leggings/gym wear.

I'm looking for inspiration to be dressed on the days I'm not really going anywhere but need to nip to the school, shop for milk etc.

Gym leggings etc aren't comfortable on me (tried many brands).

Does anyone have any inspiration or do I have a non problem and need to just get dressed properly each day.

I feel like I've recently grown up in this area. I have a bunch of comfy but smart dresses that I can really lounge in, but also leave me feeling like the best dressed person at the corner shop. Also a few pairs of linen wool elasticated waist trousers with great tees. I'm never embarrassed to answer the door anymore!

What dresses have you got? TIA

dudsville · 01/10/2023 18:03

@Yoyoyo1 , mine are from toast (sales), they aren't everyone's cup of tea!

I wear dresses, I bought JoeBrown button through in the sales, I happen to like the floral prints.

I don't like leggings so I would wear some sort of cotton trousers normally like this: Monaco Trousers | Relaxed Leg Trousers | Washed Black | hush (hush-uk.com) and a t-shirt/ jumper.

When it gets colder, I move to joggers & jumper combo. Ideally I try to get a set of them and/or wear same colour ones. And slippers!

I love Gudrun woven harem trousers they are extremely comfy but flattering and smart enough for trips out of the house. They are surprisingly warm but in the colder months I wear a thin pair of leggings underneath to make them extra cosy.

I pair mine with a stretchy spaghetti strap vest and a big Uniqlo 3D knit jumper ( I have them in black, oatmeal and brown) then slip on a pair of converse when I go out.

Thank you for this link. I love this website. Will order.

Meetings with professional types so visibly all fully matching and 'correct'.

The Times supplement fashion pages feature White Skirts. Yer What! it's Autumn!! They do carry it off. H&M £33.00. Mango £46, ankle length and a slit.

I bought some Harem Pants, charity hop in a student area. Much fuller than the ones up thread. I 'll see how they wash.

Why do you object to white skirts for autumn?

Leggytigberk · 01/10/2023 23:33

@VitoCorleoneOfMNMafia In the pictures they all looked quite summery and as the weather was changing and evenings darker it didn't seem right. I like textured fabrics and Autumnal colours now.
What are your preferences?

Today a midi, collared, button through black linen dress, with masses of pintucking back and front to shape it in at the waist, with an M&S long sleeved thermal vest under it and a caramel coloured short, boxy cashmere cardigan from Brora.

I tend to dark colours most of the time. I wouldn't associate a colour with a season. I remember being a bridesmaid at a summer wedding and someone asking me what colour my dress was and saying "navy" and the person commented that that was very dark for a summer wedding. I didn't understand why she thought that.

@NatashaDancing Sounds like my choices. I like midi length for a dress. Pintucks sound like a touch of luxury, gives shape and structure, smart.
I have a long sleeve close fitting Tee, I chopped and hemmed the sleeves to below elbow length. Ideal for this not quite cold weather.
The cashmere cardigan sounds smart.
