What are you wearing around the house . . .

That's not a fully dressed outfit like jeans/top etc and isn't leggings/gym wear.

I'm looking for inspiration to be dressed on the days I'm not really going anywhere but need to nip to the school, shop for milk etc.

Gym leggings etc aren't comfortable on me (tried many brands).

Does anyone have any inspiration or do I have a non problem and need to just get dressed properly each day.

I just can’t do sportswear or pjs. Putting trousers and a T-shirt on doesn’t take much effort.

Could be interpreted as a simple observation that the effort gap between trackies and trousers is negligible or as a snark at those who the writer deems lazy.

I'm autistic. I get caught out by this kind of unintended subtext all the time.

radiantorange · 15/09/2023 14:02

@VitoCorleoneOfMNMafia honestly, it wasn’t a dig at anyone - for me it’s my preference not to wear pjs and sports gear, for me it’s no effort to wear trousers and a top. Wear what makes you feel good.

radiantorange · 15/09/2023 14:16

@VitoCorleoneOfMNMafia also my reply on p2 starting ‘Oh I get you, the trousers I wear are…’ was meant for you, I just didn’t tag you properly.

@housethatbuiltme I think that you may be reading judgement into @radiantorange's statement that wasn't intended .

Thanks for this thread by the way OP. Particularly I've found @Gruelle's post useful as a reminder about Uniqlo.

It happens to the best of us, believe me 🙈 😋 LOL! It is easily done and especially over a long period of time. Because it happens gradually instead of instantly which is what makes it almost impossible to tell as your body is slowly changing and because we see our own bodies everyday in the mirror, your eyes don't pick up on slight changes.

It's only when you go to put trousers or top on that fitted easily beforehand suddenly isn't such a good fit 😳 🤦🏻‍♂️ 😂

Yeah that makes perfect sense to me. Unfortunately a lot of people in this life judge others. It's not a reflection of you but in them. Who are they to judge? None of us are perfect at the end of the day, so who are they to judge? I understand dressing good makes you feel good. If I were to give you one piece of advise, it would to try and not worry what others think of you so much (although I know this is easier said then done).

It's all the mind too.. How can a few bits of clothes define you? Smile and be happy to everyone. That will help you.

Good luck 🤞🏼 🙏🏼 😊

I WFH full time so dress smart. Now the weather is turning blouses, wide legged pants I have some waterfall cardis for when I need them and a few cashmere jumpers for when it gets colder. Plus my UGG style boots.

Forgottenmypasswordagain · 19/09/2023 03:10

Usually cotton/jersey t-shirt style dresses or caftan's. If I go to the doctor or store, I change into jeans or khaki's and a shirt.

Paynefully · 19/09/2023 03:19

I don’t find gym leggings comfy either OP, like wearing Shapewear all day 😂

I do however.. love yoga pants. They’re so soft and comfortable and because they’re mostly either straight leg or flare they don’t feel restrictive.

I work from home the majority of the week; I usually wear joggers, a vest and a long cardigan. Or if I really fancy treating myself and I won’t be going out I have a few knitted jumpsuits.

ELVIEJAY · 19/09/2023 05:46

Jersey Jumpsuits! (joules, wolf&badger, white company). Dungarees, combat trousers. Matching joggers and tshirt.
In the winter jersey dresses and thermal tights.

StarlightLady · 19/09/2023 06:01

About the house, l tend to wear summer dresses with nothing underneath on summer days. Obviously with winter approaching that will change. Then it will be leggings and a tee or jumper. But as you are not keen on leggings, maybe loose fitting trousers.

Personally, I find jumpsuits too much of a faff when you want a wee!

lilmadmel · 19/09/2023 07:34

Lucy locketts lounge pants!

gogomoto · 19/09/2023 07:37

Jeans and a top in winter, or leggings and a dress, shorts and top or dress in summer. I don't have separate sets of clothes even for work.

CoreopsisEverywhere · 19/09/2023 07:42

This time of year it’s always jeans, t-shirt, cardigan or light jumper on top of cold.

I don’t like wearing leggings.

HaveANiceFuckingDay · 19/09/2023 08:23

A nightie . I put on trousers plain balck cord trousers if nipping to shops but still with a nightie

Tonightsthenight91 · 19/09/2023 08:37

I’ve decided I only get “dressed” in summer now.

I like being comfortable and find my winter style very far from that. It annoys me carrying coats and bags to and from the car and boots are always uncomfortable. So now my winter style is very much “round the house” sweatshirts and spandex flared trousers, leggings, ultra mini uggs, hoodies. And if I’m feeling fancy I throw a blazer over the hoodie 🙄 can’t be arsed 😂

TattiePants · 19/09/2023 08:37

It’s turned really cold here over the last few days so I’m wearing M&S wide leg jersey trousers and a Uniqlo hoodie which I plan to order a few more of.

allhellcantstopusnow · 19/09/2023 08:41

Dungarees. Wide leg elastic waist trousers. Occasionally joggers. Birkenstocks in various forms. Ugg minis when it's cold.

I wfh so am sat at a computer all day, I've no desire to be cold or uncomfortable.

LuckySantangelo35 · 19/09/2023 10:18

@Leggytigberk

what does looking and feeling “feminine” entail?

AnnieG5 · 19/09/2023 10:19

Omg I just clicked the link. Have seen people wearing these and assumed they were out in their PJs (and I liked them) they do look comfy my girls would love a pair - thanks looks like I started my Christmas shopping ❤️

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 19/09/2023 10:35

I have a couple of these tunics from Amazon, the model is tiny so it's not as baggy as it looks. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07597JBZV/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_image?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I also have lots of pairs of Lands' End Starfish trousers, I wear them to the gym and also when I'm just hanging around at home. I like the slim leg version best. https://www.landsend.co.uk/Search?q=starfish&search-button=&lang=en_GB&fromSearch=y

Leggytigberk · 19/09/2023 10:41

@LuckySantangelo35 I like dresses and skirts and keeping to an hourglass figure. That needs a little help at times.
Femmes are usually in a different part of the room to the piercings, boots and studs group.

And you?

Wexone · 19/09/2023 11:21

I am one of those freaks who wears jeans alot and find them comfortable, i work from home alot so need warm practical but look smart clothes. Also need have my walking dogs clothes. During summer i wore combination of shorts and tshirts or dresses with birckenstocks. I am a big believer of what you wear affects your mood, i wear what i love to make me feel good and also wear my expensive clothes around the house. Dont wear pyjamas dressing gown around the house. I follow a blogger who has converted me, she says you shouldn't have a wardrobe full of handiness, it should be a wardrobe full of clothes to make you feel fabulous and then you will wear it more. I am not a leggings person so i dont have many in my wardrobe, love my jeans so have loads of different styles in my wardrobe

Happyythesea · 19/09/2023 11:24

Last year I got some ‘walking trousers’ from Tu at Sainsbury’s. They are amazing.
black with pockets, stretchy waist band. Smart enough to leave the house but comfy enough to sit and wfh. They wash well and don’t lose shape like joggers.
they were a thick cotton / stretchy material.
also loving cargo style pants at the moment but finding they need ironed

Notcontent · 19/09/2023 11:41

If I am at home I find it hard to relax unless I am wearing jogger type bottoms. But I usually wear them with nice t-shirts or jumpers for a more polished look.
