@Squishmymallow I was looking at the JL one too. I might play Advent Chicken and see if it gets reduced, as I don't need anything. I had the Liberty one last year, but as another poster has said, you sometimes end up with quite a few random serums and retinol stuff, that then can't be fitted into a sensible routine, and it makes Spongey's head nearly explode with the thinking! I've just randomly used an Origins mushroom thing that I have no idea how to fit in, used it before my day SPF, think it came in a Love Island box!

QueefofSheena · 23/09/2023 09:15

The urge to rip into my AC Liberty is strong today. I'm home after having surgery so I feel like treating myself. I'd quite like the Mac one too but I can't get codes to work. DS tried Unidays and DH has a Blue Light card that didn't work either. Frustrating! I need to decide soon as I know they sell out

Branster · 23/09/2023 09:17

It's the green Tatcha cream in LiB AC (I got it wrong yesterday)

I missed the preorder for Beauty Drop members for Liberty - does anyone know when it's due to go on general sale?

Branster · 23/09/2023 10:08

Thank you @TracyBeakerSoYeah I shall inspect!

FredaFox · 23/09/2023 12:18

Well I've just bought the Elemis, this year I've been really undecided like many of you
I've a full years BD but wasn't 100% on liberty though now might go for it when on general release, I usually get Selfridges and have vouchers to cover half of it, paid full price the past 2 years and knowing it reduces is putting me off getting it
I will still wait for bargains

Dee1224 · 23/09/2023 12:25

Liking the look of the French Ac. Thanks for the link @Housewife2010

I watched the HN unboxing last night. Lots of lovely things, but also lots I wouldn’t touch with a barge pole, (sleep drops - yuk!!!) so temptation removed - phew!

Thanks to whoever mentioned the unboxing was on YT. I found it super helpful.

hellololabells2019 · 23/09/2023 19:14

Has anyone purchased the MAC calendar?

shumbuffle · 23/09/2023 20:38

I've just ordered Selfridges after being spooked by the out of stock message yesterday.

It was the only one that sparked an interest during the reveals and had things I wanted to try. Watched the unboxing and was pleased with the sizes. I also think I'll actually reuse the box whereas the previous boxes I've kept just collect dust.

Someone will take the AB off my hands!

Annie1290 · 23/09/2023 22:15

Any recommendations of unboxing to watch for someone who doesn't do YouTube generally? Basic and quick preferred. Been interested in glossybox/look fantastic/next etc

Squishmymallow · 24/09/2023 08:29

CB is available now for those who signed up to the wait list. I’m still so undecided!! Haven’t even ordered boots premium yet after thinking I’d decided on that a couple of days ago…🙈 Worried I’ll be advent-less at this rate!

Squishmymallow · 24/09/2023 08:36

Also 20% off at ASOS today with code HAUL which makes their calendar £72 for anyone interested in that one!

I was tempted and watched an unboxing. I've decided against it as there are a few too many bits I won't use but it's a good selection overall. If it had been around £140 I'd have probably gone for it

That's November sorted! I just need my janvent now

Doubleraspberry · 24/09/2023 12:12

Oh, that French Pharmacy calendar is the first one to really call to me! I was feeling very proud of myself. Hmm.

MidnightMeltdown · 24/09/2023 13:06

My Selfridges calendar is arriving today.

I notice that it's back in stock if anybody needs that one

WeAreBorg · 24/09/2023 13:46

Guys
GUYS!

I JUST ORDERED THE VOGUE AC

I tried to think how I would feel if my worst enemy said she was getting it and then I tried to buy it and it was sold out forever. In my imagination I was devastated.
If it gets reduced in price I do not want to hear about it 😂

MidnightMeltdown · 24/09/2023 14:26

Congrats @WeAreBorg - very exciting! I like your logic 😂

I'm curious to see how quickly that one sells out. It says limited stock and I imagine that they don't have thousands like Space NK and Cult Beauty

Branster · 24/09/2023 14:27

Doubleraspberry · 24/09/2023 12:12

I feel exactly the same! I'd use everything from that one. I keep looking and thinking and looking again...

I rather fancy the Nuxe AC but wouldn't be as useful as the French one.
I can't find a Caudalie specific AC - I think I'd like it if it existed.
And I am truly relieved there is no Biologique Recherche AC because I'd buy it even though it would cost 100s of £.

Isabelle70 · 24/09/2023 15:41

@WeAreBorg if it does get reduced, can you order a new one and return the original one?

Taytocrisps · 24/09/2023 15:45

I’m not judging just gobsmacked that people can afford to spend £700 plus on three calendars is it really good value for money?

I've only ever bought one beauty advent calendar and it was one of the cheaper ones (l'Occitane). I bought it during the first Covid winter because life was pretty joyless at the time and I figured I was making a saving on the things I'd normally do in the run up to Christmas - Christmas concert, night out with friends, work lunch etc. I really enjoyed the experience and if I had the disposable income, I would definitely buy myself one this year. There was something nice about a little treat every day (maybe I'm just a big kid at heart) and I didn't check out the contents in advance, so I didn't know what to expect. I've been lurking and reading this year but I can't afford to buy one. But I'm enjoying the chat and the excitement.

I guess everyone is different. Some of the posters on these threads may be single and the money they're spending may be the equivalent (or even less) than a woman who will be buying presents for a husband/partner and three or four kids along with Santa experiences and trips to the panto/ice skating etc.

Some of the posters (or their husbands/partners) are probably very high earners and so they can afford to spend £700 on three calendars. If they already buy luxury face creams or foundations, then they could easily spend £50 - £100 a month on cosmetics which adds up to £600 - £1,200 over a year. And I think the posters look out for offers or reductions, so they're not paying full price if possible.

I love this! what a great way to decide.

I OTOH and thinking about the CB calendar going on sale... and am fine with it selling out and me not getting one. So that's OK.
