@dudsville If there happens to be a sale and if I have a weak moment, the tiered space check dress is something I might order, after looking it at it for so long (and having seen someone looking fab in it at Tate Britain). What’s the sizing like please? Usually a dress size 12 in old money Toast - now, who knows. Thanks

dudsville · 13/09/2023 11:13

It's such a firm favourite , I'm constatly pleased withthe purchase @Saurus72 ! I have a medium. I'm a c cup with average, leaning towards smaller shoulders and frame. and the top bodice panel is loose on me and could take a bigger cup, but even withthe looseness I don't have the dreaded side boob display - whih I partly put down to the weight of the fabric. I'm a high street 14 and often buy toast dresses in 12's or old mediums (which this is), though I have one old 14 that has a more fitted bodice shape (the red checked one I like to wear at christmas that I posted above) and my new money fir check is an 8, which is just ridiculous given that it's also more streamlined.

Countmeout · 13/09/2023 11:15

Which dress is the fir check you’re talking about @dudsville . I have the fir dress but I think it’s cotton , admittedly very sturdy cotton.
good idea about using the offcuts for sewing.

dudsville · 13/09/2023 11:40

Ah, i got the name wrong! It's frith! Tie neck frith check. So which one is the fir @Countmeout ?

Countmeout · 13/09/2023 12:32

I m not familiar with that Frith one @dudsville .

This is the Fir, I got it in a sale where I get most of the dresses, it was well reduced. It’s quite heavy, hangs beautifully. A bit heavy for really hot weather. It looks nice with a denim jacket or a navy cardigan. I am bigger in the boobs than the model. Inevitably needs a pin .

Saurus72 · 13/09/2023 12:33

Thanks @dudsville - though looking at my credit card bill for this month I really shouldn’t…

OftenOrange · 13/09/2023 12:55

Love the Fir and the Frith dresses, @dudsville that Frith is one I’ve been tempted but is sounds like the fabric is not to your liking ?
@dudsville I haven’t bought much from Studio Nicholson, I teturned some jeans which seemed too exaggerated for me but they were amazing.
Also returned an overcoat from the sale, it was oversized plus plus , not great.
I love my dark brown Kick boots , they gave me much joy last year and will go strong a while longer. Not much more spendsy than Toast , I’m not into Toast footwear much.

dudsville · 13/09/2023 13:40

Ah yes, that's a cute dress @Countmeout, mine are also all sale, I do dabble outside of sales but inevitably return it all.

@OftenOrange , the frith is 47% viscose. Lots of folks love viscose, I do not! But it is (otherwise) a really nice dress.

ScottishMouse · 13/09/2023 16:02

I havenMt @Snowyowl78 I have looked at it quite a few times, but I would prefer it without the embroidery, so have never gone so far as to try it. I’d be interested to hear how you find it though.

ScottishMouse · 13/09/2023 16:06

Has anyone tried this who also has the previous incarnation from last year that came in a few colours with a thin stripe?
I’m interested in knowing what the sizing is like in “new sizing”. I have the earlier one in an 8, but I am a 12, it is very roomy.

Anyone got this or tried on? I have it en route mainly for pre sale trying on. No doubt it won’t come into the sale!

https://www.toa.st/collections/womens-dresses/products/embroidered-textured-cotton-dress-anthracite

@Saurus72 has it, her pics made me try it on. (Was not good for my self esteem but good for my bank balance!)

@OftenOrange thank you! I wonder if my struggles with season typing is because I have a neutral skintone? Have both blue and green veins, suit both gold and silver jewellery. I tend to know what will/won't please me, but they don't seem to fit into any seasonal palette so maybe it's just that I like them and can't 'see' that they don't actually suit me🤔

General q. which I'm sure has been asked before, has anyone ordered directly from Bleu de Chauffe post-Brexit? Do they take care of VAT or will the parcel get stopped at customs? (I don't mind paying duty but really irrationally resent processing fees!)

Saurus72 · 13/09/2023 16:43

Ah yes, @clowniform is right I do have that dress @Snowyowl78 . Just let me know what intel I can help you with (#enabler 😊).

Saurus72 · 13/09/2023 16:47

Here it is - I’m curvy size 14 and it’s a medium.

Snowyowl78 · 13/09/2023 16:57

Ooh lovely @Saurus72 ive got it on the way expecting it Friday, was just wondering about sizing. I actually ordered the small based on reviews as some said it was big but now I’m wondering if that will be too small as I am also a 14. It really reminds me of the wrap jumpsuit which I love in terms of sleeves, buttons, and colour!

Saurus72 · 13/09/2023 17:06

I really like it, the fabric is quite robust which I love because it feels casual. Definitely a dress for most of the year for me, except for boiling hot days. I needed the medium for my bust, otherwise it’s v generously sized.

Snowyowl78 · 13/09/2023 17:09

thanks @Saurus72 naybe it’ll be ok then. I like the idea of casual I am always on the hunt for a casual dress.
I would very much like it in the sale though and for toast to refund the difference. I have low hopes for sales offerings this time around though

ilovecherries · 13/09/2023 17:45

So, do you think we are on for tomorrow? Trying not to be too excited after last week’s letdown!

OP posts:
PretLea · 13/09/2023 17:51

That’s lovely on you @Saurus72.

So is the consensus that the sale will be tomorrow?

Also, I wanted to ask about another big AW drop - will there be one? I just ask because I really do need some warm jumpers and a winter coat, but will Toast be releasing some more options closer to winter?

Laska2Meryls · 13/09/2023 17:52

This is the new tie neck silk linen shirt .. Horribly expensive!! 😮. I saw it in Brighton Toast last week but didn't try it on as it was just far too hot to be trying thing on..
But I love it! Its oversized and annoyingly the shoulders are narrow cut according to the one review on the site and they are correct ( I have wide shoulders) and so I have had to size up to the 18 !!😮😮. I really don't think that I could go any less if I want to wear it buttoned up ( which I will sometimes)..
Anyway after dithering about cost and whether it will eventually be in the winter sale ( its new stock) I have decided to keep it.. The silk linen fabric is so fine and soft and drapes so well, my photo doesn't do it justice. . I am going to treat it as my ' one statement piece from this early AW collection ' Famous Last Words, no doubt!!🤣 .. and of course ignoring the pea wool tencel top , that I already bought from this drop!!.

Laska2Meryls · 13/09/2023 17:55

That dress is lovely on you @Saurus72 . I saw it earlier at Kilver Court and loved it.
If there is a sale tomorrow, I will have to sit on hands after that shirt purchase ( except if the Hiko pj bottoms are in , I will reorder as only received the smaller ones today )

Laska2Meryls · 13/09/2023 17:58

Re: that shirt. Definitely size up unless you are narrow in shoulder..I have the linen tunic shirts in and would say I was a high st 14, (sometimes 16 if a fitted top) because of bust ..

OftenOrange · 13/09/2023 18:07

@Saurus72 Love that dress on you , and I see the parallel with the tie waist jumpsuit which is one of my wardrobe favourites.
@Pretlea I asked about the next drop when I was in Mayfair the other day and was told lots of knitwear but they weren’t sure about more coats.
@Laska2Meryls Worth every penny, the shirt looks wonderful on you .

ilovecherries · 13/09/2023 18:12

Shirt is fabulous, Laska, as is the dress saurus. Looking great, both of you.

OftenOrange · 13/09/2023 18:14

@ScottishMouse Yes I tried that green and shirt and fell in love. I forgot to mention that because I was obsessing over the coat.
Tent *Green seems inadequate , it’s the most glowing deep olive
I took a S which is my usual/ previous Toast size, definitely on my to consider list ( and it looks amazing with the £465 skirt 😂
