Oooh, i like that @PretLea ! I'm going to try this.

Alpacasoft · 15/09/2023 19:42

Late to the sale party 🥳
Ordered Maeve dress in a 12, Maya in a 10 and A line skirt 12 in shell.
I'm in 2 minds about the Maeve dress and it's probably going to be an order I either love it all or it all goes back.
Suddenly realised Maya is different to the Navy/ chestnut dress I had the bra debacle with ( at least I hope it is) I've also lost a stone since then so fingers crossed.
Haven't ordered since the last sale but I have my eye on the denim dress, the crinkle check shirt dress, the walnut dress and the blue Bryn.
I think I will try them on in a shop as I'm only buying one full price and will wait out for the next sale for the others.
Still working on a one in one out basis

Firesideknitting · 15/09/2023 22:43

@dudsville, the top is great, really good for todays diy jobs, if it had been chillier I’d of popped a long sleeve underneath, @neveradullmoment99, I’m all for the comfort, animals and never ending jobs to get done, means comfort is key. @ScottishMouse … so very kind of you to say..

Snowyowl78 · 16/09/2023 06:18

I got the embroidered navy dress yesterday and it’s so lovely! Oh dear was just meant to be for trying on

dudsville · 16/09/2023 07:32

🥳 @Alpacasoft !

Oh dear indeed @Snowyowl78 ! Will you keep it?

ScottishMouse · 16/09/2023 07:37

Uh oh @Snowyowl78. And it didn’t end up in the sale.

ScottishMouse · 16/09/2023 07:41

I am looking out at pouring rain here and thinking I will be packing the Mill Pond culottes back up to return with everything else. At this point in the year I’m unlikely to get more than a handful of wears out of them until late spring, and I know from previous experience that I shouldn’t buy for a season I am not in as I often end up changing my mind (or having put on weight ☹️) when it finally comes around to wearing.
Plus I might need to save for the wool cotton herringbone trousers which my sister bought and are the most fabulous trousers I have ever seen on her!

Countmeout · 16/09/2023 07:56

Oh dear @Snowyowl78 , never mind. Are you going to keep it and enjoy it? Who knows when it will end up in sale and even if your size would still be there?

OftenOrange · 16/09/2023 08:34

@Firesideknitting You look so cool in your Toast , love the Autumnal colours.
@ScottishMouse I know about regrets when buying a season or so ahead, but just a shout out for the culottes which looked really good on you.
I have the version from 2 yrs ago , very yellow too , and have worn them a lot .in Spring and Summer . Still very much in use.
@Snowyowl78 Happy day when something really looks and feels great, it’s such a great piece , classic and edgy .
And thank you for the informé the frilly brown top,!

Snowyowl78 · 16/09/2023 08:38

I’m not sure the only thing is that the belt is rather flimsy! I’d have liked a thicker textured belt. It’s lovely tho, incredibly flattering, nice shape and I also really like the side splits, I don’t think I’ll need to take this one up at all.

ScottishMouse · 16/09/2023 08:51

Argh @OftenOrange I am really swithering. They won’t fit on the waist if I put on any more weight though, and that has only been going up and up the last while.

OftenOrange · 16/09/2023 09:09

@ScottishMouse Well I’m sure a lot of these things will reappear in the next Sale , at least I’m hoping …

Despite the fact the offerings were meagre I’ve taken @dudsville doctrine to heart , and I’m ‘trying’ a couple more things . The check ruffle shirt has attracted me for ages, time to try !
Alas , barrel leg dungarees taken off my basket .
Returns are painless as I live near 2 shops , I tend to distribute returns between them .

Saurus72 · 16/09/2023 09:45

@Snowyowl78 Such good news about the dress, she’s a beauty! I agree, very flattering. Do you have a leather belt you could try with it maybe?

dudsville · 16/09/2023 09:51

Were the dungarees sold out @OftenOrange ? That's a shame as they are very special. But they, like the culottes @ScottishMouse will probably be in another sale or two. Scottish, if I'm ever as in two minds as you are then I do return. There are very few returns I really regret, unlike orders I didn't place - I do regret some of those. Hence the try it and see policy @OftenOrange !

I have to go a gym and join up today. I'm not looking forward to this and have been planning it for about 5 weeks. I looked into gym clothes and hated it all. I've decided that my stack check trousers, japanese trousers, and my one remaining pair of cos trousers are all suitable. And I have some tees. My sticking point is what coat to wear in winter. I will be walking home, probably still warm from exercise, and the walk is I think less than 10 minutes. So I don't think I need anything super warm. Ideally I'd have a jacket that's 100%cotton and could go in the wash, as I'll be sweaty I don't want to use any of my toast things. I guess it's a hoodie I'm after but I'm not a hoodie person. Any suggestions?

What about just a simple fleece jacket - something like this (it isn't cotton but imagine easy bung to bung into machine). Or are you looking for something more quirky?

dudsville · 16/09/2023 10:39

Ooh, that looks cosy, thanks @stoic! And no, I'm not looking to make any statement with my gym clothes, just don't particularly want to buy actual gym clothes, and ideally I wouldn't purchase anything extra at all, but this jacket is the one thing I think I need to buy. I'm off to look at it in more detail.

clowniform · 16/09/2023 10:41

Headpats please, I'm sitting at home waiting for my sale parcel delivery rather than venturing into town to try full-priced temptations and probably being FOMO'd into buying some Uniqlo C and limited edition buns
(It's only tees in a squillion sizes and cuts but I've never tried Toast tees before and know they're so well liked here.)
@ScottishMouse if in doubt, sit it out! Do you know if that Kate Sheridan Scout bag is less capacious than the Mini Pop or Voyage? Those are probably my limit for smallest usable size.
@dudsville I was so tempted by the ikat and coral embroidered items. Wishing you well on the gym going though no advice. I like a lot of Sweaty Betty stuff but have no use for any of it and having refused athleisure throughout the pandemic it feels silly to succumb now 😅

dudsville · 16/09/2023 10:57

😇you're being a brave soldier @clowniform ! I'm still thinking about the embroidered outfit even though it's probably sold out, it's just so pretty.

I'll take a look at sweaty betty. I think I do want cotton because of the sweat. Don't manmade fibers hold the sweat smell?

dudsville · 16/09/2023 11:10

I think I've been shortsighted, a plain sweatshirt will be fine.

dudsville · 16/09/2023 11:27

oh I can't decide, I don't want any of this stuff. I think I'll wait until I absolutely have to have it.

On a positive note all my toast sale things arrive Monday!

TerrierOrTerror · 16/09/2023 11:30

No sales purchases from me - genuinely not loving anything which has been reduced enough to order. I have also just got back from a splurge-y holiday which helped rein me in. Packed plenty of Toast though!

ScottishMouse · 16/09/2023 11:37

@clowniform the scout bag definitely holds less than the mini pop. I have one of those. Because the scout bag is pretty flat, anything that isn’t slim (phone, cards) won’t fit very well.
@dudsville i like Finisterre for well made functionally excellent jackets. I have this one which I would wear to leave the gym in (if I ever went!), but I have also worn with Toast trousers and dresses, so it’s pretty versatile. Packs up small too. Washed well and dried quickly. Not the cheapest, but I think the quality is worth it.

Got my first sale parcel

this was a no, made me look like I was in a cult or a celebrant. Nice colour though

the breen bag doesn’t particularly excite me so will return. Wish they had the blue one.

this is rather lovely will probably keep but I wish it was a bit cheaper. Very light can wear as a jacket or done up as a shirt. Feel a tiny bit cultural appropriation-ish, hopefully I’m being paranoid

clowniform · 16/09/2023 13:09

Postie has been and gone with no Toast, tracking says it's (gone back to??) Swansea😱
Argh trying hard to resist Ikat sale stuff, I really do want to wait for the culottes and wide sleeved jacket instead but living vicariously through you @dudsville and @Snowyowl78
Duds how about a bomber jacket? They look nice styled all kinds of ways IMO and seem easier to get on/off than a pull-on sweatshirt. Wool would be better for sweat than cotton, too, if you can hang it up to air between wearings.

@ScottishMouse thank you for the bag info! My keys are quite bulky and I am old-fashioned enough to carry cash so will avoid.

dudsville · 16/09/2023 13:24

Oh no @clowniform! And thanks for the suggestion, love a bomber jacket but I'm just loathing buying something right now, and thanks for the wool over cotton heads up. I like the finnistere one you linked @ScottishMouse , but it's hate to spend moment on something to be sweaty in. I've since gone through my small collection of stuff i keep in case of an apocalypse and there's a jacket in there i can wear to the gym.

@Snowyowl78 , loving the new description of cult/celebrant! I keep giggling! Very exciting about the ikat jacket!
