How much would you pay for a lipstick?

pussinboots61 · 04/09/2023 21:21

My favorite lipstick has gone up from to £26.00. I love it and cheaper ones don't compare but I feel it's now going up too much, even though it does last ages and I ony use that one. I would feel extravagant buying it now or am I being silly? I know you get what you pay for but I have premium brand foundation too.

If it was basically a miracle in a tube in terms of exactly suiting me then I would economise on something else to afford it. (but I would hate paying ££ for it).

OwlAndPussycats · 05/09/2023 22:51

Oh god it's you. The one with the total obsession about no7 and Clinique and how much things cost.

you know you have an issue with this - have you sought help yet? And I know some other posters will think my response is bizarre or harsh , given that the question is so innocuous on the surface, but this poster has been posting this for years and years and years.

I remember you saying you were obsessed with foundations and the cost of them to the point where you were not functioning well in life.

Gently - please get help

Barbiesback · 04/09/2023 22:18

@pussinboots61 it wasn't for you. It was @jallopeno saying she's willing to pay £30 for a lipstick. Yet she's on another active thread moaning about people going on a holiday!

And? I don't care if people go on holiday. It's a luxury. Nothing wrong with a luxury

OrangeBlossom28 · 05/09/2023 22:58

@OwlAndPussycats its not only that it's the shade matches or not, too. Do you remember the obsessing over that as well.
It's not healthy at all.

Barbiesback · 05/09/2023 23:11

@jallopeno so is a lipstick. The point was you should mind your own business. It's rather rich when you are willing to spend £30 on a lipstick. You wasn't saying that on the other thread! Hypocrisy

OwlAndPussycats · 05/09/2023 23:14

@OrangeBlossom28 I do remember. I also remember threads in which the op acknowledged it was a problem for her and she almost got herself banned from Boots

I'm not sure what the underlying issue is with it all though but definitely needs unpicking

BusterGonad · 06/09/2023 04:56

I would pay up to £30 unless it was extra special and really beautiful.

MidnightMeltdown · 06/09/2023 05:23

My favourite lipstick is a Chantecaille one which costs £45 😱 - and it's always out of stock!!

By comparison, £26 seems like a bargain for a nice lipstick!

MidnightMeltdown · 06/09/2023 05:31

I don't buy eyeshadows or pencils though, so I'm happy to spend on a nice lipstick

If people want to spend their money on a holiday then that's absolutely fine by me! I didn't say a lipstick wasn't a luxury? What's wrong with luxury! If you can afford it go ahead!

OK what is all this? I didn't mention a Clinique lipstick, I said an expensive lipstick. Do you people spend your time going through years of threads and nitpicking about posts that people have the perfect right to discuss on an open beauty forum?

Maybe you are the ones with the problem.

@pussinboots61 it's just that you've posted this question hundreds of times before. Quite literally. Or about Clinique. Or Liz Earle. And especially no7.

I mean you're free to do so. But it's extremely strange

AvocadotoastORahouse · 06/09/2023 23:27

ShadyPaws · 05/09/2023 10:30

Gently you've been asking the same question since 2014
Buy it or don't but maybe look at why you obsess over Clinique vs no 7

Oh my Lord, can't believe OP has this much angst over lipstick!

PegasusReturns · 06/09/2023 23:36

About £50 on a single lipstick, but I reckon I spend that every month on my quest for the perfect one!

cardiganboo · 06/09/2023 23:45

I've recently started swapping my lipsticks out to Rouge Dior. £37 but absolutely worth every penny. I've got 3 of the velvet ones. In love with them. I feel like they will last forever. I like a more dark matte vintage looking lip with really minimal eye make up and strong brows. Still use my £3.99 rimmel cappuccino liner though!

Strange? I think its strange going through years of threads and nitpicking. This is a beauty forum so people talk about beauty, people might ask the same questions about a lipstick because they might have different questons about a lipstick or may still have the same query at another time. If you went onto a football forum for example would you criticise people talking about football?

Here we go again! If you don't like posts about lipstick then maybe not visiting a beauty forum where lipstick might be discussed might be a good idea.

I love posts about lipstick, I enjoy this S&B forum. I just find your posting history as mentioned rather odd. That's all.

Hairly · 07/09/2023 07:22

I spent 50 on one!!!

DrCoconut · 07/09/2023 09:39

I get mine at Poundland. The colour is really nice and it lasts ages.

I think you need to give the op a break now, you've made your point. Leave her be.

How about you just say nothing at all and keep your opinion to yourself. It is not achieving anything and is coming across as sarcastic when this is supposed to be a helpful discussion forum, not a slanging match.

I think people just find it very puzzling that the literal same question has been asked constantly for a decade.

But yes, I agree it's up to OP if it makes her feel better to keep asking it

It's a public forum and I'll say what I want, thanks. Obviously you're hyper sensitive to any kind of view that doesn't match your own. Maybe you should look into why that is.
