Louis Vuitton Neverfull

Flutterbye22 · 01/09/2023 20:44

I am considering treating myself to one of these Louis Vuitton bags.

  1. https://uk.louisvuitton.com/eng-gb/products/neverfull-mm-damier-ebene-008116/N41358

or

  1. https://uk.louisvuitton.com/eng-gb/products/neverfull-mm-monogram-007653/M40995

which do you prefer?

also I’m wondering whether to buy directly from store brand new or look at the second hand market… just concerned about authenticity.

I love mine, it's the second one.
It's old now and I never got a pouch. Is there hat a new edition ?
It can be a pickpocketter's
dream as there is no zip.

I’m sure you can buy close up bags that go inside

I also think it’s a great airport bag, so that was also part of my thinking!! ✈️

I got the first one as a gift from an ex a few years ago. Cannot believe the price jumps! It’s nice but I’m not into obvious logos so don’t use it as much as I should. It’s a good useful bag though.

I prefer the second one.

I’d almost always go to a store because as others say there’s too many fakes around.

As a PP says I’ve got the similar black one which I use way more.

I’m not usually into designer stuff. I’m a jeans and t shirt person who is always in sports gear.

However, this bag is just pure pleasure. Treat yourself to a new one. It’s the only designer thing I’ve had which I didn’t later think was a waste of money. Use it, and let your life be the one that darkens the leather, and forms the slight creases in it, rather than someone else’s. You’ll keep it forever if you take care of it.

Ha! That was me after years ago when my aunt got me started on a mulberry obsession (when they started to get trendy) and I got gifted 2 vintage designer ones from my nana. Most of my bags were gifts or bought when they were cheaper or abroad in NY when the exchange rate was bonkers!

I’m totally not into logos and metalware and if they are they’re small. I just sold a few about a month ago which I simply don’t use anymore. I don’t even plan to buy another bag!

I agree with what you say about the second one though. If you do have an expensive bag it should be a dream to use.

Floofydawg · 02/09/2023 11:33

I have this one in DE as I didn't like the idea of the Neverful not closing. Prefer it as they're not as common.

I've got the first one and literally never used it 🙄🙄

Very expensive mistake

please let me know if you ever want to rehome it!

SleeplessinSeattle53 · 02/09/2023 13:07

@Thekormachameleon there are FB sites to sell LV, they usually fetch a good price as lots of LV bags are always out of stock.

tryingsomethingnew · 02/09/2023 13:15

I have the 2nd one too but from about 10 years ago. Funnily enough I dug it out about a year ago because we moved house. It's looking worn and has some white marks on it. Sorry to derail the thread, but if anyone can answer, anyone know of a place or how to give it a good clean and make it look new (much better) again?

cleanthetable · 02/09/2023 13:51

Got one years ago - for much less. Still looks perfect on the outside. The inside is a bit battered.

Great bag - loads of room. Only issue I have is that the straps are thin and if you fill the bag up so it is heavy it isn't the most comfortable. But I wouldn't let that put you off

Copperoliverbear · 02/09/2023 23:52

Number 2 100%

Flutterbye22 · 03/09/2023 12:41

I’m so sad at how much the price has increased…

I have the 2nd one. It’s a really practical everyday bag, I fill it full of crap and it gets chucked around a lot, but it’s worn really well. Think I’ve had it 5 yrs ish? Very useful for plane journeys, tons of room, passport & cash etc in the pouch, you can cram it under your seat or in the overhead locker and it comes out looking fine! No doubt there are tons of fakes, but who cares? You will know it’s real because you bought it!

I think I’m going to bite the bullet and get it. You’ve really sold it to me. I need a good airport bag and I think it’ll go with everythibg.

You should be able to clean it with baby wipes. If not, take it to your closest LV store and they will clean it for you.

I am going against the grain here, they are over faked, not at all secure apart from the silly little pocket inside that zips, and predictable. I would go for something less obvious, but then i have thought that way for the last 15yrs, which is why i sold mine then.

I appreciate your opinion!
I do worry about the amount of fakes too, and find it off-putting. Can you recommend any other brands or bags instead?

I've got the 2nd one and I agree it's a workhorse. I never fuss about the people saying "oh there are loads of fakes now" I've had mine years before there were a lot of fakes and no one has ever commented on it. The amount of people interested in bags in your real everyday life is hardly any. Who cares if a stranger in a cafe thinks its a fake?
I'd go for it. Mines been a work bag, a beach bag, a gym bag, a carry on luggage bag. Still going strong!

Bananaspliff · 03/09/2023 21:13

They’re both lovely but be careful buying 2nd hand. My MIL has a Speedy30 in the coated canvas and it’s not aging well at all. She had it from new purchased directly from LV and she’s looked after it, but the canvas has all cracked in the corners and it’s starting to look quite tatty. She took it back to LV and they didn’t want to know, there is no warranty on their bags which I found staggering for a luxury brand.

Matildahoney · 03/09/2023 21:27

There are a few good sites on Facebook that sell & a couple of decent authenticators on there, although my baby brain won't allow me to remember them & I've been trying to wean myself off them after buying a Chanel!

So long as you know it’s genuine then why worry? If you wanted to sell it on, that’s where the value is. As others have said, the beauty of this bag is that it’s utterly timeless in the 2nd print and it’s a total workhorse. You pull it out now, when there may be fakes, and in 10 years when it’s all aged and the leather has become rich in colour and you fill it and fill it and fill it and ot never gets full and you carry it and think to yourself “I really should use this more often”

and you use it because you can chuck in a laptop, a spare jumper, your coffee cup your purse and sole make up for work. Then you go on holiday and you’ve got your phone, kindle, your cosmetics, your water, a spare wrap, your sandwich from pret for the day and you can still fit in a bit of duty free and find your passport and all the time the leather handles aren’t even strained and you’re not worried it going to break

I have the DE and the Azur, had them for years and they are great for carting stuff about. However I'd not buy new now as the canvas is thinner and the overall workmanship has declined over the years and they are stupid expensive now.

I'd look for pre loved, naughtipidgins nest often has preloved and her prices aren't too bad.

LadyEloise1 · 04/09/2023 16:50

I was disappointed with NPN reseller as a bag I was looking for was more expensive from them than what I was able to buy it for brand new in the actual official concession shop in a department store near me.
It took me almost 2 years to get the one I wanted in the colour I wanted but it did eventually come in, despite being told it was not available anymore.

superplumb · 04/09/2023 18:39

Prefer the ebene. I have the mono is the multi pochettes but I feel self conscious with the loud logo so having it on such a large area is a no from me. I have the azure mm size and I love it

I really like the ebene too, it’s subtle and understated which is more my style.
