Golden Goose trainers - why?

I have quite recently discovered these. I am genuinely fascinated as to why the price tag? If you own some, what was the reason for being attracted to them? Are they super comfortable? Is there some USP about them that I’m missing?

And why being so worn in that they look like they’ve been to hell and back before you’ve worn them is a selling point is a whole other thing 😊.

definitely don’t hate them or anything, just don’t get why so expensive!

Bloody hell! That price tag! No thank you.

I'm open to suggestions for expensive but lovely comfortable trainers though....

I know!!

Well they look almost identical to these trainers I bought from M&S a couple of years ago. Copied not 🤔

These are the golden goose ones

Shabby chic.

I can’t help but like them, but they wouldn’t look all insouciant and devil-may-care on me. I’d just look homeless.

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 23/08/2023 22:35

So do you buy them with that weathered/used look?

Justfivemoreminutesplease · 23/08/2023 22:36

They are the most comfortable trainers I’ve ever
owned (owned a lot 😂).
Never had a blister or sore part of any of either foot from the first time I wore them.
I have plainish ones though and don’t get the ritzy glitter on some of them.

SD1978 · 23/08/2023 22:38

@Hungrycaterpillarsmummy - yup. You buy them 'distressed' and looking like they are about to fall apart. I'd never buy them, they are too expensive by far, but a small part of me really, really likes the look of some of them, they look like properly worn in comfy trainers,

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 23/08/2023 22:38

I'd buy them if they looked new not worn!

Justfivemoreminutesplease · 23/08/2023 22:38

I also used to get bothered about marks or scuffs on any new trainers I had. It really wasn’t an issue with these 😂

LumpyJumpy · 23/08/2023 22:46

I really like them having never heard of them before tonight. But the price!! Can't justify that. Obscene really.

sadaboutmycat · 23/08/2023 23:03

Nope nope nope!

PatsWoggle · 23/08/2023 23:08

I'm sure things like this are social experiments to see what crap people will spend a lot of money on.

TheUsualChaos · 23/08/2023 23:12

I googled and now I have them coming up on the ads on here 🤦‍♀️ most of the styles look like they've been fished out of a bin.

goback · 23/08/2023 23:17

I have some. I brought them for the aesthetic tbh, they're great with jeans.

Lizlibrarian · 23/08/2023 23:52

All my trainers look like this because I'm too tight to buy new ones . Unfortunately non have designer labels. Who new they were now a fashion choice rather than just being a scruff. Might pop mine on eBay.

To be fair to Golden Goose, theirs are nicer.

Appleblum · 24/08/2023 00:42

Comfortable and they go with everything!

FlamingMangoes · 24/08/2023 00:45

Derelicte

Clymene · 24/08/2023 00:47

Tragic

Opine · 24/08/2023 00:48

M&S copied the Golden Goose ones not the other way around 😁

Theyve been around for a long time along with a rival company called Phillipe Model. Both very popular in Italy. The prices have almost doubled since around five years ago because they’ve become so popular.
The distressing is the look and the shape of them is just right. Not too wide like most dress trainers.

instep is too high for me but my kids have worn them for over ten years because they look great with everything and there’s no scuffing worries.

Copperoliverbear · 24/08/2023 01:11

Most of them on the website look like someone else has had them on every day for about two years.

Probablysane · 24/08/2023 08:57

I'm always tempted by them when I see Jo Whiley in hers. So expensive though! I can never justify it.

I did read somewhere that they are very flattering though - somehow cut/structured to make your legs look longer and slimmer.

checkedcloth · 24/08/2023 09:07

I’ve had a pair for 7-8 years, they still look great.
Admittedly, the prices have absolutely rocketed, I would love the leopard print ones but cannot justify £400 on them
