Golden Goose trainers - why?

I have quite recently discovered these. I am genuinely fascinated as to why the price tag? If you own some, what was the reason for being attracted to them? Are they super comfortable? Is there some USP about them that I’m missing?

And why being so worn in that they look like they’ve been to hell and back before you’ve worn them is a selling point is a whole other thing 😊.

definitely don’t hate them or anything, just don’t get why so expensive!

I have a high instep so find them really comfortable. Don't really care for the fake distressed look

BigBadBun · 03/09/2023 21:28

Why the hell is Mumsnet promoting these stoopid trainers on your SwearsBy emails? £150 for a pair of TRAINERS is bad enough, but THIS? are you mental? or is there a massive kickback for MN? Surely only 2% of MN users could afford these? Hell, I can afford them, but I am not mental.

Also wtf is this bullshit?
"I'm always tempted by them when I see Jo Whiley in hers. I did read somewhere that they are very flattering - somehow cut/structured to make your legs look longer and slimmer."
Jo Whiley my arse. Ooh my legs might look longer and slimmer in these TRAINERS. Unlikely quote.

@BigBadBun 🤣

I'm always tempted by them when I see Jo Whiley in hers. So expensive though! I can never justify it.

I did read somewhere that they are very flattering though - somehow cut/structured to make your legs look longer and slimmer.

Seriously? That's marketing at its finest. As if a pair of pumps can do that Hmm

And you're all wrong, platform converse are the most comfortable casual trainers in existence. I always found converse uncomfortable (somehow too flat, and completely unsupportive) but the platform ones have a bounce and support that's amazing. I even wear them to work (an all black pair) and I'm on my feet all day.

Zoe Kratzmann.. an Australian designer.. does very similar look.. for less than half the price.

Magnoliainbloom · 04/09/2023 22:51

They definitely don’t. M&S ones look like they are made of cheap plastic.

oldwhyno · 19/06/2024 11:08

this is an old thread, but I just learned that the popularity of these over priced trainers is due to them apparently being Taylor Swift's favourite brand

TorroFerney · 19/06/2024 11:14

Who would have thought shoes would make people so angry.

Opine · 19/06/2024 23:07

@oldwhyno They've been around for far longer than anyone who would copy Taylor Swift. Also out of the price bracket of your average swiftie.

More money than sense.
