Golden Goose trainers - why?

I have quite recently discovered these. I am genuinely fascinated as to why the price tag? If you own some, what was the reason for being attracted to them? Are they super comfortable? Is there some USP about them that I’m missing?

And why being so worn in that they look like they’ve been to hell and back before you’ve worn them is a selling point is a whole other thing 😊.

definitely don’t hate them or anything, just don’t get why so expensive!

Ah ok @Probablysane so this is what I’m talking about - so they are meant to make your legs look slimmer? Off to research

I have tried these on in Bicester and have never parted with the cash. Can't justify the price tag and they were not comfy in store.

😆😆

Ihatexboxes · 24/08/2023 22:16

Ew they remind me of that heroin chic look.

They are the most comfortable trainers I’ve ever
owned (owned a lot 😂).
Never had a blister or sore part of any of either foot from the first time I wore them.
I have plainish ones though and don’t get the ritzy glitter on some of them.

There’s something rather immoral about paying that much money for something which has been deliberately designed to look as if they’ve been on the feet of a very poor person for much too long.

I can't believe I'm defending trainers but they really don't look like that.

MrsJBaptiste · 24/08/2023 22:51

Christ, they're just awful and wouldn't even be nice if they didn't have the dirty falling apart look.

However I like my trainers to stay box fresh white so they obviously aren't for me!

I’ve just looked at them!

Midgeymoo12 · 24/08/2023 22:57

Got some as a present. They feel different than other trainers - heavy, quality leather and comfy. They go well with most outfits. But I agree, the price tag is outrageous!

SilverSpooooons · 24/08/2023 23:00

I didn't realise Golden Goose trainers were still a thing. They were popular a few years ago, but I've not seen them around for at least a year. I just assumed that people had realised they were a total rip off lol.

bumblingthrough123 · 24/08/2023 23:14

The insole actually has a built in “high heel”. Wasn’t obvious till I took them out to wash them.. think this partly explains the leg slimming effect. Anyway, was a big mistake to chuck both pairs in washing machine as they were totally wrecked. That’ll teach me.

Oh no really? Did you use a quick cycle on low temp? I've washed trainers for years but that's one expensive lesson.

Lockdown persuaded me to buy myself a pair of air and grace trainers and I heart them a lot. I'd be terrified of this happening

whirlyhead · 25/08/2023 06:17

I used to have a pair and found them really uncomfortable (too wide) so ebayed them.

ApolloandDaphne · 25/08/2023 06:19

I've just had a look at the Golden Goose website. They don't look old and worn to me. I really liked them. I'm not sure I would pay that for a pair but the styles look great. I love the glitter ones.

Perfectlystill · 25/08/2023 07:21

I look at them and think what a waste of money, no matter how rich you are.

LizziesTwin · 25/08/2023 07:25

They’re really comfortable and last well. I’ve had mine about 8 yrs now so they weren’t as expensive. I wear my daughters’ cast off Nike Airforce 1s if I want a clumpier look.

Blankscreen · 25/08/2023 07:29

I've got some and they are so comfy.

I got them about 5 years ago and I think they were more like £260 ish.

I really looked after mine and still wear them now, not as much as I once did, but I stil like them.

Cost per wear is probably very low.

Um - yeah - they really do.

OP - they are made for people with more money than sense. HTH!

Also love the comment from @FlamingMangoes which basically sums up the pretentious twattery of it all Grin

Can I just point out that I've had my men's slip on trainers from M and S for 8 years as well - not a mark on them and still going strong. Cost me £17.99.

You don't need to pay £300 to £500 for something that lasts more than a couple of years.

LunaTheCat · 25/08/2023 07:37

Ohh they are gorgeous… but outrageously expensive!

MrsMarzetti · 25/08/2023 07:51

Why on earth would you buy scruffy footwear. No doubt they go with ripped jeans. All that money to look like a hobo.

TheClitterati · 25/08/2023 09:06

Clearly a social experiment Smile

Opine · 28/08/2023 00:04

My children have passed them onto each other for the past decade. They are bomb proof!

LadyoftheLavaLamp · 31/08/2023 21:24

@FlamingMangoes YES!! 🤣🤣🤣
