Would anyone like to join in on a 100 day princessing journey?

100 days from today is 1st December so a perfect time to start our princessing journeys. I’m overweight, constantly tired and feel generally rubbish about myself. I want to make this a priority so hopefully posting here will make all of us a little accountable and we can all support each other…

I would love to join this challenge, I have an event with DH's intimidating extended family on 27th Dec and would really love to turn up feeling all swish and princess-y!

I've already been getting a handle on diet (following 16:8 and cutting down the bread consumption) and exercise (1 x pilates and 1 x circuits class each week). I'd like to increase exercise and have found the most effective way for me to do this is to physically go to a class, otherwise "I can do this any time" turns into days of thinking "... so I don't need to do it right now".

Life is pretty stressful at the moment as going through a big house renovation and two massive projects at work so I'm not sure how much time or headspace I can devote to princessing. I need to think how I can add things in a way that is sustainable but not overwhelming. Some things I would love to do, like getting regular manicures but seems pointless when I'm spending every weekend on DIY but maybe I can compromise by keeping nails neatly shaped and buffed myself.

I'm going to read through everyone's ideas and see what I can find for my own list :)

ChiaraMontague · 31/08/2023 15:08

Did anyone find a good Face Yoga app?

SummerSwifts · 31/08/2023 16:10

Day 3 of princessing. I tried out the hair oil that I concocted out of a teaspoon of castor oil mixed with ten drops of rosemary essential oil. It's actually made my hair feel and look quite nice. My hair is usually quite dry and fly away but this has made it soft and silky. Im going to try and do it once a week.

I was reading Mrs Midwest's blog and she recommends castor oil for eyelashes and eyebrows too.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 31/08/2023 23:45

I've bought some Morrocan Oil ( very £ for a tiny bottle!) , my hair is very fragile so hoping this makes it softer . I'll give it a try on Saturday .

I do use castor oil on my eyebrows , really don;t fancy it on my eyelashes though .

SushiSuave · 01/09/2023 09:20

@70isaLimitNotaTarget what does castor oil do for eyebrows please? I've got about 3 hairs on each brow - does it encourage growth?

PetitPorpoise · 01/09/2023 09:22

Exercise has been poor this week as DH has picked up a load of overtime meaning I've got the kids on my own until Monday when I'm back at work.

No UPF has been going well and I'm noticing that I'm not craving half as much as I normally do. I was pleased to hear DH say how crap and heartburn-y he felt after someone brought in pasties to his work yesterday. He agreed to join me on the no UPF for a month, but I think he'll be more likely to stick to it for longer when he sees the benefits.

Had a hair consultation yesterday and agreed on a subtle balayage and reshape, so I'm excited for that even though the appointment is a few weeks away.

Keeping up with scrubs and body lotion after every shower and my skin is feeling good. It also means that I'm less lazy about shaving!

Tasks today:

  • no cheese
  • wash and style hair
  • apply makeup and put on proper clothes
  • put away all laundry nicely
Tinkeytonkoldfruit · 01/09/2023 09:39

I am in though I am starting from 6th September.

Commit to 5:2 diet again - it worked last time and I have about a stone to lose.
Stick to mainly plant based diet (ie cut out the cheese!!!)
Continue weights x 3 a week
Run at least once a week and introduce yoga at least once a week.
Read a few pages of my book before bed every night rather than read my phone.
Buy decent face moisturizer and use daily.
Not work past 10.30pm any night so I can get to bed by 11pm
Research vitamins buy them and take them

It's supposed to stimulate hair growth (but the jury is out on my brows !)

The only thing I found to make a difference is Revitabrow ( it is ££ so I only buy it on offer )
Just ordered some of the ELF lash/brow serum , DD was keen to give it a try /

I did try castor oil on my lashes but even the tiniest amount was claggy

Xeren · 01/09/2023 11:30

@Mummyoflittledragon 8kg is amazing!

@Poblano loving the Working It podcast

@SushiSuave I’ve bought some cuticle oil too. I’m not sure if it does anything but the last time I got my nails done there was so much cuticle skin 🤢 I want to start taking more care of my hands.

@MotherWol If you’re feeling luxurious, I recommend Erim hair oil (but it’s quite pricey, but I didn’t mind as it’s a small business). It’s a blend of oils including lavender, which gave me a really good night’s sleep when I applied it overnight (pop a towel over the pillow though!).

I would like to join. I have semi-started already but I might have a 100 day project and start properly with 100 days until new year (so 21 days to go!).

I have put on a bit of weight which I’m unhappy about, and felt very un-mindful (if that’s a thing?) for the whole year. It’s gone by in a blur and I have felt quite frazzled for a lot of it. I didn’t wear any of my beautiful summer clothes because of the dreadful weather, so I feel very not-princess-y!

Goals:

  • declutter slightly and make my flat a beautiful space to be in (this is hard with my partner wfh!).
  • regular nails (gel on fingers - I have a kit to do myself!) and pedicure. For some reason having my toenails painted makes me feel put together (especially in autumn and winter when only I see them!).
  • gym - I should go to spin class three times a week because I genuinely LOVE it when I’m there and feel wonderful. It’s getting myself to go that’s the problem!
  • Eat more cleanly and healthily. I am SO bored of meal planning though.
  • hair oil every time I wash my hair.
  • body lotion every day x 2 (morning and night! But if not possible in the morning then I should definitely do before bed). I have so many in the bathroom! I should use them.

I’m quite good with my face skincare routine and I apply spf daily already. I drink lots of water too. I REALLY want to do the footner thing but I’m a bit scared of the peel-y stage and the weather is due to be nice next week so I might want to wear sandals? Decisions!!

Mummyoflittledragon · 01/09/2023 18:41

Thanks @Xeren 😄

PetitPorpoise · 01/09/2023 18:46

@Allthatwegotisthispalebluedot I feel the same as you about spinning. Went back for the first time in ages last weekend and loved it. One of the instructors was new and very energetic.

Annoyingly, my DH has taken on some overtime this weekend so I've had to cancel my upcoming bookings. The money will be nice but these are the sorts of things that continually disrupt my flow. No two weeks are ever the same!

Saunaandsteam · 01/09/2023 19:52

I have a long list of things I need to do but atm my priorities are:

Stop picking my nails. A 20 year habit and my fingers look terrible and are sore.

Be more present in the moment and learn how to switch off from work - especially when lying in bed at night!

Last night I binged watched 'how to live to be 100' (netflix) It was inspirational.

wiltingflower · 01/09/2023 21:36

I've watched these threads in the past but think I'll properly join in for accountability.

My list (some new and some existing things to continue)

Daily:
Drink 1L water
Eat a big salad/fruit/veg with each meal to increase variety to up to 30 a week
10k steps
Light exercise daily before bed e.g. pilates, yoga
Use my skincare daily and nightly
Floss and use interdental brushes twice a day
Retainers
Take vitamins
Cut down on ultraprocessed foods/ make meals at home
Wear jewellery, perfume and make up

Couple of times a week:
Jog for 15 minutes
Tidy up eyebrows and nails
Face mask
Body and face scrub

Fortnightly:
Use Philips Lumea

Less often:
Hygeinist
Dentist
Haircut
Teeth whitening

Allthatwegotisthispalebluedot · 02/09/2023 12:51

A mixed day today! I started strong with a spin class and burnt nearly 500 calories - afterwards treated myself at the bakery which wasn’t the healthiest (although I did pile my plate with salad too, alongside the vegan sausage roll!). Now I’m lasting in the bath and planning on doing my skin care/lotion when I get out. I might also push myself to do a manicure and pedicure (or at least paint my toenails). How is everyone else doing this weekend?

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 02/09/2023 14:56

Moroccon Oil treatment this morning ( with my plastic haircap) tried this instead of my usual Elasticizer .

Face exfolliant , I use it 1-2 times a week, it is amazing .

Tonight I'll start on the eyelash/eyebrow serum

That;s all for today !

Poblano · 02/09/2023 15:23

Well my fitbit tells me I've hit 10k steps today already and it's only 3pm, so this is good.

Am packing for a conference next week. Am travelling there tomorrow (it's a 7hr train journey) then back on Friday. I have packed a case so big I can barely lift it, so I hope the lifts are working at the stations I need to change at! I didn't think I'd packed that many clothes, but I've thrown in things like a blazer in case I need to be smarter, jeans for going out for meals in the evening, a nice dress and heels for the conference dinner, running clothes and trainers to go out for a walk/jog before breakfast in the hotel (possibly wishful thinking).

I've bought bircher muesli for breakfast and a salad for lunch tomorrow rather than relying on buying something inevitably less healthy on the train. I've also looked up where M&S Food, Waitrose etc are in the town where the conference is so that I can pop and buy some fruit etc when I get there rather than eating biscuits all week. Hoping the hotel will offer poached egg on wholemeal toast or some fruit and greek yoghurt for breakfast. It's really hard trying to eat healthily when I'm away with work. Also remembering to drink enough water.

Now need to paint my nails and hope I manage to not chip them mid week...

Oblomov23 · 02/09/2023 21:25

I've achieved nothing this week and feel most despondent.

Start a new week tomorrow with fresh intentions?

CutiePatooties · 02/09/2023 21:55

Started keto Monday and I know it’s water weight, but I’m down half a stone.

haven’t managed the water as I hate it - but gone from having none, to having a litre a day so I’m hoping I can keep increasing.

had my first microdermabrasion today and going to book for a course of microneedling and keep up with the skincare routine.

Will add more bits next month once I know I can keep track with water, diet and skincare.

Allthatwegotisthispalebluedot · 02/09/2023 21:57

@Oblomov23 tomorrow is a new day pal!

@CutiePatooties microdermabrasion is fab, especially after a course of treatments.

PetitPorpoise · 03/09/2023 08:19

@CutiePatooties from what I remember, week 3-4 on Keto can be tough going as you tend to see a really stubborn stall or even a slight gain which really tests your resolve. I've done it a few times but sadly find it hard to stick to long term so it's a yoyo diet for me personally.

I have cut out UPF, sugar, sweeteners, bread, pasta and rice this week which has been much easier than I expected. I can feel the difference in my appetite and cravings.

Minnie123456 · 03/09/2023 08:54

Not a great week and I've hardly met any of my goals. Work has been a nightmare so I have been stress eating and biting my nails. I've taken no vitamins at all even though I set them in the kitchen where I can see them. Not sure how long I have been on my phone as I don't get the report until tomorrow but i'm sure it's not any less that last week.

I have used cuticle oil twice this week, stuck to basic skincare a few days, moisturised after most showers and dried my hair each time.

Onto a new week 😊

thenewaveragebear1983 · 03/09/2023 12:23

Well summer has reappeared here and I’m enjoying a vitamin d boost! I went for a 9 mile run this morning, longest for a while, and just enjoyed the sun and the miles, not putting too much pressure on myself. Then came back and had a lovely long shower and scrubbed and moisturised so I feel lovely right now.

I need to do my feet this afternoon, my toes need new polish and I need to pumice and moisturise as well.

my food has been good this week except for yesterday when dh bbq’d and I had a glass of wine or two. My menu is all planned for the week and I’m feeling optimistic, plus the sun is set to shine all week too which hugely improves my mood.

NINE MILES!! Good on you! I’d love to get back into running but need to be sensible and lose weight first so doing lots of walking.

I think I’ve lost an inch off my waist since last Monday so I’m desperately hoping to fit into my suit properly by 28 Sep. 6 days in!
