Would anyone like to join in on a 100 day princessing journey?

100 days from today is 1st December so a perfect time to start our princessing journeys. I’m overweight, constantly tired and feel generally rubbish about myself. I want to make this a priority so hopefully posting here will make all of us a little accountable and we can all support each other…

I'm in. I always find this time of year the best time to start new habits, it's that back-to-school feeling I think.

I started a new job in the Spring and it has thrown my routines a bit. At the same time I need to look a bit more professional in this job than my last one. I'm also away with work a lot, which makes it harder to eat healthily and exercise.

This week I'm on annual leave and I've gone through my wardrobe and got rid of things I don't wear any more. I've then sorted my work wardrobe into a kind of capsule, cataloguing everything on Pinterest so that I can see what I have and what works as outfits. Hopefully this will stop me staring into the abyss and deciding I have nothing to wear.

I usually pretty good with skincare, but I have got a bit lazy with it over the summer. So making sure I cleanse and moisturise every morning and night needs to go on the list.

I also need to eat more healthily. I used to make lovely salads and take them to work in my old job, but now I frequently end up in the office coffee shop buying a cheese panini. I need to be more organised and start taking my own food in again.

I used to swim before work 3 mornings a week but am finding that harder now too in the new office. I also used to do a pilates class one lunchtime in my old job, but I always seem to have meeting clashes now. Again, I think I just need to get back into the routine.

So my list is all the obvious stuff really: dress well, eat more healthily, skincare, exercise. Simple, right? 🤔

I’m also trying to create a work capsule wardrobe for Autumn. I just want some go-to outfits so I don’t have to think in the mornings and feel more ‘polished’.

What’s in your capsule?

OoohLaLaLa · 25/08/2023 21:49

In!

  1. Get hair coloured and wear it down.
  2. Wear earrings
  3. Use fake tan. I know- but I look a million times better golden and it masks the rosacea!
  4. Foot peel sock thingies
  5. An exercise everyday.
  6. File my nails
  7. no school night drinking
  8. lost 21lbs
  9. get some lovely underwear
  10. Only buy good clothes
  11. If all the above achieved I will buy myself a lovely expensive watch for Christmas

I love giving yourself a treat / reward if you achieve all your goals. That’s a great idea!

Oblomov23 · 28/08/2023 10:12

Yes. Please. I'd like this.
I'll give it some thought as to what my goals are. But I know some already.

  1. Lose weight
  2. cut back on wine
  3. And crisps
  4. cut back at being so accommodating at work and always clearing up others mistakes and shortcomings.
OuiLaLa · 28/08/2023 10:31

quick accountability post, I have been keeping up a bit better with body maintenance, especially my feet which are not looking so grim. I have two new dresses in the sale so will try to get the max out of them.

Have done a good bit of cleaning and tidying in the house already this morning and yesterday. Almost ready for back to work tomorrow! Have also been taking my multivits.

Still need to improve my diet, started this morning with family pancakes but will try to have a roast later on so will nail loads of veggies.

Ditto water. Why do I let myself get so dehydrated?!!!!

I am very inspired by all the ladies doing hair and face masks. Can I ask what hair oil people rate? especially if you tend to greasy scalp and dry ends!

I am struggling with this. Though I am bigger. I need autumn clothes. I have some lovely ones. But all too small.

I don’t even know where to look for work clothes of size 20. Not sure what to do

When I realised I was living in leggings and DH's tee shirts because nothing fitted me, I bought a few new tops and trousers from TU. Very cheap but fitted properly and nice seasonal colours.

I really recommend you buy a tiny capsule wardrobe of three tops, two pairs of trousers or skirts that all go with each other and a nice new dress to see you through and help you feel great at your current weight.

thebabessavedme · 28/08/2023 10:35

Morning all, doing ok here, all shaved and exfoliated and covered in 'stuff' Grin feeling much much better, cut down dramatically o the booze, it really shows on my face, I honestly think I look far less wrinkled and my eyes are much brighter.

My house declutter is going fantastically, my kitchen is a pleasure to be in now, opening the cupboard doors is a thing of joy!

My next thing is to join a gym, hopefully next week, have to fit around work and having dgs (I love him beyond measure but will be very pleased when school starts again)

Good luck to all you lovely Princesses, We can do this!

What’s in your capsule?

My capsule is very, very boring...

Wide leg black trousers, wide leg navy trousers, ankle grazer black trousers, ankle grazer navy trousers).
Shirts in exactly the same style but different colourways (I've found an M&S shirt that fits well, so I just keep buying the same style in different colours as they update the range in different seasons).
Beige blazer and navy blazer for smarter days.
Beige trench coat.
Loafers and brogues.
Black tote handbag big enough to fit my laptop.

I'm sure none of this is S&B appropriate, but it works well for me as it fits nicely, the shirts don't need ironing and everything goes together so I don't have to think too hard in the morning.

M&S

Printed Collared Shirt

Go bold in this printed shirt. Designed in a regular fit, with warm long sleeves and A timeless collared neckline. Complete with smart button fastenings through the front. M&S Collection: easy-to-wear wardrobe staples that combine classic and contempor...

@newyorkinthefall hope you're feeling better again today. Be kind to yourself. Covid can take a frustratingly long time to bounce back from!

@Xeren It's so nice that you can walk to work. Not possible here but I'm making a big effort to walk my baby to nursery and back of possible. What Podcasts do you listen to? I love The Drs Kitchen- I find it really motivating. I also loved Stuff The British Stole but looks like the current season of that has finished now. Always keen for suggestions.

I've been plodding along quietly for a few days. Pleased with how I'm doing. My weight is now only 1kg away from a healthy BMI which will feel like a big boost when I get there.

Definitely feeling like I'm more de-slobbing than actively Princessing at the moment so perhaps I'll try to paint my nails or do a face mask this evening.

Had a temperature drop of 25 degrees in 3 days here. Feels like fine to sort out the wardrobe so I'm cracking on with that today.

Interested to hear what is in other people's capsule wardrobes. I'm living in a very small 1 bed flat at the moment which is tough because there is not much room for clothes, but also no room for a washing machine so I do need a good rotation as I can't go to the laundry every day!

I buy most of my work clothes from Next, M&S and sometimes H&M. All of those go up to a size 20 and beyond.

Poblano · 28/08/2023 11:06

I'm massively struggling with routine at the moment, I think it's because I've been on annual leave from work for a couple of weeks and am just slobbing around. I've also got a horrible cold and this isn't motivating me to do anything! Hopefully going back to work will kickstart me into being more organised.

I'm away all next week at a work conference and am having massive indecision about what to pack. I have no idea what people wear to these things. Am probably going to take far too much just so that I can decide what to wear once I've seen what other people are wearing on the first day (so the opposite of capsule!).

KnitFastDieWarm1 · 28/08/2023 11:06

Lovely thread!
I love setting goals and I love all these achievable ideas.
I'm currently trying to get my bmi down a bit.
I'll add-
Wear a nice lipstick everyday
Apply hand cream regularly
Remember to take vitamins

Supercat100 · 28/08/2023 11:22

Doing better today. Love this thread for accountability. Just did a cold water swim and had fruit, nuts and yogurt for breakfast. My nails and hair need work but I've bought a hair mask to do today and am keeping up with the hand cream. Healthy lunch planned and I'm getting back on MyFitnessPal to track calories.

SummerSwifts · 28/08/2023 12:10

Hi, can I join in?

Im 63 years old and I feel like I'm 83. I have physical and mental health conditions and a combination of feeling poorly and feeling sorry for myself has meant I've really "let myself go".

I hope being on this thread will give me some support, ( and lots of lovely ideas of things to do) in making changes to how I care for myself and keep me accountable.

My aim for the next 100ish days is:

  • lose some weight. I'm 10kg away from a healthy weight but even if I lose half of that amount over the next 100 days I will be happy.
  • Exercise of some sort everyday. I'm so stiff and inflexible - I was sitting on some steps on Saturday and then couldn't get up from them without help, very embarrassing - so I thought a combination of walking and some chair yoga to start with.
  • Do something for my appearance every day - mini facial, hair mask, manicure etc.
  • Practice my mindfulness/mental health exercises everyday.
thelittlestbird · 28/08/2023 15:01

Enjoying reading everyone's updates. Find them really inspirational.

I'm doing okay. Have cleared out a lot of clothes and made a small fortune on vinted. I've been keeping up with vitamins etc and now I'm going to tackle some batch cooking of healthy meals for the next few weeks. I'm off work again this week so got some prep time.

PetitPorpoise · 28/08/2023 15:12

@OuiLaLa this is the hair oil that I have been using. I used to just use a tiny bit to calm frizz, but lately I've learned that you can really slather your hair in it and leave it for a few hours before washing to give it some nourishment. I only apply it from the ears down.

Best tip for washing is to do a first wash aimed at removing the oil and grease, rinse, then do a second wash to actually clean your hair and scalp. You'll probably find that the second one is much more lathery because you've got rid of the oils first.

Eating is going well for me. Avoiding processed foods and getting in as much fruit and veg as I can.

Topped up the fake tan yesterday

Put make up on and decent clothes this morning.

Bought a new notebook to use as a journal in the hope that it will help me focus on my goals; not just for my appearance but also saving money, reading and keeping on top of household stuff.

KnitFastDieWarm1 · 28/08/2023 15:20

I've moisturised today, had a long nap and I'm about to do some duolingo. Good day so far!

iamthattree · 28/08/2023 15:25

I would quite like to join in please.

Main focus for me in on health/wellbeing. That means moving more and eating better mostly. Plus sleeping well.

Am doing quite well at moving more. Joined a gym, got a pt. But I need to get more walking in and work on mobility and flexibility as I am peri plus hyper mobile which is a combination which means a lot of aches and pains. So I am going to try to do a short yoga most nights.

More veg, less upf and reasonable portions. Weight loss will be hard and I don't want it to be a goal in itself but I am overweight so I'd like to lose some.

Skin care is good and I've just got some new makeup, Hair is awful though so a bit more focus on finding an easy low maintenance look that isn't worzel gummage.

Then clothes. I have decided even though I wfh 50% of the time, I want a small work wardrobe separate from my home one to help with some boundaries. I also want to try some new things. So a bit more trying on and a bit less settling for whatever I can grab. And no buy September whilst I figure out what I really need.

Pinchelada · 28/08/2023 15:37

• I’m going to give myself a treat for every half a stone I lose: new dress, cut and colour, eyelash extensions, etc.

Good idea! I'm far too quick to reward myself.

  • back on Weight Watchers to lose a stone
  • hair treatments
  • have a more structured prayer/Bible study routine to get my day started
  • consciously try to be a blessing to other people
  • study my chosen language course consistently

For those of you who struggle with a skin care routine; what's your main barrier and ill see if I can think of some practical suggestions. I've been an avid skin care-r since I was a teenager nearly 30 years ago.

Took several bags of clothes that I don't wear any more to the charity shop this afternoon. Now to not refill the space in my wardrobe with unnecessary purchases!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 28/08/2023 19:26

I've put a bag together for the Charity Shop too , and yes , trying not to think "I just needs a short sleeved jumper to wear under that" ....

I did see some nice jumpers in Uniqlo but I don't wear wool or cashmere so mainly look for cotton.

PollyAmour · 28/08/2023 20:01

I've taken two bags of clothes to the charity shop too - I haven't worn them in the last 2 years and I'm not likely to.

I had some gift vouchers to spend from my birthday and bought myself an apple watch - still trying to figure out how to use it, but friends tell me it's really motivating to 'fill your rings' 😂

Green777 · 28/08/2023 20:09

Rest more and more weekends away.

Wingingit11 · 28/08/2023 20:17

Place marking while I think - great thread!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 28/08/2023 20:24

I got home from a few days away at my parents today, and ready to properly start. I booked on to a gym class tomorrow. I coloured my hair although I went too light so now in certain light I have orange roots but at least they aren’t grey. It’s my office day tomorrow so I always wear make up anyway when I have to mix with real people. I have made myself a nice healthy lunch of leftover chicken and roasted veg.

my goal tomorrow is to drink water- I drink plenty at home but for some reason I don’t at work, so I’ll aim to drink at least one refill of my water.

i only did enough shopping for a few days so tomorrow I’ll plan a proper menu out and see what’s in the freezer. I find food takes care of itself when I plan in advance so it’s definitely worth doing.

my little mini target is a night away with dh on 9th September, with his parents, and siblings and partners. I hate things like that, I am by far the biggest of the women and I feel like a massive lump so I would like to feel better about myself if possible.
