Would anyone like to join in on a 100 day princessing journey?

100 days from today is 1st December so a perfect time to start our princessing journeys. I’m overweight, constantly tired and feel generally rubbish about myself. I want to make this a priority so hopefully posting here will make all of us a little accountable and we can all support each other…

Following as i have just stumbled across this thread and having now read all 13 pages i am feeling so motivated by you all. I have been trying to look after myself better since february this year after turning 50 in 2022 and really feeling it. So far ihave lost 45lbs, started walking at least half an hour each day, developed a skincare routine and just generally watching what i eat and making better choices. Im amazed at how much more positive i feel about life.

Silverdogblue · 26/09/2023 17:13

@Ambertonix that is AMAZING!! Apart from walking, what have you changed? I’ve got 5st to
lose and not really seen much progress…

Ambertonix · 26/09/2023 17:32

@Silverdogblue Thankyou very much, i feel so much better truly. The main thing was just cutting out the rubbish in my diet. I am a complete crisp addict so i cant do the 'i'll just have one little bag.' I was no stranger to eating a 6 pack or a sharing bag in one sitting so i have completely stopped eating them and have switched to Snack a Jacks of which i have at most 2 packs a week along with my lunch. Im trying to lose as much as possible before December (I would liketo lose another 2st if i can) because i dont want to restrict myself at christmas. Dont see it as having 5st to lose, instead concentrate on each half stone loss. I have been steadily losing about 7lb a month and it is extremely motivating to see the scales go down! Good luck, you've got this!

Silverdogblue · 26/09/2023 17:45

That’s great advice. Thank you. I also bloody love crisps and have tried to restrict to weekends but I joined a masters swim club recently so did a couple of bags before training last night. Massive facepalm!!!

Thank you. Ace to see you on the thread and thank you @newyorkinthefall for pulling us all together!

Mummyoflittledragon · 26/09/2023 19:44

@Silverdogblue
I’ve really changed what I’m eating and am losing weight perhaps at a similar rate or a little slower than Ambertonix. I’m trying to eat more of a Mediterranean diet as that is what suits me. My body really likes olive oil.

My breakfast most often is salad with plenty of lettuce, tomato, cucumber, avocado or olives and a small amount of protein, which I much prefer to traditional sweeter breakfast. I find the latter makes me crave both sugary and salty foods and my body doesn’t do well on a large helping of oats or natural yoghurt etc. I also need to eat gluten free and don’t digest gf pasta or bread well either so my carbs are things like oat cakes with treats of dark chocolate (3 chunks max) and graze bars (2 max).

Lunch can be a bit of cooked breaded chicken with lots of veg or snacky bits like a few slices of German sausage with raw carrot, some cheese, grapes and oat cakes or an omelette with lettuce and / or tomatoes.

Dinner will be like lunch or some kind of composite meal a few times a week - risotto, roast and hello fresh recipes. I try to ensure I eat a good portion of veg and not too much carb so the risotto will have a fair amount of veggies inside and I’ll not eat a large portion.

I also put my knife and fork down at every mouthful and make a conscious effort to eat slower. I try mostly to eat in an 8 hour window but that doesn’t always work. Once my body was used to this system, I have found it easier to eat slower.

I am using both kilos and stone measurements as the constant countdown for me is important to keep going. I know some people only weigh periodically but I enjoy the self congratulatory element of not being heavier than yesterday. So for example I’ve lost about 11.5kg, which doesn’t mean that much as loss is best measured in 5kg increments. But if I combine the system, I’ve dropped from 17 stone something to 15 stone something.

LadyBird1973 · 26/09/2023 20:06

Hi all. I've been getting on okay - mostly sticking to my diet and slowly losing weight.Still have a couple of stones to go but heading in the right direction.

I've been trying to improve my house, as well as my body. Did some long overdue painting last week and today o blitzed all the paperwork. Tomorrow I'm tackling drawers!

Watching bake off now - am always on a diet when bake off is on Grin

Been keeping up with general maintenance and have booked to get my eyebrows microbladed. Am also trying to wear sone of my nicer clothes and not just live in comfies!

thebabessavedme · 26/09/2023 21:20

I'm so inspired by you all. I have been reading and doing for the last few weeks, nearly finished a full declutter, am following the weightloss threads, the housekeeping threads etc. I'm always pretty up on personal grooming as I'm quite vain Blush but i am enjoying a new lease of life! keep on you lovely princesses, not long till christmas! (am also on the 'poncetastic' xmas thread, I love it.

Wow, that's incredible! It's amazing how what we eat affects our mood and general feeling of health.

As a crisp fiend, I've switched to popcorn. I have a machine at home and make my own. I like savoury flavours, so I use a little fry lite butter and have bought some flavourings from Amazon and use a little of that or just some salt.

Loopylooni · 27/09/2023 05:33

@PersephonePomegranate23 I also have a popcorn maker that we never use as I wasn't sure how to flavour it. So do you make it then tip into a saucepan and add flavour? We usually love salty/sweet but I wasn't sure how to do it.

PersephonePomegranate23 · 27/09/2023 05:49

@Loopylooni yes, that's exactly how you'd do it for salty sweet. You'd have to caramelise the sugar in the pan, tip in the prepared popcorn to coat it and add the salt while it's sticky.

newyorkinthefall · 30/09/2023 11:25

I finished up yesterday for a weeks annual leave and today we’re going away for a few days. I can’t wait to get away to some nicer weather and relax for a bit. I need time and space to reflect on my priorities. I’ve been trying to change to much all at the same time and it’s just not working at all.

Hope everyone is well, I’m looking forward to catching up and all posts later tonight.

It’s a pity people seem to have stopped posting on the thread.

I’m doing ok. Ups and down. But another kilo down so 12 kg, which is almost 2 stone.

I think it’s difficult to maintain weight loss with lots of conflicting advice and fad diets don’t work. But I think I’ve worked out what my body likes best after lots and lots of failed attempts.

I am hoping my health will hold as my body craves sugar and I reach a tipping point, where I cannot resist and start eating it and drinking coke just to allow me to stand up. Chronic fatigue amongst other things.

Silverdogblue · 03/10/2023 08:29

I’m still here!! 36 days in and focusing on my weight this month. Found some photos of my weight loss journey from 2 years ago and got annoyed with myself!

Still struggling with fatigue, blood tests on Thursday but I expect it’s just idleness on my part tbh.

12kg is great @Mummyoflittledragon what’s your one top tip?

MotherWol · 03/10/2023 10:05

@Mummyoflittledragon I'm still here! Work has been really busy so it's been hard to keep up momentum, but we soldier on.

Last week's wins: bought a big tub of intensive conditioner in a bid to improve the condition of my hair, which has been really wiry/coarse frizz lately. I've also got some scalp oil and I'm going to give that a try on friday night.

I've been really diligent about cleansing and moisturising every evening, and my skin's definitely looking glowier. I've also got my minimal weekday makeup routine down, so I can quickly do tinted moisturiser and blush when I get to the office.

Vitamins have become a habit; I've no idea if they're helping though.

Diet's improving, lots of fruit & veg, fibre and plenty of water.

Areas to work on: I don't know! What should my next area to work on be?

Ambertonix · 03/10/2023 12:36

Im still here too! Weight seems to have steadied a little which is a bit disappointing but could be due to me rediscovering my love for scampi flavoured fries and over indulging. However it isnt nearly as bad as how i would have been in the past and im much more concsious of it now. Have upped my exercise to two half hour bouts a day and having my treadmill (thanks to my son!) definitely helps. So in conclusion, not much weight off but more importantly no weight on! Good luck on everyone else's journeys.

LadyBird1973 · 03/10/2023 12:43

I'm here too. Mostly trying to keep on the diet straight and narrow!
Can't remember if I've said, but I've booked my microblading appointment, been organised and got my pre Christmas haircut booked too, bought my next box of hair dye so am slowly keeping on!

Silverdogblue · 03/10/2023 12:56

Scampi fries are lovely though! I'm trying to stay off snacks during the week and last weekend, I made some sweet/salty popcorn which was lovely and only had a tiny bit of sugar in. Also much more time consuming to eat than a bag of scampi fries!

Mummyoflittledragon · 04/10/2023 05:19

Gosh I’m glad to see a few of us are definitely still here and than you for reacting to my post. I was getting a bit concerned checking back with no updates. But I suppose no one is going to give a daily blow by blow account….

@Silverdogblue
I posted the sort of things I’m eating on 26/9 upthread. Very simple foods. The things I’ve added since then is the way I eat the foods on my plate… or mostly at least. I’ve been told that we should keep our blood glucose low to stop insulin spikes. This in an aim to reduce fatigue and sugar cravings. Idk if I’m a bit more motivated this week or if my motivation is waxing and waning.

So the way to do this is not to have any kind of composite meal. To eat very simple foods. Eat all of the vegetables first. Then eat the protein. Then eat any carbs. This is what I did on Sunday with the roast. I also didn’t even fancy gravy. After eating all my veg, I then ate the chicken. I managed to choke down a potato and gave the rest to my dh… my body really doesn’t like potatoes either. In fact the only carb really is oats in small quantities and rice, I think. I’m still learning really.

We do have hellofresh deliveries and I may need to rethink this as tbh dd has gone off them somewhat after almost a year, dh doesn’t care as long as he’s fed and I’m wondering if the whole thing is way too rich for me. Anyway I’m cooking hello fresh this evening. It tends to be composite style meals. Rice, not pasta or dishes with potato in and I eat very little potato. Dd doesn’t like potato at all. I can’t eat gluten or soy so a lot of delicious sounding recipes are out. If we have pasta I substitute but still my body starts to reject that (upset stomach) if I have it more than a couple of times a month.

I am not snacking. Any fruit I eat is at the end of the meal. I’m not sure this is right as I haven’t read the book about it yet - The Glucose Revolution. If I need to eat more, I eat it quickly after the rest of my meal rather than a snack in between as snacks would also have to follow this rule. Eg eat some veg like a big raw carrot first then some protein. This is easier for me as I am too ill to work so am home almost all the time. have definitely craved sugary foods less and I have been having less dark chocolate and not been wanting the graze bars… which leads me on to last night...

Yesterday I ate carrot and 1/3 pack of Tesco German selection (or similar name) 6 slices of salami and 3 slices of cheese. For lunch I had a salad with a little chicken and Brie cheese… I am eating avocado and olives now btw. Then 3 easy peelers. In the evening I ate the rest of the roasted vegetables I cooked and a slice of ham. I then ate a graze bar and my body is still regretting the graze bar now. So maybe my body isn’t as keen on oats as I thought.

Yesterday wasn’t a big food day for me so please don’t think I always eat so little. I’m eating to hunger. And in an 8 hour window where possible.

Mummyoflittledragon · 04/10/2023 05:57

I’m downstairs now as the dogs needed to go out. I have lost the 12kg over the past few months slowly. I am paying attention to moisturising and eating good fats such as olive oil and know I may have saggy skin if I really lose a lot of weight but trying to mitigate as much as possible. My bmi is 33.5, it was (I think) 34.9 so I still have a long way to go. Am also supplementing. I don’t metabolise a lot of them so mine certain brands for some such as Nutri multivitamins. Then I separately take black seed oil, vitamin e, astaxanthin, extra b vits and am thinking of adding more vit c as it helps with collagen production. I should start to add in d3 with k12, drops not tablets. I see a toxicologist monthly and she has helped me with the supplement side of things.

@MotherWol
You’re doing amazingly well. I’m not at your level yet. But am going to keep soldiering on and will refer back to the thread as my health (hopefully) improves with the new way of eating. The supplements are hopefully working for you. Eating lots more veg, fruit and increasing the water intake will definitively be helping. I am also drinking a lot more water. I am definitely detoxing and you must be too… I have body work weekly and my therapist has noticed a real difference in my tissues, not so compacted, albeit there is a long way to go for me. Apart from chronic fatigue, I also have chronic pain, fibromyalgia.

The defrizz hair stuff definitely sounds good I have unkempt locks and my dd has bought… or rather I have bought my 15 yo some stuff for her hair so I may just give it a whirl at some stage. But I don’t have the energy just yet. I have, however managed to keep up the leg and armpit shaving. :))

@Ambertonix
Dont despair at the weight loss. You’ve done amazingly well in your weight loss journey. There will always be peaks and troughs. I’m riding on a wave this week. But it has not been that simple. I think I started just over 3 months ago and the summer holidays were hard. I can’t believe how long you’re exercising for. Maybe that’s because I’m a blue badge holder and exercise for me is a short slowish walk on a good day. And hardly being able to stand up let alone walk on a bad one. I’m hoping that will also improve as I detox. Half an hour twice a day sounds fab!

@LadyBird1973
Am glad you’re also still here. I booked my Christmas hair appointment a few weeks back. I do have one coming up at the end of this month. I get my hair highlighted / tinted 2 shades, one lighter and one similar to my natural colour. I used to be blonde and am now mousy with a little grey. I have a good amount of eyebrow hair. I need to get my eyebrows tinted again as they’re fading and starting to look more like my skin colour again, ie fair. I’m too nervous to do it myself so that’s £10 a time.

Thanks for responding to me ladies. That’s given me such a boost. Koko. 😃

newyorkinthefall · 04/10/2023 06:40

Today is our last day on holiday. I’m feeling relaxed and well rested and ready to face the world again. I’ve had lots of naps and nice walks and time to just be. I’ve read through all the posts on here and I’m so ready to join you all on our princessing missions. I’ve also randomly bought my wedding dress online 😱 there was only one size left (one size smaller than I currently am) so I know it’s not going to fit right now. The wedding is in 5 months so eating better and exercising are definitely top of my priorities! If I start now I won’t need to stress about it in a few months. Keep going everyone you’re all fabulous!

OP posts:
Mummyoflittledragon · 04/10/2023 06:44

Oh wow! You’ll be fine with the dress. You have a lot of time. I also bought one too small for me as the choices were buy that one for 1/3 of the rrp or one a lot lot dearer. I dieted and exercised and the dress fitted me just fine.

LadyBird1973 · 04/10/2023 07:53

@newyorkinthefall I'm also on the low carb bootcamp thread, and I found that eating low carb gives a good initial weight loss and has reduced general puffiness. After a while weight loss slows to what you get normally on any diet but it's worth a go if you find you need a weight loss boost to get into your dress.

psuedocream3 · 04/10/2023 09:50

I'm still here, but not much to report as life has been very expensive and a pain in the backside but hopefully working through those things now.

Congrats on the wedding dress @newyorkinthefall, very exciting!

I tried meditation for the first time last night and was pleasantly surprised how immersive it was. Definitely something I wish I could make time for but my household isn't generally a quiet, relaxing one so I'm not sure I can do it regularly. I did it before bed and then couldn't sleep as my body was too energised, but I don't feel tired today for a change.

I've reduced alcohol, and snacking, but haven't weighed in for a while so I'm not sure where I am at yet with losing weight.

Silverdogblue · 04/10/2023 13:27

I hate the gym. That’s part of the reason I’m fat, love swimming but sadly that doesn’t do much for my weight.

ANYWAY! Great news for princessing on day 37 of my journey… I HAVE FOUND A GYM CLASS I ENJOY!! the 45min flew past.

I now have active things I like doing on 4 days a week plus a volunteering job on Sundays which brings me joy. These things all help my mental health which of course, helps the physical.

PersephonePomegranate23 · 04/10/2023 18:09

I'm still here!

I had lost a couple more pounds, but I'm close to target now so it's slowed right down. Have had a couple of socials that have been good for my heart, but detrimental to getting the last few lbs off!

The good:
Getting back on track with healthy eating after some fun weekends without sacking it a off for good

Mostly keeping up with night cream regime

Looking after my feet and moisturising body after shower

Dressing well most days (in public, anyway), doing my hair and wearing jewellery

Needs more work:
STILL driving too much coffee and not enough water!

My nails look terrible - I just have not found the time to polish then for weeks

Erratic vitamin taking

I'll give myself a C+ more work required!!
