Would anyone like to join in on a 100 day princessing journey?

100 days from today is 1st December so a perfect time to start our princessing journeys. I’m overweight, constantly tired and feel generally rubbish about myself. I want to make this a priority so hopefully posting here will make all of us a little accountable and we can all support each other…

That habit stacking article is really interesting. I'm going to work through the steps with my Princess to-do list. My friend has asked me to be a bridesmaid at her wedding in April, so I've got another goal beyond the 100 days for this round.

I'm weighing in once a week and doing measurements once a month. The scales I use do a body composition analysis, so gives a body fat reading as well - I'm not sure how accurate it is but it is good to see both figures moving downwards anyway!

CoolCalmCollected · 08/09/2023 14:23

Hi, I'd like to join in please :)

So far, my plan is to:

  1. actually take all the vitamins/supplements that I have in the cupboard
  2. implement a modified TOMM routine
  3. stretch every day (I already go to a weekly Pilates class so I should just be able to do a little cut down version of that each day
  4. eat based loosely around the Fast 800 diet/time restricted eating
  5. step up my meal planning/shopping/prepping

So, that's the plan. I will start now. Well, when I get back from work 😬

Good luck all.

declutteringmymind · 08/09/2023 17:12

I'm under the weather so have had a long bath, washed, scrubbed peeled, exfoliated and moisturised.

Nails and style hair tonight ready for the weekend.

Poblano · 09/09/2023 17:18

Back from the conference. Probably ate too much, undoubtedly drank too much, but am buzzing with ideas and the new people I met so I'm chalking it up as a career win which is also important.

I did get lots of compliments on the dress I wore to the conference dinner, so that's a definite win.

Being away from home a lot with work is making it tricky to stick to going to the gym, so I've signed up for a 6 week plan of online Pilates, Weights, Cardio, Conditioning and Relaxation classes that you can either do live or watch again later. Not sure how great my motivation will be, but it was cheap (£30 for 6 weeks) so I'll give it a go.

Alwaysdecorating · 09/09/2023 19:27

Hey all and welcome @CoolCalmCollected !

I am still not smoking. 4 weeks since I had my last one.

@Poblano that sounds really good value! Glad you had a good time at the conference.

Moved Dd to Uni for her second year today, so we had a Tim Hortons for lunch and a Starbucks but have done loads of steps and had a salad for dinner.

I really like the habit stacking article. Definitely going to try that.

I have managed to cut out late night binge eating. Which I needed to (not just for weight) because I always had disturbed sleep. This week I am concentrating on prioritising sleep and using my phone less.

I also have some of the Korean Italy towels. I had some a few years ago and got out the habit. So am going to try and get back into it.

Here’s to another week! Food prep tomorrow! Hope everyone is well and has a great week!

Mummyoflittledragon · 10/09/2023 06:28

Had acrylic nails done yesterday. I think it will be the first and last time as I can see it’s really damaging. I will be getting gels next time. But they look absolutely lovely. Not too long nude with French tips.

I also got my right ear repierced as the hole had almost closed up. This was the bad side with the 2 holes never level and the hole was at an angle making dangly earrings look crooked.

After not losing for a couple of weeks or so, which seems to happen from experience, I have now lost another 1.2 kilos (just shy of 1.5 stone). Down 9.2. The good news is that since losing this weight, my bmi is now in the category 1 obese. I know that’s a long way from normal. But I’ve been eating terribly due to such poor health and zero energy, often bedridden. I am really making progress this year after over 10 years of misery and several major surgeries, which is why I can now do a bit of stuff again.

The wedding we are going to is next week. Dd and I getting a spray tan on Wednesday. I think I may just get a half body on my legs to cover the veins a bit as my top half is quite tanned. My dress is long but I have a high front split. Will talk to them when we get there - I’ve booked and paid for 2 full body sprays as it worked out about the same as booking 1 full body and 2 half body separately.

I’ve ordered some body composition scales as ours are over 25 years old and my weight can be different when I get on and off a couple of time, so I’m excited to use them when they get here.

I am really happy to see other people succeeding and feeling better about themselves and so glad I can finally participate a little.

I learnt how to properly wash my hair (I’ve been doing it all all wrong!) bought some hair products and actually styled my hair (as opposed to just sleeping on damp hair and waking up in a triangle of frizz on top of my head). The products and styling worked really well and I achieved a nice soft wavy bob, which is better than using straighteners which leave my thin and stringy. Also applied make-up and just felt put together at work, which made such a difference to how I felt.

Re-started swimming which felt great!

I ditched the calorie counter. I found myself mindlessly logging the calories and not taking it seriously. There’s no point going through the motions if I don’t take on board what I’m doing. Instead I spent this week eating packed lunches, and cooking meats and making large tasty side salads (no processed carbs).

Xeren · 10/09/2023 08:37

@declutteringmymind there’s nothing better than a nice bath and a good scrub!

@Poblano that’s fantastic! I find work networking and putting myself “out there” at work very difficult. I’m always really impressed by people who do it, it takes a lot of confidence. So well done you! I hope you manage to recharge your batteries this week. What dress did you wear?

@Alwaysdecorating sleep is so important!

@Mummyoflittledragon 1.2 kilos is amazing! Great work!!! 💐

Can you share your hair tips please. I am trying to achieve relaxed wavy bob and it’s not happening so far. Though the heat isn’t helping.

Poblano · 10/09/2023 09:44

@Alwaysdecorating how did the back to university move go? I've got two going back shortly (second and final years) and am actually looking forward to having a less chaotic house.

@Xeren I'm not a natural at networking, but it's got easier the more I do. This is the dress I wore to the dinner.

I treated myself to a new perfume last night, with a discount and a free gift on an M&S Sparks offer. Need to go to collect it from store today. Also need to do all the usual Sunday stuff: face mask, paint nails, iron work clothes. Off on another work trip on Tuesday so need to think about packing for that too.

@Poblano it was good. A lot better than last year. She has stayed in the same accommodation. Same flat in fact so we had a good idea of how it would go when we got there. A lot less stressful this year.

It’s been nice having her home, but the quiet today has been nice. 😃

That dress is beautiful!

Poblano · 10/09/2023 20:01

I'm starting to enjoy my little Sunday routine now.

I check the weather for the week ahead so I can plan outfits for at least the first half of the week. I also iron my work clothes and hang them together as outfits ready for the week. Today I'm hoping that the thunder storms will make the temperature drop as I really want to wear a knitted vest over a shirt to work tomorrow!

I've been using this exfoliating mask every Sunday, and I'm noticing a real difference in how smooth and even my skin is.

I also file and paint my nails every Sunday night. This week it's Essie Chinchilly which is my favourite neutral colour. I always finish it off with Seche Vite and it usually lasts a full week.

Wins for the week:
Constant reasonable dental routine
Daily drinking around 1L of water
Daily multivitamins
Maintaining my weight
Painted nails and top ups during the week
Nice enough hair, make up, jewellery, outfit and perfume daily
Face scrub x 2 weekly
Not eating ultraprocessed foods bar 1 packet of sweet and salted popcorn
Treated myself to finally seeing the Barbie movie alone after work- being alone to recharge was the best

Need to add on:
Exercise (avoided due to the hot weather)
Face masks
8 hours sleep
Relaxation/something to feel less stressed
Eating solid meals rather than protein shakes out of convenience- just finding it so hard to get time in though- work takes up 6am to 6pm plus most days and it's relentless, working through break/lunch and when you get home making a meal or lunch for the next day feels like a real faff
Going outside for fresh air
Getting 10k steps in daily- linked to hot weather, I just can't do it

fairfatandfrumpy · 10/09/2023 22:25

Thank you @Poblano for the link from my other thread
I wonder how much weight u can shift in 100 days

Xeren · 10/09/2023 22:32

@Alwaysdecorating So a few hair tips I’ve found helpful…

  1. Products: get the right shampoo for your scalp and the right conditioner (optional) for your hair. E.g my scalp is very dry and flaky. I get a lot of dandruff and then my roots get greasy overnight. I’ve tried lots of fancy shampoos but thing that worked for me is good ol’ Head and Shoulders. My hair is very dry and conditioners don’t seem to work as soon as I rinse them out, so I use a leave in conditioner and it’s made a massive difference. I also apply oil once a week. That’s also helped along with giving me a good nights sleep; it’s pretty much a head massage. You might not even need a conditioner depending on your hair.
  2. Equipment: I think a big part of a good blowdry is using a powerful hairdryer and a big round brush. I got a GHD one, but I’m sure there are less expensive ones that work just as well. I heard boars hair brushes also work really well.
  3. Process: there’s loads of helpful blowdry tutorials on youtube. I apply leave in conditioner to wet hair. Air/ rough dry till it’s 2/3rds dry then apply a blowdry cream (especially moisturising one for me). I then clip into different sections and then dry section by section by moving the dryer nozzle down my hair along with the roll brush.
  4. Wavy bob: I aim to dry it as straight as I can and it stays that way for an hour but because my hair is naturally wavy / curly it bounces into soft waves, which I actually like! Today was so hot, I only blowdried the top half of my hair and then tied it in a smooth smart bun. It looked so much better than my usual hair up with random cowlick curls springing all over my head!

I love how you’ve decorated your home and beautified your life. It’s certainly what a Princess would do! Our flat is very small and toddler DC takes everything down. But there’s a little outdoor space that DC can’t get too and I intend to make a little Autumn centrepiece when the weather gets cooler.

Xeren · 10/09/2023 22:33

@Poblano that’s a lovely dress!

@wiltingflower that’s a lot of wins!

Xeren · 10/09/2023 22:46

@MotherWol very interesting article!

I got a library card and take out books. My attention span isn’t what it used to be but finding a good book is much better than doomscrolling.

Also, listening to good podcasts.

Sturnidae · 10/09/2023 22:56

Can I join in? Husband took photos of me and the dog earlier and I honestly wanted to cry! Not feeling my best!

I have 20+kg to lose, no kitchen and haven't had one for over a year now so we've had a lot of oven pizzas/meals, microwaveable foods and takeaways, we used to love cooking and looking forward to sorting that again (waiting on some shit for a renovation that was supposed to be started at least 6 months ago but heyho that's life!)

Realistic goals are difficult for me to work out, I'll have a proper think but browsing through everybodies lists I have some basic bits:

👉Walk the dog twice a week (she has a walker and husband takes her too so not neglected!)
👉 Get up at 0800 and gradually move back to 0630 as kids bedtime goes back
👉 Get a hair cut
👉 Swap some mindless scrolling for crafting
👉 Study - Finished my Forest school qualification!
👉 Swim with the kids once a fortnight
👉 Join in with the kids 'exercise videos' at least once a day (Danny Go has too much energy).
👉 Declutter house
👉 Take sertraline daily and ADHD meds regularly
👉 Keep a bottle of water with me
👉 Restart TOMM

Folicky · 11/09/2023 23:19

I'm in.
Keep nails short and moisturise feet
Take supplements in cupboard
Do facial exercises
Do hyaluronic acid and moisturise everyday
Consider applying my dermatitis cream
Walk on my running machine each day
Stop eating at 8pm
Practice a calming routine every day and stay calm and containing
Invest more in my career interest
Put some time into helping my son in school

EasternEcho · 12/09/2023 04:27

I would like to join in as well.

I have about 20 kg to lose.
Start counting calories
Up my daily step count
Incorporate weights 3 times a week, even if I have to break it up into mini sessions during the day
Look after my hair again. It is a stringy mess.
Start and maintain a morning and evening skin routine
Practice more mindfulness and better ways to cope with stress

That's a start.

MistyTrains2 · 12/09/2023 05:43

@LivingDeadGirlUK I seem to get stronger nails on a high carb diet.

Alwaysdecorating · 12/09/2023 08:05

Thank you @Xeren I will have a look at some tutorials and a big round brush. I am lucky as my kids are older. 19 and 12 so don’t have to worry about them stealing decor 😂😂

Hello to everyone joining.

I am on week 2 of sticking to my food prep. It’s made life so much easier. I am quite happy eating the same meals 4/5 days in a row especially as it makes life easier. Also gives me chance to try out new recipes each week. I am actually starting to enjoy my Sunday morning food prep. I am not weighing myself but feel clothes have got a bit looser. I am going to wait until the first of October and try on some trousers that wouldn’t quite fasten and see where I am.

Hope everyone has a great day!

DixiePeach · 12/09/2023 11:22

Hello I’ve been following you all and getting some good ideas. So far I’m trying to take all my vitamins and supplements. I’ve got dry eyes so I’m taking evening primrose and omega 3 if they get any worse I’ll no longer be able to wear my contact lenses. I’ve also bit the bullet and got varifocals the joys of middle age!

@Alwaysdecorating please would you mind sharing what you meal prep? I’ve put on a bit of weight and I think the problem is I low carb but then binge in the evening so I’ve started using mfp to see if I can shift it.

Ive bought some rosemary oil for my hair and every other evening I massage it in.

Hopefully will introduce some more things too.

For my first week, I did Greek yoghurt with fruit and granola. I am trying to increase protein so I mixed some protein powered in with the Greek yoghurt to increase protein and flavour it.

I did this recipe for lunch https://jessicainthekitchen.com/coconut-chickpea-curry-recipe/

I used 2 tins of chickpeas though as there was loads of sauce. I had this with a flat bread. This made 4 big portions. it was really nice, but next time I will add more spices as I like spicy food.

Then I made some burritos. Made the mix and put them in wraps and then wrapped them in foil and left them in the fridge I also pre cooked sweet potatoes. When I got in from work, I threw a burrito in air fryer for 10 mins. About 7 mins in I put the sweet potatoes in to warm up and then did a salad.

This week I did Greek lemon chicken and potatoes for lunch. And I made a bean chilli for dinner and sweet potato fries. When I get in I will warm it up, make like a loaded fries and put a bit of cheese and spicy mayo on.

I tend to scroll meal prep ideas on TikTok and save the ones I like then. The day before I do the weekly shop I pick 2 and check which ingredients I need. I always make a tub of tzatziki as we eat it with everything.

it’s just really nice knowing I have a healthy decent meal that’s not going to take ages each evening.
