Those absolutely tacky 'wifey' , 'hubby' jumpers and tees. I want to be sick in my mouth every time I see one

OneCup · 17/08/2023 22:49

Sliders
Eyelashes, nails, tattooed everywhere
Long hair on everyone even though it doesn't fit everyone.

Paix · 17/08/2023 22:54

Flounce.

Majesticalling · 17/08/2023 23:05

Puffy/frilly/baloony freakin' sleeves. Anyone remotely broad across the back aiming for a floaty 'Milk Maid' vibe ends up looking like Hay Stacks in gingham. They are simultaneously poofy, yet, thanks to bastard elasticated cuffs, they cut off circulation , ride up and leave unsightly welts.
Enough already! Bring back basic-bitch sleeves (please and thank.you).

morag1234 · 17/08/2023 23:06

Fucking crop tops.

Pre-kids, I would've looked amazing in a crop top.
2 kids later, not so much.

I'm also a little bit scared that low waist (is that the right word?) jeans/trousers are becoming fashionable again. High waisted jeans just cover everything.

billycat321 · 17/08/2023 23:11

cold shoulder tops
tattoos

Justleaveitblankthen · 17/08/2023 23:14

The over large boxy jackets that are everywhere.

Would love to find a neat, classic tapered navy jacket to fit a barely 5 footer.
Instead every jacket makes me look like I've been raiding the dressing up box

Also those ribbed legging and crop top look that everyone wears to go shopping.
The law also states this look is incomplete without fake hair/eyelashes/lips and tan.

VitoCorleoneOfMNMafia · 17/08/2023 23:17

Shirts with one breast pocket, put on with the fabric grain diagonally. Use two pockets or none, and FFS put them on straight.

MrsFiddle · 17/08/2023 23:21

Ribbed anything but especially beige colour things
messy buns
black leggings ( unless gym ones in the gym)
thick eyebrows
big fat lashes
fish mouths
cropped anything
big fat trainers
orange faces
fake tans
shorts with arse cheeks hanging out
bubble type polyester shit
dungarees
Mary Jane shoes
ballet flats
I'm sure there's more!

OnSilverStars · 17/08/2023 23:25

Puffy, flowy, ruffley sleeves!

SammyScrounge · 17/08/2023 23:25

Pretty dresses.worn with clumpy boots. I know it's the fashion but I think it's ghastly.

AnotherDayOfSun · 18/08/2023 00:21

Honestly, the worst thing to me about any fashion is when EVERYONE wears a certain trend. Everyone. So my choice is to either surrender and go along, or else feel awkward and self conscious, watching with dread as even the last few "hold-outs" give in!

Hettice · 18/08/2023 00:25

I really dislike tight jeans/trousers on men. I barely notice clothes otherwise, unless I like them.

I've just been in rural France for a few months, and loved the way young people dress there. Much fresher and less self-consciously.

Poppins2016 · 18/08/2023 01:08

Puff sleeves. Impossible to layer!

Freshair1 · 18/08/2023 07:04

Black leggings worn as well, trousers. It's skin tight, and not appropriate surely?

StarlightLady · 18/08/2023 07:14
  • Dungarees
  • Ripped jeans
  • Jeans/Trousers that almost come up to my bra
  • High back swimsuits
  • Chunky boots
  • High round necks
  • Anything grey
SummaLuvin · 18/08/2023 08:15

I find this thread fascinating.

50% of people are saying trends they don't like because they think it's unpleasing aesthetically.

50% are saying trends that they don't like purely because it highlights a part of their body they have been taught to hate.

EarthSight · 18/08/2023 08:27

SquashPenguin · 17/08/2023 15:17

Definitely cropped everything. Horrible.

Gives them a perfect excuse to be stingy with fabric and save on production costs.

Skyblue18 · 18/08/2023 08:29

The dredful prints in shapeless dresses.

Voyager54 · 18/08/2023 08:30

Tatts

2pence · 18/08/2023 08:56

Hating the shirt dresses that are everywhere. They look horrible with big boobs.

Hating the continuing trend for cowboy boots. They look ridiculous and ugly.

Worldgonecrazy · 18/08/2023 09:05

Wide leg trousers- thankfully the ankle grazing ones are out. So many women walking around looking like children’s tv presenters.

Shapeless over sized dresses. They don’t hide anything and make me think of New Order videos (giving my age away!)

Young teens in string bikinis. Why do the boys get to wear knee length shorts and the girls get to have full butt cheeks on show?

As already mentioned - the nude crop top / cycling shorts combo, or the full body catsuit in nude or brown. I saw a beautiful young woman with a great figure wearing one, and even she couldn’t carry it off in real life. I think they airbrush out the belly buttons on the photos.

Sometimes when I look at ‘fashion’ I just think some designers really really hate women and want to make us look ugly/stupid.

ThewaytoAmarula · 18/08/2023 09:09

I don't like those big metal octagonal glasses frames, possibly because I know I'd look stupid in them. Is that what people mean by 80s-style glasses?

Also dislike deliberately-tight button-down shirts on men. They look so restrictive and uncomfortable. Maybe they're trying to look like the incredible Hulk?

I actually like wide-legged trousers, cropped trousers, half-zips and long swishy skirts though!

Highdaysandholidays1 · 18/08/2023 09:21

I hate the huge 80's style glasses as a glasses-wearer because they are completely unsuitable for people with poor sight! When you have a strong prescription, the larger the lens, the thicker it is at the edges so it won't fit the frame, and it's harder to centre the vision properly.

So, 80's glasses are fashionable but mostly useless, except at lower prescriptions.

LadyAstor · 18/08/2023 09:38

BenjaminDisraeli · 17/08/2023 17:41

High waists, high necks, trapezoid tops (that flare out at the bottom), comedy sleeves, comedy volume.

To be fair I probably looked my best in the 90s, in Jigsaw black bootcuts and snappy jackets, with brogues, ankle boots, or -daring! - Birkenstocks in summer. The Carrie-from-Homeland look. And low-slung jeans, cargo pants etc. Yes cargoes are back, but I got some online that turned out to be high-waisted, gah.

This!

I loath everything about current fashion; the boxy cuts, oversized everything, the sludge brown colourways, the massive clumpy shoes, the bum bags worn cross-body, cropped tops/jackets, shoulder pads, frills on everything, floral everything. All of it is just grim. It reflects the current age though.
