Hey everyone,

What's everyone's thoughts on vinted? I am absolutely loving it so far.

The clothes I've ordered are practically brand new, amazing condition and a fraction of the price.

It seems especially good for women's and children's clothes and honestly I'm a bit obsessed and need to stop buying really but I'm nearly finished for our holiday and it's mostly been from vinted!

I also feel like I'm saving the earth GrinGrin I know I'm not really but I'm really surprised about how good it is!

@Darklane well, you won't get any more value from your items if they sit in your closet unworn! I don't look at selling stuff as "losing" money from the original - that money is long gone and ain't coming back - but making money in selling what I never wear (again).

I sold a pair of new boots for £30 a few days back -still in box - which I'd bought years ago. They are definitely not working for me, and by keeping them for ages isn't going to give me any value.

IDriveMySupernova · 18/08/2023 14:11

I signed up 10 days ago and listed three dresses. I filled in all the boxes. None has even had a single view. Have I done something wrong?

Probably over-priced. People won't even look if the price point is wrong. Or bad photos?

I put three at £4 and one at £3. Is that too much? The pictures are quite nice I think... nicer than some.

VanCleefArpels · 18/08/2023 14:30

It’s so hit &miss - I’ve had things snapped up a few minutes after listing , some still languishing unseen after months. And then just at the point you think you might as well delist and donate to the charity shop up pops another “favourite”!!

What brand are the dresses? Size?

That's weird to be honest. Everything I've listed has had multiple views and favourites.

i'm a huge vinted fan.
just got myself a outfit worth £250 new for £19. for a wedding. wore it, felt a million dollars.
if u do it properly, read the posts, read reviews etc, you can get some great bargains. i have bought stuff for all my family off of it. my hubby gets jeans, he is quite short and 36 waist so gets more choices and some nice designer stuff for great prices.

have had one seller when the item came it was absolutely reeking of smoke .it was so gross. i sent her a email telling her this and that she should not be selling stuff in that condition. she said she didn't realise how
bad it was and that she would post that it was a smoking home. i binned the item, couldn't get it washed out and even so i'd be paranoid. this is only time i've ever had a
bad item. when i read the reviews of this buyer i saw lots of previous buyers with same issue. this is why u should always read reviews first.

i'm actually away to sell
some
stuff tonight on it!! x

Fat Face, Tenki and another brand I’ve forgotten. Size 10. I’m not so much surprised they haven’t sold as I am they’ve had no views Confused I’m wondering if there was a glitch when I uploaded them, or if Vinted had put a hold on my account or something.

LadyoftheLavaLamp · 18/08/2023 15:05

It’s so amazing. And addictive. I go for brands where I know the fit, unless so cheap it’s worth a punt.

I am a shopping addict and this has saved me a fortune and got some fantastic quality stuff.

That's exactly how I've been feeling about it.

It doesn't really matter how much I paid if they are just taking up wardrobe space and not being worn.

In fact keeping the just means they get dated and become unsellable (or unwearable for me) anyway.

It's also actually proving nice to have space in my wardrobe so it's easier to access the things I do wear which has meant I'm actually using more of my remaining clothes because I can actually see them (rather than forget I even own something because it's crammed in with stuff I don't wear).

crazeekat · 18/08/2023 15:56

Darklane · 18/08/2023 00:33

Must say to begin with that I’ve never used it,or even looked. But going off posts I’ve read I can understand why prople buy But after reading about people buying whole outfits for under £20 etc I can’t see why anyone would sell good quality, new or hardly worn expensive items on there? Can anyone who does sell explain why it would be a good thing? I have far too many clothes, most really good quality hardly worn & would seriously like to reduce the amount but can’t see the appeal of selling for tiny amounts things that were expensive & virtually new condition.

so u sell for what u want and if no one buys then uve not lost anything. u have spent the money already. if u get a tiny amount back, then cool.
or hand it to charity for nothing anyways and they will sell it for u for a tiny amount compared to what u bought it for as well. either way ur money is gone.
or don't
buy expensive clothes to sit in a wardrobe. the point is to buy and sell nice clothes that u would otherwise not wear again to help recycle and so people can budget. u get to be part of that, and have the option to save that money for something else that will then eventually cost u zero. it's not for everyone i guess.

QueefofSheena · 18/08/2023 16:22

Agree that it's not about the cost to you. I've just listed some coats that are way too big for me now, I won't get close to what I paid but the space they will give me in the wardrobes is hugely satisfying. I've got rid of loads of clothes that are too big for me now as I just don't want them around anymore. Once I've sold the coats I'll be moving on to evening/party wear in time for Christmas. I have loads of stuff I've accumulated that someone might love.

I'm always honest, price reasonably and steam everything to get the creases and 'wooden wardrobe smell' out of it, new or not.

TheDuchy27 · 18/08/2023 16:34

Sellers - how do you package your items? I have sold some of DH's big clothes today and have put them in a gaffer taped bin liner! Photo attached.
Is this a total faux pas?

What should I put them in if not? Was just trying to replicate the plastic bags the big online companies use!

I am loving vinted

I once received a top in a belvita cereal bar box so in comparison I'd say your packaging is relatively normal😂

I bulk buy grey mailing bags on eBay, around £4.50 for 50 bags.

TheDuchy27 · 18/08/2023 17:18

🤣🤣🤣
Thank you! I have left it in the bin bag.
They have got an absolute bargain with DH's Hugo Boss suit (which he has worn once for our wedding) for a tenner so hopefully they will forgive the bin bag😆

This is fine as long as you tape all round it really well so it doesn't rip open. I've had plenty of things arrive like this.
I also keep the postage bags my orders arrive in and re-use them. Most have clearly been used before, people don't have an issue with re-used packaging as long as it's fit for purpose.

QueefofSheena · 18/08/2023 18:22

I've accepted a few offers recently who then don't pay. What's confusing though is that Vinted say the item is then on hold for 24hrs but in one case someone else bought it at full price in that window. Anyone else had this?

SussexLass87 · 18/08/2023 18:39

I'm the same - really enjoying it!

I found a top on there that I LOVED years ago from Monsoon, and couldn't afford. Got it for £5 still with tags on! Made my day!

Motorina · 18/08/2023 23:53

@QueefofSheena I do this as a buyer. If I see three similar shirts I like I might offer on all of them, on the basis some accept offers and some don't. If one comes back to me and accepts I'll likely buy then and there, which means if someone else accepts later I probably won't.

@SussexLass87 I'm really pleased for you :)

jadey1991 · 18/08/2023 23:55

I absolutely love the app.
I sell alot of items on there myself.. majority brand new.

QueefofSheena · 19/08/2023 07:52

@Motorina thanks, what confused me is that in the blurb Vinted say that once you've accepted the offer, the item is held for that buyer for 24 hours, but it doesn't seem to be as someone has then bought at full price very swiftly. It worked to my advantage though, so not complaining 🙂

ChangingTheNarative · 19/08/2023 09:23

Just wanted to share my favourite vinted find. It was £20 which is so cheap for the brand and it's perfect for my DisneyWorld trip!

I am loving vinted
EllaPaella · 19/08/2023 22:20

I love Vinted. Recently I bought a lovely pink blazer and two pairs of Levi's for £4 a pair in great condition. I sell quite a lot of stuff and have never had any issues at all.

EllaPaella · 19/08/2023 22:22

I do find when you list a popular branded item you get inundated with hundreds of offers - some of them are ridiculous and it's very frustrating when you accept and offer and the buyer doesn't pay, meanwhile you are still getting multiple higher offers.

BreadInCaptivity · 23/08/2023 22:43

One thing I don't understand is why people list items in such shit condition or in a way worse an expensive item but CBA to iron it or photograph it reasonably well yet still want £££ for it.

If something is creased to buggery you're not exactly making me feel your assessment of NWT or VG is all that realistic as you're clearly not looking after the stuff.
