Waterproof mascara remover - need recommendations

I just cannot find anything that removes waterproof (or even normal) mascara

I dont wear make up very much so I dont have a big collection of removers and dont know where to start with how you choose

In the past Ive tried various brands of micellar water, all useless, cleansing cream Nivea, useless. Recently ordered Neals Yard eye make up remover, usesless

I still have big chunks of mascara on my eyelashes from yesterday,, my eyes are sore from wiping them.

I dont want a cleansing 'wash', I dont want something where I wash my face with water over a sink for example
I dont want something fragrance free
I dont want something that will dry out my eye area because Ive got menopausal skin
I want something with one wipe will wipe off the mascara without constant wiping

Take the day off by Clinique. Both the cleansing balm for whole face but if you didn't want to wash your face they do a separate eye make up remover which is excellent.

Loveduvetdays · 05/08/2023 08:53

Clarins eye makeup remover - gentle on the eyes but gets it all off very easily.

Absolutely this.

I have tried many over the years and this is the only one which works.

Great price too!

A bit random but I recently found that sudacrem removes it perfectly. It also is really good for your skin.

cuckyplunt · 05/08/2023 08:59

Rubbing alcohol and a orbital sander will work..

There seems to be a gentle eye make up remover or instant eye make up remover, which one?

I would recommend the gentle one if you have sensitive eyes, but if not then the normal one. I used the normal one as a tester and it was great but bought the gentle one in the end as I get eczema on my eye lids.

Body shop camomile cleanser in a rather pleasing tin. You massage it on and rinse or flannel off.

Lasts for months and months. Easy to use, smells great and shifts eve that indestructible mascara with the two step application.

Boots used to do eye makeup remover wipes which were amazing and the inly thing that ever worked on me, they discontinued them a couple of years ago and I seriously stopped wearing mascara because nothing else would get them off.

I've now discovered Balea eye makeup remover which is the closest thing to them, they are a bit expensive on Amazon but occasionally pop up on Ebay for a lot cheaper.

Tropic Smoothing Cleanser every time. Melts away makeup and cleanses face. Comes in scented or unscented 👍🏻

Dombasle · 05/08/2023 09:36

Vaseline removes it. Easy and simple to use.

TiredCatLady · 05/08/2023 09:37

Lancôme Bi-facil. It’s absolutely fantastic, expensive but takes everything off.

You want the blue one.

And another question for the experts here, probably a stupid question, would it be really wrong if I didnt remove it properly?

I wear it so irregularly, the reason mostly I like it to come off fully is that the next day,, today, I want to put my contact lenses on, again I dont wear these every day, but now when I try to put these on later what will happen as I pull my eye open, bits of mascara will go on my fingers and on my eye lids etc, causing a right mess and risking bits getting under the lens

I know you 'should' remove it completely but what would happen if I didnt?

As you're working around your eyes and the skin there is much thinner than anywhere else you might be removing make up, why would you want a mascara remover with a scent? Surely that would sting your eyes if you got even a tiny bit in your eyes?

AuntieMarys · 05/08/2023 09:45

Nivea

This is your only man when it comes to removing waterproof and regular mascara alike.

You have to shake the bottle so that the two layers mix and then apply to some cotton wool pads and away you go:

Styes, eye infections, irritation. Eye make up is a particularly bad one to leave on overnight as it can clog tear ducts and also irritate sensitive skin around the eye when e.g. it rubs against a pillow in the night.

ExplodingCarrots · 05/08/2023 09:50

This one . The absolute one, not the gentle one. Only thing I've found that removes waterproof mascara without burning my eyes .
