Waterproof mascara remover - need recommendations

I just cannot find anything that removes waterproof (or even normal) mascara

I dont wear make up very much so I dont have a big collection of removers and dont know where to start with how you choose

In the past Ive tried various brands of micellar water, all useless, cleansing cream Nivea, useless. Recently ordered Neals Yard eye make up remover, usesless

I still have big chunks of mascara on my eyelashes from yesterday,, my eyes are sore from wiping them.

I dont want a cleansing 'wash', I dont want something where I wash my face with water over a sink for example
I dont want something fragrance free
I dont want something that will dry out my eye area because Ive got menopausal skin
I want something with one wipe will wipe off the mascara without constant wiping

Ouse this. It works brilliantly and lasts ages

This is the very best, works like magic, everytime,

I use tubing mascara now though as I'm lazy and it just comes off with warm water.

I just hate the smell of unfragranced products. I know that might sound odd but they all smell really bad to me, they do have a scent, almost like plastic and make me feel a bit ill

Ive tried so many over the years. I dont use unfragranced anything

So its not like I want scented, I dont want unfragranced.

Clinique Take The Day Off balm, in the jar, honestly doesn’t have that smell. I know exactly what you man and I don’t like that either.

Baby shampoo. Cheap and works quick and as per the bottle no tears/doesn’t sting!

Ok well we went out and I missed some of these answers but as we were going past a small Boots I took a gamble on the purple Garnier someone mentioned here, so going to try it later

They didnt have much in to be honest.

I think its fragrance free so we'll see how I get on

Love the idea of coconut oil/baby oil though.

Right so experiment 1 - the Garnier, I only did one eye and one side of my face to test it. Very effective, not too much wiping needed, although I did overwipe as I wasnt sure I believed it was all off.

I want to try the other side of my face with coconut oil but cant find it right now.

Baby oil, garnier micellar and cotton wool.

Carpedimum · 16/08/2023 19:28

I use these @bellac11 Johnson's Makeup Be Gone Refreshing Wipes, Spring flower, Clear, Pack of 25 https://amzn.eu/d/hUkXvNb
They are fab, I’m kind of dreading the day when wipes are banned for being so environmentally damaging. I hope they can make a properly biodegradable version.

When I wear waterproof , I just use Vaseline - the old fashioned stuff. Moisten a cleansing pad - or cotton wool pad - and then press out excess water so it’s just damp (that way you don’t leave the fibres on your eye) Warm a little Vaseline in back of hand so it’s softened. Gently blend into mascara and other eye make up, and then wipe off with dampened pad. Cheap and does the job. No irritation and doesn’t affect my sensitive eyes.

Yay, glad you tried the purple Garnier. It's my absolute favourite and works a treat!

Lancome biphase

StoatofDisarray · 16/08/2023 21:14

I've tried them all out 56 years old and this is the only one that works every time with every mascara. It's absolutely brilliant.

ThinkingAgainAndAgain · 16/08/2023 21:17

The purple Garnier micellar water (the one that you shake) is brilliant for waterproof mascara.

The pink Garnier micellar water is great for other mascara and make up generally.

Ive tried loads and always come back to these. They’re really cheap too, always on offer.

GreenBirdy · 16/08/2023 21:19

Baby oil. Works really well on normal and waterproof mascara.

bellac11 · 16/08/2023 21:56

Just to update, as I didnt clarify what happened, I couldnt find the coconut oil, I thought I had some in the cupboard but I didnt!

So its just the purple Garnier stuff and its been working a treat, job done, thanks everyone
