Which one stylish mumnetters? (If any..)

Hello :)

I am going to a wedding at the end of the month and I am rubbish at dressing myself. I have dresses I like but I don't know if they actually suit me. My figure is slim/athletic, small breasts (would prefer to wear a bra as post breastfeeding has left them a little worse for wear). Can you lovely ladies help me please.

I have three dresses I am considering but also open to something completely different if anyone has any suggestions. Budget up to £100.

Please let me know what you think :)

Thanks in advance

They all, look good but I prefer the one with sleeves

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 01/08/2023 20:36

The sleeved one - lovely.

HundredMilesAnHour · 01/08/2023 20:40

I prefer the one with sleeves too. The second one with the shoestring straps is very skimpy at the sides - not sure that's really wedding appropriate but I also can't see how you could wear a bra with it either unless you're happy for bra to show.

whattodo87 · 01/08/2023 20:41

Sleeved one or the last one both look lovely.
Have a great time ☺️

Dressmebaby · 01/08/2023 20:54

Thanks for all your replies :) Yeah I definitely couldn't wear a bra with the strappy one.

I am thinking the sleeve one too. Wasn't sure if it was a bit too mumsy though? Although I am a mum so y'know.

Anyone got a curve ball to throw out there though? Or a suggestion for the type of dress that would suit me? I am a bit of a tomboy so this dressing up does not come naturally to me.

I think you've got a great figure, and if you're a bit tomboyish, maybe a jumpsuit like this would work for you? (elegant still, can wear a bra, and actually quite practical)

Disclaimer: MN loves a jumpsuit whereas I think they're a bit dated and past their best but I think the one above looks lovely and could be mistaken for a dress at a quick glance. It comes in other colours/prints too.

VinEtFromage · 01/08/2023 21:01

@Dressmebaby I like the third one best, I think you look a bit drowned in the first one & the second is more nice summers day with a tiny t shirt underneath (unless you don't mind boob flashing!)

You have a lovely figure, there so much you could wear, I'm envious! I think you'd look fab in some vintage style or more tailored dresses (collar & buttons, straight).

just make sure you're comfortable!

NatashaDancing · 01/08/2023 21:03

The third one. It's the most dressed up of the 3. The other 2 are ordinary day dresses.

HermioneWeasley · 01/08/2023 21:03

They’re all quite casual and with your figure you could do much better

ladygindiva · 01/08/2023 21:05

I like the sleeved one , the fact that you're very slim and the choice of shoes stops it looking mumsy. It would look mumsy on me because I'm chunky and can't wear heels 🤣

NatashaDancing · 01/08/2023 21:10

Is the sleeved one the first one? It's maybe the lighting but it's a bit drab and washed out.

Ladyoftheknight · 01/08/2023 21:12

Sleeved one with a plunge bra (push up if that would make you feel better). Love the shoes!

Whataretheodds · 01/08/2023 21:16

The sleeved one is the best and looks nice. Is the base colour black? If so then it would be nicer to wear a more celebratory colour for a wedding.

Would you like something new?

Dressmebaby · 01/08/2023 21:18

@HundredMilesAnHour Thank you for the suggestion, I don't think I like it though, the pink is definitely not me 😅 the red floral is okay though.

@VinEtFromage Would you mind giving me an example of what you mean?

@NatashaDancing @HermioneWeasley That is what I'm thinking too, they just seem a bit meh. I think I have a decent figure, I've just never known how to dress to flatter it properly. I live in leggings or hippy trousers and strap tops!

@ladygindiva I am wearing a push up bra!!! They were small to begin with now they are small and deflated 😞

Dressmebaby · 01/08/2023 21:19

@Whataretheodds yeah the base colour is black. I think i would like something new. I will be meeting lots of my husbands colleges for the first time and I want to look good. Nothing too sexy or showy but elegant and nice :)

ooh tagged the wrong lady

So UK wedding end August - what type of venue? What's the dress code?

Dressmebaby · 01/08/2023 21:27

@Whataretheodds Its in a castle!!! But no dress code has been mentioned, the couple are pretty chilled/hippy types though

narniabusiness · 01/08/2023 21:33

I think a different shape might look nice on you. Something a bit more covered up on top but shorter. This sort of thing

Dressmebaby · 01/08/2023 21:45

@NatashaDancing I can't imagine wearing something like that, it seems too stylish for me, I don't think I could pull it off. Thank you though :)

@narniabusiness I like it but perhaps a bit short for a wedding? Thanks for your suggestion too

mnahmnah · 01/08/2023 22:00

I think halterneck, waist-fitted dresses suit an athletic figure - I.e all the dresses I wish I could wear but wouldn’t suit! What about these on Next, from Lipsy?

The sleeved one definitely

Whataretheodds · 01/08/2023 22:04

I agree with @mnahmnah . The dress @NatashaDancing posted is great if that's your colour - what colours suit you best?
