Thread to discuss and compare 2023 Beauty Advent contents. Started because Liberty has already published their contents.

It must have been a mistake on LF website. I wonder if they will still honour the orders? I think they have to.
I resisted it even at €80. I definitely don’t want two this year, and don’t like it enough for it to be my only one

Ah crap. I was going to buy it. I've been out walking the dogs so was leaving it until I got back.

It will be interesting to see if LF honour the orders, as I’m sure it wasn’t intentional. I actually don’t think they have to honour them if it was a genuine error on the site. A few months back they had a glitch which resulted in premium Tom Ford perfumes being massively reduced, and they cancelled most (but I think not all) of the orders resulting from that.

Yes, it will be interesting to see.

Bare Minerals honoured their mistake last year and based on some of the comments above, not have new customers. A lot of the time, it pays to take the hit.

Hi, my Black Friday bargain wasn’t a mistake - it was a Black Friday offer - literally for a day- reduced to something like £60 but then with an extra sitewide code which brought it down to £51 something, then I had a £5 voucher - hence £46 odd. I don’t expect to ever get such a bargain again, but it’s worth checking on BF for ‘blink and you miss them’ reductions and LF have good discount codes.

If there has been a mistake today they may or may not honour it - I know they don’t have to.

I ordered something from LF earlier this year with a genuine discount code that was advertised on their homepage. They emailed me two days later to say it was an error and the whole order was now cancelled and so who knows what their strategy is with things like this 🤷🏻‍♀️

I'm holding out for No7 this year I think, although I did get the ASOS beauty one last time and it was surprisingly good!

Sad to say the only AC I’ve been remotely tempted to buy is the Invisibobble one mentioned on the Beauty Detective website today! No price yet, but I’ve had long hair since lockdown 2020, and can never have too many hair decorations.

Mines sat at processing so let's see if LF honor it

I did think that it was very early for LF to be discounting it - it's still on pre-order!

In my experience they do always have a discount code on it eventually though.

Glossybox looks interesting. Also interested to see what is in Cohorted this year (contents not available yet). That doesn't seem to have too many mentions in this thread but I think it's a similar price point to LF/Glossybox - it's only 12 products but I guess that hinges on whether they are good ones or not!

There are two MFK fragrances in this years Harrods calendar too. One of them is horrible sickly sweet - reminds me if Mugler Angel or Chopard Wish - not at all original. The other one is ok but it's an unmistakably masculine scent, and again, not particularly original. They are supposed to be gender neutral but aren't imo. I have no idea why they are so expensive.

@MidnightMeltdown is that the Gentle fluidity gold and silver? It’s so interesting how different our perceptions of fragrance are. I’m actually a big fan of Gentle Fluidity Gold because on me it is a vanilla, but a lovely mildly spicy one rather than the very sweet and gourmand like vanillas that are so popular elsewhere. Gentle Fluidity Silver has the same ingredients but in different proportions and somehow doesn’t work for me at all.

I spent some time today updating my spreadsheet. I still have a few to add (HN, LF) but it has been interesting so far. CB is overall decent value (price is less than last year, while most have gone up?) but really fails for me on choice of products. Vogue is great but expensive - might go for it though if the 10% off welcome code works.

CB isn't doing it for me at all this year. It's got a poor like to meh ratio for me. It's got a lot more small sizes too.

Interestingly, LF has the best ratio so far. Although I quite like the look of miin and need to add that to the spreadsheet.

@OchonAgusOchonOh have you looked at the Douglas one advertised on the BAC site? For once, a calendar that is available in Ireland but not in the U.K. For the price, it looks quite good?

Yes those are the ones! I guess that they smell slightly different on different peoples skin.

I think it's the vanilla in the Gentle Fluidity Gold that I don't like. On me it smells very sweet. The Bulgari Baciami smells like sickly vanilla to me as well, so I'm not keen on that either.

The MFK silver I quite like, but it does smell a little like men's aftershave. Perhaps I can layer them to get something in between 🤔

@AprilLady Do you have a link for where the one that ships to Ireland is? I checked out the https://beautyadventcalendar.net/douglas-beauty-advent-calendar-2023/, which brought me to Douglas.de but they only seem to ship to Germany.

It does look good though for the price. I was thinking it would be perfect for dd.

@OchonAgusOchonOh yes, that is the one. Site is all in German, but if you put the calendar in your basket, and then go to check out (choosing the option for someone new to Douglas) then there is a drop down menu for country which includes Ireland? I obviously didn’t get further than that though - do they not ship the calendar to all the countries on the list?

I was hoping you had some secret source.

I did the same - filled in the form for billing address which allowed Ireland them had to fill in the delivery address but the only country allowed was Germany.

Rituals pre-sale today for anyone with the app. Contents are not particularly inspiring despite the lovely packaging this year. It would only be the premium/deluxe one for me but the things I'd be interested in are all travel size!

I had the premium one for January last year which I liked and was good value at the sale price after Christmas.

I love the Rituals calendars. Sad to hear that this year’s offerings aren’t that exciting. I was contemplating downloading the app specially but will restrain myself.

I had the Rituals calendar, (mid-price ones) on two occasions and loved them. I actually kept the village box and reused it as a decoration the following year, but recently binned it due to lack of space - kind of regretting that now as it was nice.

I must remember I have my sale bargain 2022 Rituals calendar that’s squirrelled in the cupboard- I keep forgetting it’s there.

Liking the Liberty calendar best so far out of the ones I have seen but it’s out of my price range. I wish I had joined the Beauty Drop when I thought about a few months ago 🙃
